- Following its introduction in 2010, the Dacia Duster didn’t take long to become a household name. The small SUV’s no-frills approach quickly made it a hit with buyers, and in the intervening years, it has matured into an SUV with a few more creature comforts while maintaining its value-based proposition. Now, there’s an all-new third-generation version that looks better than ever and, for the first time, is available with an electrified powertrain.

I am low key obsessed with the new Duster. Could make a great overland build

Totally agree. We can picture it lifted a little more, on some steelies with all-terrain tyres and a cool roof rack. Check out the video we having coming very soon that demonstrates the sleep pack!
@@CompletecarIe You read my mind
i have just got a dacia duster tce 130 journey + i like it a lot
Well Done DACIA ❤ DUSTER
*Very NiCe looking Car
Great review - I think this will (99.9%) be my next car - I have a 2021 Bi-Fuel Duster at the moment and this full hybrid just makes lots of sense in so many ways for my needs that it will be a great replacement. Dacia are to car manufacturers what Lidl are to supermarkets!
That's a great analogy! Thanks for watching
It will attract new type of customers that want value for money. I never was a fan of Dacia Duster because of the somewhat dull looks of the previous versions, but this new design combined with hybrid engine, has changed my view. I looked at all compact SUVs with hybrid engines, and this Duster is clearly the winner.
Still drives like a cheap car😊
@@blueskies666 It's not even on sale yet, how can you possibly know that?
@@aarondynamics1311 because it’s a Dacia…….
@@blueskies666 Oh so never mind the fact that it's built on a completely different platform to the last model, one which is very modern and used by some of the latest Renaults and Nissans, you're claiming you know exactly how it drives purely based on the existence of an X shaped piece of plastic on the front grille. Don't be so ridiculous
@@aarondynamics1311 It’s a Dacia. And the worst of it is they are charging more and more each year to the point whereby they are just a cheap brand with an expensive price.
The whole design has a very retro (sci-fi) 80's "edgy" look to it. I love it...
You're very correct about that! We're big fans of the design
¿Have you mention the name of the colour of the unit what you drive in this test? I love this car. I would prefer 1.2 tce for more torque.
Fine looking car. The bronze mirror covers however may look a bit odd against other body colours?
That is only part of the Extreme specification. Other versions have body-coloured mirrors.
Those bronze door mirrors definitely look a bit odd & I'd want to change the colour if I bought one of these!
Very right of you to point out the parallels with the Suzuki Jimny. The current Jimny came out in 2018, they've had 5 years to revise the platform to fit an emissions compliant engine...they haven't bothered! Meanwhile Dacia has and offers this cool rugged car in hybrid form, plus traditional petrol engines. Massive fail by Suzuki.
I think Suzuki looked at cost and sales potential and chose to stick to less woke countries. I am sure their next gen model will comply though.
@@weetbix2083 Woke countryies?
@@fcalin21 Yes. The West has gone completely mad by adopting woke ideology.
What engine is in the 2024 4wd Duster.1.2 litre petrol is not strong enough. Please advise .
From what I gather it is 1.2l 3 cylinder hybrid what is deal braker for me. I whose interested in 4wd wersion and there whose photo of one with 1.5 l diesel and rumore of 1.8l petrol but it seems that i will just go for something used. FYI Duster in 1.5 l diesel is good off roader (not real 4wd but can supprice a loot).
Nice test. Could you please let me know how many centimeters is from front seats to the end of the trunk? Of course when second row of seats are folded.
Very good looking car and equally good looking presenter with his dadbod 😉
When is it being made available in Ireland and New pricing released..?
Asked dacia Ireland and they say October for January sale
It will be available to order later this year, pricing won't be announced for a few months.
i want this one but it only comes in 4x2 and i do go offroad and on the mountain often so a bigger heavier car without 4x4 makes no sense for me ... this is splendid for anyone who barely goes off the asphalt, just not for the niche of people that use an SUV in places an SUV is supposed to actually be used ... so if they mix the hybrid with the 4x4 or at least at the facelift mark or maybe bring a more powerful TCe on the table i'm considering it, for now the fact that they moved from the 1.3 TCe 150hp to 1.2 TCe 130cp makes me hold on because looking at this i don't see myself buying the duster 2 facelift ... i don't need an automatic as i barely drive in the city so it's not a nuisance i actually enjoy the manual ... also i'm not picky but the 1.2 is noisy and annoying at 130km/h highway speeds and you have to go 110, which tends to get annoying and the 1.3 150cp one was finally decent and they remove it :facepalm
Hi I am on my second Stepway the hybrid 140 duster is on my list
Where was this review filmed?
Malaga, Spain.
It was filmed in outside Malaga in Spain.
Good review
Thank you!
Unpopular opinion (probably) here but I was looking to upgrade my current 2015 Duster and got into one of these new ones.
