I’m 16 and did this last year. In my last year of school now, even though it hasn’t been great. I still love school. Cool how this great book has a special place in all students hearts. Past, present and soon to be future. I’m really gonna miss school when it’s done I know it… enjoy good things while they last kids.
I think this is an unpopular opinion, but I feel sympathy for Curley's wife. Everyone out here in the comments is hating on her but why? She wasn't a bad person, and she wasn't really trying to seduce Lennie. She only wanted a person to talk to and bc she was the only woman on the ranch, the only way she was going to get that was by using her looks bc no one would have listened to her otherwise. Plus, she had dreams. Some people are complaining that she "ruined everything" but no one is addressing the fact that she had her dreams taken from her too. I feel pity for her bc she doesn't even have a name and yet she played such a huge role in of the movie. It's like in the end, she'll always be seen as an object rather than an actual human being. I don't think she deserved what happened to her (edit: Guys, if you want to argue with me then please do it respectfully. I wrote this a year ago, it's literally just my opinion on a FICTIONAL scene, and I'm honestly tired of people arguing and degrading me over some book opinion that I quite frankly don't even remember what happened in it. thank you)
I agree with you. It's been a while since I read the book but Curley's wife was a sympathetic character. She was extremely lonely and living an unhappy life. It's sad what happened to her and I think she and Lennie were very tragic characters.
I’m 16 and did this last year. Cool how this great book has a special place in all students hearts. Past, present and soon to be future. I’m really gonna miss school when it’s done I know it…
No they wouldn’t it’s important for her not to have a name as it makes her seem like an extension of Curley like property which is what Curley wants of her and how she feels sometimes
and it also shows how we as a people tend to follow along with trends and what other people believe or think about topics rather than getting to know about them ourselves, thus only knowing the cover
She sure is a nice lady. Poor Lenny. All this time he thought you can get a small place and rabbits all by working hard. Once you work hard you will always work hard. You'll never earn enough money to buy a small place anywhere.
Even though he barely understands what they're saying, something about Lenny encourages both Crooks and Curly's Wife to open up to him and tell him things they wouldn't tell anyone else on the property.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if Steinbeck made a sequel and said that curly's wife was lennie's aunt clara? It would make sense - we don't know here 1st name and he instantly likes her. Maybe lennie is a time traveller and he travelled back in time with george. maybe his brain was messed up so george wanted to give him a new life - maybe he escaped hell in his 'present'' and curly is lennie's uncle. If that is, HOLY SHIT if not D'oh.
Well, the only determination for that assure is by John Steinbeck---which he didn't state. So that leaves with people having their own preferences---or theories. So Andrew justin, that is just a conspiracy---it's unofficial.
Personally, a "closeted" homosexual has to be quite irrelevant. Also, I just realized that Curly, as stated in the book, has anger issues because he's arrogant and doesn't like "tall" people because he's "short". He also has a wife---whom he craved to marry. Thus the hearsay doesn't make any sense that he is predicted to be "homosexual".
Um no she didn't. Either way the ranch wasn't possible. It was George who left Lennie alone. Do you really expect someone to not talk to anyone except one person their who life? SMH
I get it curley's wife did horrible things and she was not as cool but she was the only women there and I think she deserved better and I have to say she was a good/bad person
