  • IN todays video we work on a vauxhall vivaro - reversing camera installation. Amongst this we managed to fit a 2kw diesel heater, side step and USB socket for the customer. With the diesel heater we have used a t piece and tapped in to the fuel return line of the vehicle, this saves using a separate fuel tank.

    Nice, we did the same on my Trafic, used a wire coat hanger to feed it down the rear door panel and then through the flexi conduit, found the wiring loom and tapped into it right where the conduit brings the cables into the van. Also ran the live for the monitor from the back too to save taking the headliner down as the cables were long enough

    2:12 Top tip 1: I didn't need to take off the top light cluster I was able to feed some TV coax cable, which is stiff allowing yo to push it, through that rubber ducting into the van. Top tip 2: I sprayed the cable with some cooking oil and it slid in nicely and never played hard to get. :)

    Of the white wires by the fuse box, how did you work out which wire was the reverse wire? I have several white wires. A really fat one and a few other smaller ones. Many thanks.

    This vid is great thank you! I'm nearly there with mine, but I just wondered how you isolated the white cable in the passenger footwell?

      I used a multimeter with the ignition on and put the vehicle in and out of reverse. the fact the cable at the rear of the vehicle was white I started with the white ones at the front footwell as I already know this loom leads to the rear of the vehicle.

      @@BuiltnotBoughtCampersI ended up cutting into the wire much closer to the reversing light as I had trouble tracing the wire towards the cab. The wire turned out to be purple in my '08 2.5 CDTI but there are multiple of that colour running to the front. Just posting this as it might help someone.
      All working really well now, I don't think I'd have taken it on if not for this video, so thank you.

    Hiya,when you did this did you put both power and reverse detection wire o to this? I've tried finding the correct reverse wire but it's not any of the normal colours at the front.

    Hi not very good with electrics is the fuse needed or can I just solder a 3 way power supply?

    • @BuiltnotBoughtCampers
      @BuiltnotBoughtCampers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would always place an inline fuse if you cant connect it to the main fuse box, what system have you got or planning to get?

      @@BuiltnotBoughtCampers similar to yours mate, the reverse cam that fits behind the top brake light lens, planning on wiring it to like 5 or 7 inch screen, electrics have never been my thing but il definitely have to order some of them fuses you was using

    Ok but why turns on only when you put the gear on reverse? Wouldn't it be better to be always on?
