Thanks Dylan !! You have renewed our confidence that we can get smooth footage and that we can be prepared to full fill our missions, no dilly dallying, with battery to burn.
Thanks Dylan. Awesome vids. Very well planned and detailed descriptions that are easy to understand. I planned out a lengthy and complicated waypoint flight with points of interest right after watching your vids. Now I need to make a simple one and get the courage to press the start button. After getting some experience I'll go back and look at the fancy one to see what needs fixing. A+ Anyone looking to get going with Litchi should go to your vids first.
Great video! To add my 2 cents, you can improve accuracy by having your gimbal focused at a single POI for at least two consecutive waypoints. My rule is at least two waypoints at 100ft or greater distant from each other per POI.
I've been slacking, I have a lot of videos to watch and get caught up. Great tutorial now I want Litchi, and before 16 minutes ago I didn't even know it was a thing!
Just stumbled on your video. One tip when using GPS in general whether it be a drone or dedicated GPS unit. You're going to find that with Google maps the satellite overlay vs the roads will be off. Has nothing to do with your drone or the application but the way the waypoints are placed. If you're using visual reference only good chance it's not going to match up to the actual GPS coordinates. I put together maps for various events in my area and I always have to use more than one source to ensure that things are placed properly. (ie support tents, outhouses, etc) If you want really accurate waypoints take a dedicated GPS unit out and manually mark the spot then import those into your computer or manually input them in the Litchi mission map online.
because of your videos i am an expert in using litchi...i have been using litchi for most of my shots. the waypoint with POI is the best compared to DJI go...i was able to see crime scenes in my neighborhood and take documentary shots of my town. litchi is reliable...hope they would update it
Litchi app I use it for quite a while now and it’s a blast. Even improved. Very stable. It’s a fire-and-forget tool, you predefine your flight and camera plan on the couch at home, take your drone to the spot you designed as starting point, which doesn’t need to be the rth point, upload your flight plan, put your drone up in the air and hit start. ! Important: watch the screen and keep your fingers close to the controls. And don’t forget your preflight checks! Tip: also try the other flight modes in litchi! There are quite a few now.
Litchi did exactly what is was supposed to do. The path by the cul-de-sac was too close for it keep it in the center of the video. Thats's why I always try and fly farther away from the point of interest so it can stay in the middle. Great video. I love Litchi and use it exclusively whenever I fly DJI drones.
Emerslam: Alternate explanation which matches my experience better: when consecutive waypoints WP1 and WP2 are assigned to look at different POIs (POI1 and POI2), Litchi smoothly transitions the camera's orientation from the first POI to the second, as it travels between the waypoints. The camera will not full point at POI2 until the drone reaches WP2 (or at the center of the curve associated with WP2). So if you want the drone to be looking directly at POI2 before it reaches WP2, you have to put in an intermediate waypoint, between WP1 and WP2, that's also set to look at POI2.
This is really cool. I am definitely getting this app and going to try lots of these cool shots with my mavic pro 2. I honestly prefer the autonomous flight modes to manually flying the drone.
Yes signifies is a word......you used it correctly too. Thanks for the vid. Do you know how to add waypoints while the drone is in flight?? Would like to know.....
Thanks , great tutorial as always, I’ve just started with litchi so am following these tutorials with great interest thanks again, have you tried doing a mission in google earth that would be a fantastic video 😀
Ian Wilkinson when you create the mission you can save it as a KML file and them import it into Google Earth Pro so that you can simulate the mission, handy if you want to do sunset and sunrise missions as you can also toggle sunrise and sunset in Google Earth Pro as it knows sunset and sunrise times on any given day.
Great informative videos..... is there a way to transfer the saved file to another iPad? Say you programme on an 11” air and want to transfer it to your iPad Mini with the mavic..? Thanks..
Hi nice video, I know this was done back on 2018, but question do you know if the drone looses connection with the controller will it stay on the mission and complete??
Tank you Dylan for a great tutorial. I heard you mention there was an earlier beginning version could you add a link to that. I have not yet decided to download this app or Dronelink.
I know it was a while back and you might not remember properly but are those heights at the way points above ground level or above home point level you know how does that be affected if the area you’re travelling over is quite hilly and some of your points of interest are considerably higher in height above sea level than your starting point