The interior feels cheaper than my 2015 model. The steering wheel leather feels extremely shoddy (mine feels truly like leather... this one feels like plastic). The overwhelming grey tones drive home the cheap feel of everything - by contrast mine, which is mostly black inside with white ceiling, feels much better visually and to the touch. Even the plastics on the dashboard and doors feel recycled/thin in this new one, and the doors themselves work mostly on plastic hinges vs metal in mine.
Really I had a feeling of complete and utter shitty quality from the interior of this one - everything is awful and bad, even for Dacia standards.
Does this one have 4x4?
No, this one is one front-wheel drive.
Manuell 4x4
I hope they have drive shafts and no crappy weakass motor to power the rear wheels on the 4x4. Hybrids normally go for the rear powered by a useless electric motor.
I see it has the hump in the back seats for the shaft... So that's a good sign.
Any sign of the Bigster
next year
That will come in 2025.
great example of anti china cars invasion defense - a lot of a car for good money
no prices?
27-28k€ for the maxed out version. Give or take.
Pricing won't be confirmed until closer to its launch.
@@CompletecarIe I can litteraly order one now in Romania for that price.
This or Suzuki Vitara AllGrip Hybrid?
Same question as mine. I cant decide. For looks. Dacia looks like a real suv ala land rover type of suv. Boxy and stylish. Bit when it comes with durability and 4x4 there is allgrip. But overall Suzuki is reliable as hell. This Dacia duster i would by instantly if it was 150hp 4 cylinder. I'm afraid that new duster engines gonna blow regularly. You cant put 3 cylinder on 4x4.
I like the whole look but that Transmission gear looks too tiny.
It's small, but it doesn't need to be any larger than it is.
I'm very concerned about the new Duster's off-road creds.
The 1.2 seems basically too anemic to be anything good off-road (and generally...).
The 1.6 full hybrid seems like the natural choice, but it's not offered in 4X4.
I'm far from convinced overall.
I hope they change their mind and they offer the full hybrid in 4X4 at some point
My current 1.3 130tce has similar low down torque to the diesel 1.5 model, which is great for towing my caravan. I would like to see the torque figures for the Hybrid 140 model as the previous 1.6 naturally aspirated model didnt make a good towcar.
We've got the tech specs in our review here: www.completecar.ie/car-reviews/article/Dacia/Duster/Duster_Hybrid_140_(2024)/2330/13235//2024-Dacia-Duster-Hybrid-140-(2024)-review.html
Wow, the torque is way down on my 1.3 plus the towing weight is useless for even a tiny caravan. Think it's a no no for me, but thanks for providing the data.
The 1.6 aspirational is the real worry
Swoooon ❤
Price
Still waiting for it to be officially confirmed.
Excellent car but with an idiotic engine offer I hope that dacia will come to their senses and return the 1.5 dci
We don't think Dacia will bring back any diesel engines now.
The design is really good, punches way above its class but it has 2 issues I would like to see addressed in a face lift: better mirrors (square, not round) and a slightly sportier and slightly less utilitarian trunk/hatch door.
- Those round mirrors are not in tone with the rest of the design. I think they had to settle to hit some aerodynamic coefficient at a certain cost but the mirrors are the only thing that needs upgrading to a more square/butch shape to put the overall design close to the highest possible mark achievable on a value car.
- The trunk door is a bit too "puffed" out, too utilitarian, designed to provide maximum internal space. The indent around the registration plate doesn't provide enough variation. It would make the car look so much better if at least the portion between the registration plate and the bumper would be somehow more varied/sporty, instead of being smooth and visually creating a BIG ass that basically goes all the way across the lower back, nearly from wheel to wheel.
Good but still not good enough, especially with this outdated 1.6 engine which is very noisy at higher speeds. Could be better if offered with the 1.0 lt turbo engine but I guess this would be costly although even this one is not considered budget anymore. However, nice design.
The all ev is pretty much dead soon, as there are other far more strong and environmentally friendly engines on their way, such as Toyota's new one. The engines presented here are too small, too lacking in power, for example for towing, and the hybrid one is simply not interesting. I have nowhere to charge it. And exploding hybrids and all ev's are daily these days. More ferries, more restrictions as to where you are allowed to drive it. And a LOT higher insurance. So foret that.
The old Dacia Duster had a partially nicer interrior. The new one is okay'ish in places, but looks terrible in others. The outer looks really good and is a huge upgrade. The roof rails do not work as well as the old one. The phone holderis ugly as ...., and the interrior roof liner and shape is simply terrible. I also want to know crash tests, how many air bags and so on. And I went to a local Danish Dacia dealership and asked about spares for both the old one and this new one, and he basically said forget it. Can't get them. Not even a rear screen wiper arm. The organisation at least in Denmark is really really bad and the present importer with Renault too, shouldn't be allowed. Dacia needs to work on this now, and really fast. That will prevent people from buying their cars. No spares?... Too bad Dacia, I go somewhere else. I had really been looking forward to this new generation of Duster, but while Dacia gained on exterior looks, they lost a lot on engines and interrior. And could we PLEASE get a propper instrumentation, not a stupid screen! As for the row of buttons, that's all good, but Dacia has to make direct distinctions between the buttons, so you DON'T have to look at the buttons to chose the right one, but can concentrate on driving. That is a general problem with cars these days.
