As a defender in an amateur league in the Netherlands, I sincerely thank you for this compilation. During the pandemic I've been cruising through a lot of football compilations, and of course the prevalent stuff are the dribbles, the skills and the goals. And I love those things, they're eye catching, sometimes bafflingly beautiful, but the sheer amount of running, bashing and sliding on dry pitches (and yes also on artificial turf) that defenders do is often under appreciated. Therefore, massive thank you for these clips: these guys show how it's done and that motivated me a lot!
Me too I play in an amateur league with the top third team in the league and plus I was there only reason they topped the group in the global cup (the champions league in the area) and this also motivated me too
As an attacker Defenders are crucial and play a massive part, football is a team game, it maybe mostly the forwards who win trophys... But its the defenders who have most pressure because its their jobs not to concede a goal... They are the back bone of the team

Like so many others I see commenting on this video I am also an amateur defender, here in my country Argentina...and it was really a pleasure to see this video. Since I was little I felt much more identified with the great defenders of football instead of the star strikers. Undoubtedly, defending well, stealing a ball, saving a goal, etc is an art and it is what ends up winning the games.

As a left winger who used to play as a right back this shows how fun and how much of a strong job you have to do as a defender.when I played defence.I stopped a lot of counter attacks that could’ve put my team in a bad position on the leaderboard, I used to play in division 8 but I’m now in division 2 now,so a massive improvement.

As a defender, I feel like our role is the most important role in soccer/football and yet we don’t get talked about. Attackers are also important because we need to score obviously, but without defenders we will not win/get scored on so that’s why I feel that defenders are very important. (My opinion)
