Just got the fuel pump replaced a couple of weeks ago now this. I can just see a failure on the interstate where the big trucks roam where it's tricky enough without a locked up rear wheel. Love the bike but a bit nervous about riding her until I get this problem taken care of. I wish there was more detail about the percentages of bikes affected plus if there is anything a rider can do to reduce the odds while waiting for the fix.
This should affect all 18 through 21 goldwing worldwide, but the US has the national highway traffic and safety administration, NHTSA that governs safety recalls.

The hysteria is over less than 1% of roughly 18,000 of these particular Goldwings sold in USA. Good for TH-cam clicks, especially for this guy who offers ZERO DATA.
@steven.h0629 yea, you just have to worry about the ADG failing with the 01 to 17 models...or the transmission/ ghost shifting failures that plagued the old model...both of those issues requires the engine to be removed and cost over 3k to fix...Honda fixed those issues with the redesigned engine used in the 2018 plus Gold Wing.
@seatime674 the ADG was redesigned in 2006..but still there has been failures with the redesign ADG...the ghost shifting affected the 01 to 2013..Honda made changes with the transmission with the 2014 model...these issues happened way too much and it took Honda 13 years to address the transmission issue that happened with far too many bikes..I was lucky that I never had these issues with my 2003, but I did have a frame replacement with my 2003 because of the frame cracking issue...but after my 2003 had the redesigned frame installed that Honda made changes to in mid 2004, my 2003 was problem free til I traded it for my 2018...but Honda finally addressed the ADG and transmission issues with the old model with the redesigned engine in the 2018 plus model
@@frankward8003 Yes I know the frame cracking issue went from 01-04 something like that. I have the '07 that's Mint nothing aftermarket with only 14k mi and don't really use it that much so I'm not worried about Big Ticket items failing at this point. I had my eye on a '18 but the rear top saddlebag they didn't make bigger till '21 to even fit a helmet so now it has to be a '21 but with this issue my window is '22 and up now. I also heard complaints on the '18+ about lifter ticking on the right side head which concerned me. My only complaint on Gen 5 and my '07 is the loud clunky gear shifts you'd think it could be quieter.. I'm wondering if a certain oil would quiet it down a little...
@seatime674 With my 2018, I am able to put two helmets in the trunk. My helmet is a Shoei RF1200 and the other is a 3/4 helmet..but both fit in the trunk..as for the transmission shifting, the newest wing transmission is a hugh upgrade over the old models..shorter, crisper shifting and quieter, the 6 -speed is a much more refined transmission..you also have the DCT choice....one of my favorite upgrades with this newest wing is the 6 speed transmission, but there are many upgrades with this newest wing...it's noticably lighter, has a more fuel efficient engine and the ADG issue was redesigned, power windshield, the electronics..the brakes were awesome on the old wing, but even better on this newest model...the only mods I've had to do with my 2018 was the seat...went with a RDL seat and can ride over 900 miles in comfortable with the RDL seat. I loved my 2003 Gold Wing and rode it for 15 years, but this 2018 is even better

Dealer contacted me today, "Parts have become available for the Primary bolt recall on the Goldwing. I have ordered a kit for you."
Anymore, quality is in the crapper for many manufactures. Too many recalls going on.

According to what I read on the Gold Wing forums...Honda has fixed the few Gold Wings that have had this failure even if they were out of warranty.
That is good will indeed. Even though I don't have a Goldwing, it's encouraging that Mr H is actively sorting the issue.
I’m a UK owner so keen to understand what % of US bikes were affected?

Dang! That's a huge engine to destroy over a bolt.
I'm happy with my 2008 🙂

@@frankward8003 The ADG issue was only through 01-05 and ghost shifting is extremely rare

Could be worse, it could say KTM on the tank.