Great video. I have a question. I had to make a short video of a new house project away from my town. I would have like to prepare my mission with litchi in advance. Is there a way to enter either the City name, or coordinates, etc away from the actual site where the video will be taken ? Thank you in advance, George
Thanks for this tutorial. From the litchi users, is it worthed to invest in buying litchi comparing it to the currently available DJI software? With DJI, while flying the drone in waypoint mode, one can feel a slight jerk in the gimbal/camera positioning while switching between the reference points. In this tutorial, it seems quite smooth. Has this issue been addressed in the recent version of the DJI software? or if you would please share any tips in getting rid of this in DJI. What are the other advantages of litchi over DJI software which makes buying litchi a wise investment?
Pretty cool! one doubt man... what´s happen if drone loses RC signal while running Waypoints on Litchi? will it still running Waypoints or will RTH ... ? Thank´s for tutorial!
Great Video, Thanks! Litchi has a new beta which allows the use of OTG cable on Android/IOS with the Spark. Any chance your could do this video with The Spark using the new beta and the OTG cable between the remote and the Tablet/phone? Thanks
Another good one, Dylan. When would you want to use interpolate? I know it allows you to adjust the gimbal but seems like not that useful most of the time.
Subbed earlier today and Wana say thanks for this easy to understand tutorial, keep up the good work 👍🏼. Two questions, can I do this for the Dji spark as well ? Also can I use the advanced waypoint mission at night either on the mavic or spark?
Hey Dylan (or anyone else), newbie to missions. Can someone explain to me the heights of the POI's. Is the height referenced from your takeoff point or AGL? I want to pre plan some missions and am nowhere near the location so I have no frame of reference for my take off point. thanks
The height of the POIs are the actual height of the subject you are filming , not the terrain height . If it is a mailbox then select @3' . The roof of a commercial building may be 30-50' but if you want the front door to stay in frame then select @ 6' .
Hi Dylan I noticed you focused and got an infinity symbol mid mission - one of the problems with Litchi in Waypoint mode is it loses focus and you need to set an infinity focus, can you explain what you did in that part of the video?
For the most part, I enjoyed this video, and learned from it. My only issue is that you jump too much from drone video to map view. Made it hard to keep my focus on one or another, which I'd rather see the actual footage from the drone, than the map (even if you're referring to the map). Otherwise, Thanks.
Love my mavic pro I have no desire to buy a mavic 2 pro just not worth it to me if you look at the money.. But maybe you can explain something to me.. If you could do waypoints with this app. How come DJI doesn't allow this in their DJI go 4 app but they do with the mavic pro 2. You obviously can do a mission without having to fly first using litchi Why did they never allow this on the DJI go 4 app. I just don't get it...
Hi Dylan, I would like to ask something, we live in Malta and we have quite a famous church here, The Mosta Dome. I would like to fly a mission around the church using waypoints, instead of POI, during the mission I want my drone (Mavic Air) to fly above the church dome, with my camera pointing straight down on the center of the dome and spin around once or twice and the carry on with the mission, is this possible. I hope you understand what I mean, by the way I am a new pilot and very new to the Litchi app.
Pretty cool. If you weren't controlling line-of-site, it'd actually make this a true drone, not just a quadcopter. People seem to get them confused for some reason.
Yes Go to the Mission Hub on the Litchi Website setup an account and you can do it on a bigger screen and when you login to your account on the app your missions are synced
Great video, thank you! i recently updated my Mavic with the latest firmware, and installed Litchi, so it seems the waypoints flight mode does no longer work.
If you want it to look at a POI for the whole distance between waypoints, I have found that you need to have at least 2 waypoints looking towards the poi. One before and another after or where ever you want to stop looking at a particular poi. Your GPS was probably fine. Between waypoints 4 and 5, it was transitioning to end up looking at the cul-de-sac when it reached waypoint 5. In other words, if you would have added a waypoint right after wp4, it would have looked at the cul-de-sac for the duration between wp5 and wp6. If you do it that way you will end up with some really amazing videos. This entire video was edited from a single litchi waypoint mission. th-cam.com/video/ytAgckw6s7w/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Dylan !!
You have renewed our confidence that we can get smooth footage and that we can be prepared to full fill our missions, no dilly dallying, with battery to burn.
I'm going to have to re-embrace Litchi. .
Your (very well done) tutorials on the topic remind me what I am missing. 👍👍

