5K! Congrats. Another good video. Really like the catch pen, I’ve not seen those panels for sheep. Would work great for sheep too (we’ve always used cattle panels).
I think you have come up with a good plan. Give momma's a treat while working catching the piglets. Maybe some pumpkins if you have any left. Get mom's mind off you are catching their babies.
What make are those corral panels? Feel like a good buy? Ive been using some White Clover Farm style wooden ones for loading sheep on pasture and for jugs.
Hey y'all I'm curious, if I could get rolls of chain link fence for free would that be ok to use instead of hog panels until my feeders are fully accustomed to the electric fence?
You need those sows out of the way as if those piglets squeal the sows will turn on you, we had a guy on the farm tried weaning with sows in the field and he was taken too hospital having 30 plus stitches
@@SheratonParkFarms awesome, I need that lol. Great job with all you 2 do. We need to see the doggie more. Just a by weekly update. Can he watch the chickens when your not lambing ? Well I couldn’t listen to your podcast well a little, but I had it on , Hopfully that helped ya todd
So we would not have a son breeding a mother or sister. Trying to keep some fresh genetics in the group. Hopefully we'll never have to do that again. Appreciate ya'll watching.
I was thinking more along the lines of why feed a boar if sperm is pretty cheap and accessible? I thought you had said on one occasion you had paid $ 20 for sperm,i believe it was like $180 another I may be quite wrong?
Having grew up on a farm I thought you not having a boar was a genus idea having had to eat me some boar bacon before,i remember telling my dad some bacon tasted funny and he replied its from a boar hog son
Keep us posted , these are the sort of issues that all homesteaders need to learn about . Always looking for new ideas 😎👍
Will do. Thanks for watching
Pigs are so smart and they definitely know you’re up to something.
No kidding. 🤣🤣

Sure. Can’t see any reason that would not work. Great idea!

Agree. They become VERY aggressive. Thanks for watching
Yeah that should work better , maybe . Who is the guy ? Full time helper ?
That’s David. He rents our upstairs in exchange for labor. Great guy and a hard worker! Been a blessing to the farm.

I’m just curious why you decided to go buy a boar?

your pigs will go in the box better if it is made with hog panels instead of solid plywood
Good point. We may have to give that a try.
