The most toxic mother-daughter relationship I have ever seen in my whole life. Although Shadow Weaver isn't "completely" wrong about Catra being just like her. As we could see later in throughout the series, Catra grew to become manipulative and toxic with her relationships/friendships.(just like SW) But Catra is like that because of SW's upbringing. The good part about Catra's arc is that she was able to redeem herself. But people weren't willing to trust SW or at least give her a second chance. (I could see why though) But I believe everyone has the ability to redeem themselves. Anyways, nice video ideas!(found in the description box)
Definitely. It isn't that surprising that Catra became like her. That usually happens when you grow up with people. I'm going to take myself as an example. My relationship with my mom is a lot like this. I always told myself that if I became anything like her, I'd "off" myself. And now that I'm older, I'm a lot like her and perhaps even worse. But I accepted that that can happen when you grow up with someone. You either turn out the same way or completely different. I'm glad Catra was able to redeem herself. She deserved that. And while she'll struggle with doing the right thing and acting the right way for a while, she'll get there. She wants to change herself, shadow weaver does not. She may not have been very evil while she was a bright moon and she did that one good thing, I'll still hate her forever lol. You are completely right.
The thing is, Shadow Weaver did get second chances. But she always ended up manipulating Catra and then Glimmer even trough Adora said she abused her. And even though Shadow Weaver sacrificed herself at the end, that doesn't forgive the years of abuse towards Catra, Adora and Mi-Cah. SW is a child abuser and some people don't deserve redemption.
I mean, the thing with Shadow Weaver's words here is that she probably was raised by a narc mom, too. But what happens to narc kids when they don't seek help? They learn to normalize it. Like was happening with Catra in s4, where she was abusing Scorpia, Lonnie, and the others, and the other things she did all throughout the series. By the way Shadow Weaver talks, she became a narcissist "mom" herself, and believe what her own mom did to her made her "stronger" (hence why she's trying to pass it ahead). Abuse traumatizes you so much sometimes you just surrender. Of course, I'm just theorizing here. Besides, being abused don't excuse you from the shit you choose to do to others. It doesn't excuse Shadow Weaver, nor Catra, or anyone else.

Shadow Weaver wasn't trying to get better, and sacrificing herself was the perfect choice for her; she'd go down but would be remembered as a hero. And, I don't forgive Catra for some things and in the end, I hope Lonnie Kyle and Rogelio stop talking to her. I hope there are some people who refuse to forgive her even though she was the fruit of abuse. It's a pattern. First SW's mom towards SW, then sw towards Catra and Catra towards her friends. But Catra decided to cut the pattern and SW, even when she went and sided with the rebellion, didn't even try to cut off her toxic traits.
As someone who had a broken mother, I can relate entirely. Taking the punishment for my siblings, trying to show her my worth through thick and thin... To try and keep my body and my honor to her standards... I appreciate characters like this.. to illuminate to the generations to have something to relate to or to show the reality in a gentle way of someone always trying to appease to the only one who would keep them.
i hated how shadow weaver said she was mean to catra because she reminded herself of her. if she did remind you of yourself, you should have taken care of her, and teach her well. i think she should have gone through much more if she wanted to be forgive. yea, she sacrificed herself, but i'm not exactly satisfied. catra really isn't my favorite either, but she had to go through so much, so her character arc was great. sorry for my long rant, bye :)

I hate Shadow Weaver so much for the way she treated Catra her sacrifice in the finale wasn't enough to make me even have sympathy for her. My heart broke for Catra so many times 😭💔

Despite how crazy unhealthy their relationship was and how much Shadow Weaver clearly favored Adora, you can tell she definitely had a soft spot for Catra too. Like the fact that I don't recall her saying anything once about Catra being out of uniform and even offered words of comfort to her when she came to her about Horde paperwork rather than playing mind games from her jail cell made me feel like she was giving her twisted version of tough love to the tougher daughter.
This is fabulous! Poor Catra! She-Ra definitely did a great job showing Catra and Shadow Weaver's abusive mother/daughter relationship. Just poor Catra! She didn't deserve all of that abuse! No one does! I'm soo happy Shadow Weaver is gone! Catra deserves to heal and keep creating more relationships who will provide her with all the love she deserves! Frankly so does Adora too! Both Adora and Catra deserve to heal from Shadow Weaver's abuse together! Because Catra isn't like Shadow Weaver! It's like Catra said, why does she get to be the good guy? Why does she get to have people _care_ about her in the end when she'd done nothing to deserve it? And yet it made sense, in such a twisted way, but still. She was like their mother, so of course seeing her die would affect them. Make them sad. Seeing them cry, _that_ made me sad, but again, it also pissed me off cause her death didn't deserve anything else but a good riddance. Completely agree with everything you said! I cried the first time I saw SW's death scene because it broke my heart to see Catra and Adora so devastated. But in no way did I feel bad for SW or ever will. She really upsets me too. Anybody who's been abused is going to be triggered by her especially.

Please take care on saying that, Catra was phisically and mentally abused her whole childhood by her and it messed up with her mind, the abuse on childhood can cause severe consequences on a person's mind. I recommend the video 'Why Catra matters' to explain better how the abuse reflected on her and made her take terrible decisions. Im not hating on you and im not mad, im just trying to explain that blaming Catra and innocenting Shadow Weaver that is her abusor is not a good thing.☹️

@@sosososososo123 She really did a lot of damage, but we don't know what Shadow Weaver did in the time on the Horde, because we only see her acting one season there, but she stayed there for a lot of years , and all the damage that Catra did was directly on indirectally influenced by how she created her, this does not excuse her actions, but Shadow Weaver manipulated her to think that she didn't was worth nothing and that no one would love her, she couldn't have directly damage Etheria, at least from what we see in the show. But she damaged the minds of kids and teenagers just to do what she wanted like:Micah, Adora, Catra and Glimmer on the 4th season.