Man you are on tutorial fire as of late. Another great one. Thanks for this. I really like Litchi and am still learning it.
That was really neat Dylan. Thanks for letting us know how to do it.

Loving these tutorials. Recently got Litchi on sale and have only used the VR mode so far.
Great tutorial! Thank you.
Fantastic video...very clear. You are an excellent teacher!
Nice video.... so much technology and too cool!!
Best tutorial, hands down!

Thank you for putting the effort into the videos, very helpful and very well done
Thanks Dylan, very cool and easy to follow your teaching. I´m gonna try this tomorrow in daylight :-)
You may have convinced me to try Litchi. Thanks for experimenting for us lilly livered pilots. :)
Thanks , great tutorial as always, I’ve just started with litchi so am following these tutorials with great interest thanks again, have you tried doing a mission in google earth that would be a fantastic video 😀

Fantastic! Thank you for that tutorial!
Pre-programmed flight paths were one thing I wanted for my mini2. Have tried the latest litchi software?
Excellent

How's Litchi compare to Maven? Great TUT!
Tank you Dylan for a great tutorial. I heard you mention there was an earlier beginning version could you add a link to that. I have not yet decided to download this app or Dronelink.

Great tutorial. Keep on making them. Do you have any experience of using Litchi with a Spark?
Just lately, litchi and my spark have become best friends !!
They work flawlessly together.

Hi,Dylan. It is an useful Tutorial. Bravo !
Have you tried out Litchi WayPoint with setting that work with DJI Mavic 2 PRO 360º Sphere Shot Mode ?
Dam this is amazing. First drone person I’m subbing too
棒极了
I purchased the app on my tablet but want to download it to my phone to but it wants me to buy it. Do you have to buy for each device?

How do you get the lichi video of your phone, i have a ipod mini but can't find it, not even with itunes
Great video's mate
Hi Dylan. Yes, "signifies" is a word.
Tks. Which version of Litchi ?
What happens when signal loss will it continue the waypoints mission??
Is it safe to upload the mission while the drone flies into the air? Thanks for the vid!!! Since DJI removed waypoints I purchased Litchi
Yeah First commend

Can i make map by litchi with area 2336430 m2 ?
I wish you reply ?
My app doesn't have the menu where you do waypoints. Is there someplace where you turn it on.
Is this possible to prepare the waypoints at computer and use it later? if it does, how?
Yes Go to the Mission Hub on the Litchi Website setup an account and you can do it on a bigger screen and when you login to your account on the app your missions are synced
Flying from waypoint 4 to waypoint 5 required rotating counterclockwise and you left the rotation direction set to clockwise.
After you RTH (after a waypoint mission) can you switch to the FPV mode for landing?
Gary Border yes 👍
Thank you
Great video, thank you! i recently updated my Mavic with the latest firmware, and installed Litchi, so it seems the waypoints flight mode does no longer work.
You could try reverting to a previous firmware. I have been using an old mavic firmware with litchi for months with no problems.
Can you fly first in Litchi and THEN add and save the route with waypoints once you are done?
Don Rogers Not sure about Litchi but you can with the DJI native app
Try the same mission but use interpolate between the POIs.
