@Al I agree with you. Also when I watch stuff from before about 1998 the game seems so much slower and there seemed to be more space/time for attackers, I know they are more protected now but idk, just looks slower and sloppier.
The simulation and diving is absolutely horrendous in today's game no question.

I think him and Vidic might have been the last true defenders in terms of no nonsense defending. People mention Ramos and while I'd have him in my team, I see him as a great (not extraordinary) defender who can win matches with his attacking abilities esp in set pieces. Defensively, I've seen him make so many 'David Luiz' type errors in El Classicos......
