To think that this guy came from one of the wealthiest families in Brazil and literally injured his vertebrae and still managed to have a hall of fame career, it's just mind boggling! Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite basically played for the love of the game. He had no financial incentive or motive. He was unable to walk for almost a year while recovering from a pool incident that broke his back. Then to play for many years at his style of elegant European moves/tactics with a hint of Brazilian flavor, makes Kaka one of the best tales in the history of FIFA! Won everything at club level with Milan. Won a lot of trophies with the Brazilian national team. And even played in the MLS (Orlando). Much respect to this dude!
I don't know why people barely talk about him. I'm a Messi fan, and yeah people always talk about R9,Pelé,Maradona,Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. But never do they mention Kaka. Shows how unrecognised he was.
With all respect, of course he isn't mentioned among the very very best of all time. He was great and a sight to behold but he is not in the top 10 of all time nor the top 20. But again Dinho also is not in the top 10 and R9 is hovering around 10th. So sad to say, I really like and miss Kaka but he is not quite up there. Among Brazilians alone you have to put R9, Pele, Garrincha and Zico above him with Jairzinho, Carlos Alberto, Socrates and Dinho at the same level.. Roberto Carlos too. Then you still have Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Maradona, Platini, Zidane, Eusebio, Maldini, Buffon, Yashin, Di Stefano, Puskas (and more) above him from other countries. Clearly there is a reason he is not mentioned together with Messi and Cr7, they are simply at least one full level above even Prime Kaka.
Kaka and Rooney are my favourite players. It was a pleasure to watch them play. Cant believe the player whose I grew up watching and would never miss a match to watch are now considered previous generation and Legends. Time flies.

Edit: I see people coming up with Zidane,Ronaldinho,R9 and CR7 in the comments.They sure are phenomenal players.Zidane had the elegance but missed out on pace.Ronaldinho was quick and the closest but doesn't have the ruthless pace of Kaka(His acceleration was insane).R9 was a combination of speed, technique and strength.But Kaka's slender build was more easy on the eyes in my opinion. As for CR7 he doesn't have the finesse of Kaka.(I'm a CR7 fan)

To think that this guy came from one of the wealthiest families in Brazil and literally injured his vertebrae and still managed to have a hall of fame career, it's just mind boggling! Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite basically played for the love of the game. He had no financial incentive or motive. He was unable to walk for almost a year while recovering from a pool incident that broke his back. Then to play for many years at his style of elegant European moves/tactics with a hint of Brazilian flavor, makes Kaka one of the best tales in the history of FIFA! Won everything at club level with Milan. Won a lot of trophies with the Brazilian national team. And even played in the MLS (Orlando). Much respect to this dude!
I don't know why people barely talk about him. I'm a Messi fan, and yeah people always talk about R9,Pelé,Maradona,Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. But never do they mention Kaka. Shows how unrecognised he was.

With all respect, of course he isn't mentioned among the very very best of all time. He was great and a sight to behold but he is not in the top 10 of all time nor the top 20. But again Dinho also is not in the top 10 and R9 is hovering around 10th.
So sad to say, I really like and miss Kaka but he is not quite up there.
Among Brazilians alone you have to put R9, Pele, Garrincha and Zico above him with Jairzinho, Carlos Alberto, Socrates and Dinho at the same level.. Roberto Carlos too. Then you still have Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Maradona, Platini, Zidane, Eusebio, Maldini, Buffon, Yashin, Di Stefano, Puskas (and more) above him from other countries. Clearly there is a reason he is not mentioned together with Messi and Cr7, they are simply at least one full level above even Prime Kaka.