Just out of curiosity, I also went to Land Rover and looked at their 400 hp petrol new 90 Defender. 10 times more expensive and more, but that also lacks in places. And spares? Forget it. Delivery? Forget it. And Toyota's new model aren't here for a long time. And btw. even Toyota's legendary mechs are loosening it. Not the old wuality any more.
What I want is a genuine 4x4 with a 200+ hp engine and high and low gears Duster.
Come on Dacia, you can do that!
Kind regards.
Looks class and interesting!
It does!
Looks great and would love one....but no diesel so it will be a no for me...☹️
A lot of people are missing the option of a diesel now.
This car needs 500hp pronto
That would be wild
MG is more better
HS or ZS beter Quality Price !
no cd player
Hard to find a CD player in any new car these days.
Well this hybrid version is not that cheap.. id rather get a corolla cross hybrid for about the same price
I don't know where you live, but Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid starts from 35,300€ in my country, while the new Duster Hybrid starts from 26,650€ ...
That’s like saying I would rather have a Range Rover at the same price…it doesn’t exist.
WTF are you talking about??? The Corolla Cross price is twice the price of the Duster.
"Boz"? or But?
Dacia getting too posh just like Skoda a decade ago. 😬
No reason for Dacia to not offer a 5-20hp rear electric motor in the back axle on the hybrid for those who think they need or want AWD
@@toyotaprius79 5 - 20 hp rear axle will not make it AWD nor 4wd, It is shame that they went away from quite good 4WD to that. It already started to be a good option for overlanding in Europe but now back to well... nothing? Disco is not worth it, land cruiser 60k at least then you basicly have nothing of worth below that, maybe new FJ cruiser but doubt.
Yep
Why an ugly phoneholder when it offers wireless Apple CarPlay? Great video, thank you.
you can remove it.. its optional thing
It can just be removed.
The engines make me not buy this car, but Volvo EX30 cross country, when it will be available in few months (and we have one EX30 allready!)
a chinese car? Jezus.
The only good looking Duster i would say.. , they got it right..
We love the design
So basically, don’t help us country folk, bad darts 😢, thank god for nobby
I'm so skeptical and disappointed by the engines that I cry over the design.
What
@@alanclarke8069I'm guessing they are a diesel/anti electric Brazil nut.
Where is the Dacia Duster EV?
Hopefully they resist that for years but looking unlikely. I used to like berlingos until Citroen made it fully electric, sales plummeted to zero. As they had stopped the ICE version they created issues. Due to absolutely zero EV sales they were forced to bring out the diesel/petrol again but had to be released as a commercial. They have completely destroyed the Berlinger, I hope this does not happen to the duster. But Dacia have said they will hold out as long as possible and use the spring to meet the ridiculous 22% mandates.
It's not happening yet, Dacia plans to wait for the technology to become more affordable before introducing electric versions. This is why it only offers the Spring as its EV option.
Poor engines
What should it have?
I disagree. The best looking Duster so far was the current one before its revamp. This is just dull at the front and yes the side looks cheap but its a relativly cheap car so I forgive it that. If I was in the market for an SUV would I have one? No. There is three types of people that buy these. Tight people, miserable people and boring people. Its for people that are tight and sensible with there money but live boring lives. There is much nicer higher quality machines out there like the Peugeot 4008, Renault Rafale and Scenic that just look so much better and have much nicer interiors so people save a little more and buy yourself a vehicle that you will love to drive and sit in. You only live once.
All the cars you listed are completely different price brackets
@@Fold_Mobile_Gaming Yes and that is why I said people should save more or get a bigger loan over longer terms even. Don't get me wrong the new Duster has some very clever ideas and nice touchs but it still has a hard plasticy dash and looks boring. It will no doubt be a huge success and thats great but I would not but one. You only live once.
This is the one you want??? How many people have a house and posibility to charge it there? Ussless car.
It's a mild hybrid not plug-in. You can't charge it at home.
You don't need to charge it, it's a mild hybrid..... You can't charge it even if you wanted. There is nowhere to plug anything in.....
It's something you use like a regular petrol. All the EV part works inside and you don't want to worry about it. All you have to do is use it just like your regular petrol car, and you are even benefitted more with a lesser hole in your pocket. 😊
Dime... bar😂
plug in what? you need a reset and a recharge it seems!
I would buy it if it didnt have that horrible piece of grey plastic on the outside of the door
