Glad to see Lumi's well again! We have the same problem with one of our bunnies, he is a white ball of fur just like Lumi. I think it's perfectly fine if you know it's a common thing for your pet and if you know the serious signs to look out for. We know exactly when he needs to go to the vet, but if we don't see those we are happy to spare him from the stress of the vet visit.

Julia, when my guinea pig needed antibiotics for a urinary tract infection I would wrap her rather tightly in a towel so that only her face was exposed. This kept her calm and made it very easy to give her the medicine without a mess. Wishing yours and everyone else's piggies good health!

About a month ago, my Hamster Gizmo died to some sickness and when we knew about it, it was too late. I miss her. But I’m very happy that this video exists for people that are in the same situation I was with their Guniea Pigs so they can give them the right treatment in time. This is a very good channel that has probably saved at least a few Rodent lives before. Keep it up 👍

One of my piggies actually passed away recently because of bloat that was not caught in time, and I am still very sad. I’m happy that Lumi is better now though!
Thankfully I've never had a guinea pig with bloat so it was really useful to see poor Lumi and what it looks like. If it happens again could you do another shot from above of her on your knee so that we can see a before and after. That would be really useful. Thanks x
Nuget looks like she is ready to unlock the door when she hangs over it her little paw it rite near the latch and Lumi hope your belly feels better my one girl gets that too our gas med is strawberry flavor and she loves it when I have to give it thankfully

This is such a helpful video. I literally got back from the vet as my piggy had hay stuck in her eye, I removed it but decided to get her checked out. If I didn't get her checked out, the vet said she would need her eye removed and so to treat the ulser I have 2 eyedrops to give to her. Hope lumi feels better soon x
Julia I have a guinea pig with respiratory problems. I have to give her medicine via a syringe once in a while as well. My vet gave me a very good trick to make syringing easier. You just take a blanket or a towel. You put your guinea pig on the towel, but the head needs to be on the edge of the towel. Than you take all the sides of the towel and cross it over your guinea pig (you are basically making a burrito out of your guinea pig). Than pick her up and hold her vertically. This is called the burrito wrap. you can search examples on google. By doing this, you will make sure your guinea pig cannot crawl backwards, forwards or sideways. The only thing they can still move is their head. Just put your fingers against one side of the head, so the guinea pig won't be able to shake it anymore. Than you give her the syringe. This may all sound a bit harsh, but it truly is the best way to syringe feed your guinea pig. It is also less stressfull as you are done way faster. I hope this will help you a little. I hope Lumi gets better soon!

Robin Bramlett the way that I got my parents to let me get one was because I started being super responsible with cleaning up after myself I have two dogs so I started feeding them instead of my mom feeding them cleaning up their toys and putting them away and lust over all starting to do my responsibilities
When my pig was having issues with his poop I was given banana flavored medicine. The vet said the guinea pigs preferred that flavor. Poor Lumi. Stress affects piggies so seriously.
This happens to one of my boys. He gets tummy trouble when he is stressed. It scared me the first time and I took him straight to the vet but there was no sign of bloat. The second time it happened I knew he wasn't swollen so no sign of bloat. I just gave him baby gas drops in a syringe and he was fine. Eating and lively and happy. I just think when he is nervous it upsets his tummy.
It’s nice to know SOME people take care of their pets. Mine just passed away this past Fri. I was only to watch him for a few weeks for my ex wife and she would take care of all expenses. Fast forward 2 years the boys were still here. She paid for everything up till the week of Father’s Day when me and my children begged her to take the one to the vet, because of weight loss, crackling in his breathing she said she didn’t have time, now. The days passed and this past Fri Peanut passed away in my arms🤧. This really crushed me because it seems he took a liking to me, which made it worse for me, I miss him and it has been difficult. You may ask why I didn’t take him, sad to say, I’m out of work and financially strapped, and no vets would work with me. The ex wasn’t allowed to have the pigs because of her husband. 2 yrs now and she has 6 and just bought a skinny. And she feels no remorse. R. I. P., little buddy.

I got the flat back glass water bottle and the round dowel hay rack and they're perfect! Finally a hay rack that my piggies will use!!!!
