    Watched 3 videos and was ruining the edge of the screen (as Andrey mentioned) since I didn't know where to put the tool (in relation to the thin black rubbery edge) and the tool that came with my battery was too thick. This is the best video showing how to open the phone. I went and bought the same blade demonstrated here and it worked. Thanks for the info.

    Thanks for the help. Between you and a few of the other tutorials I was able to get my battery replaced with minor scratches to the plastic backing. Thanks again. :)

    Just watched this to make my life a little easier. Took my phone in to get repaired, said it needed a battery. Wait time, two weeks. The original was replaced seven months earlier.
    Today is the beginning of the seventh week since the idiots had it, been getting the runaround, battery taking forever to arrive.
    Went this morning and got my phone back, in pieces. When I got home they called and said the battery was in. Needless to say I cussed them out. During this time I ordered two from Amazon. A relative is bringing them in next week.
    Will be putting the phone back together myself. Also ordered a tool kit, most likely I'll have to change the battery again, they seem not to last too long.
    DIY rules!

      Man I had a hard time understanding this... Until I realized "in pieces" meant just taken apart. IMO you should definitely clarify that, given when things are destroyed, one of the terms people use is "in pieces". I'd change it to, "taken apart and in pieces". I kept thinking, "man, those store owners are dicks, phoning you after you got home with the phone they destroyed to tell you the battery arrived", lol. Woulda been troll level 1000000000000000.

    Replaced 2 Nexus 6p's batteries successfully tonight. Didn't take long and if you buy the kit on Amazon plus use a hair dryer and some precision knives- you'll have everything you need. Suggestions- use an old gift card or something similar to help with the adhesive areas. Take your time with separating the case from the screen/motherboard. That part really was the hardest. Take your time separating the old battery from the housing it is in. Don't bend the old battery. Our phones now run faster and hold a charge once again 😅

    if you have to replace the battery again, will that glue you use be a problem? I've seen other videos and they seem to replace thos removed parts without any adhesive. Thoughts?

    Hey I bought this phone 2 days ago unaware of the issue. I am good with phones and are good at fixing them, but how is the phone now. How's the battery

    What none of the videos I watched mention: on the outer edge of the screen is a thin rubber band - you need to pry on the OUTSIDE of that band to separate the shell from the phone's screen/innards. Otherwise CRACK your glass will go - as seen first hand :) :/

      @jcidyn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrey Radovski Is the band black? I bought this phone 2 days ago and it has this issue. This phone phone is my daily driver and I want to make sure I don't break it.

      I made this mistake, I put the blade between the glass and the black band. I ended up screwing up that black plastic band a bit until I figured out I had to do it between the outside case and that black band. Wasn't too bad in the end since my phone case covers up the screwed up area.

    Why didn't you use 3m tape apart from b7000 glue on the bottom ? Also, can you suggest a heat gun that I can buy from internet?

    I should be able to do this with a hair dryer instead of a heat gun right ?

      @bobstephen2828 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but remember the top bit is glass and you can't bend it up like you can the bottom bit. Slide things under it.

    • @Metical1312
      @Metical1312 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was able to do it with a hair dryer but it was wayyyy harder to pry open then in this video, I think he has already opened the phone before recording this and is doing it for a 2nd time. I also used double sided tape instead of glue to reseal. I also had to basically bend the old battery out from the casing considering it was glued in there almost with cement , I heated the phone up so much that was hot to the touch before and had to let it cool down a bit before I could remove it. In the end got everything out and installed with out damaging my phone and breaking glass. Thanks for the guide.

    • @techguyz708
      @techguyz708  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one was never opened before, but the heat gun is quite hotter than a hair dryer, so that is why it looks easier. The battery is quite hard to remove, some people have come to me with a broken screen after attempting this.

    I guarantee everyone that this issue will be solved after replacing the battery. You won't get original battery these days easily. So, go for some other company battery.
    Get the 3450 mah battery from Flipkart or Amazon after checking their star rating. It will cost around 9$ to 11$ only. I did that for my 3 year old Google Nexus 6p and now it doesn't shut down until below 1percent battery.
    However, do this yourself by seeing some TH-cam videos on replacing battery diy. No need to find a Google or Huawei service center for as simple thing as changing the battery.
    I love my phone very much now and I play minecraft on it daily.
    This phone is great, no doubt. But other phones too get their battery weakened after 2 to 3 years. So, do not blame your Great Nexus 6p guys.

    Crummy instructions! Yes I damaged my screen, but I blame them since they did not show or explain that you have to "go deep" to get the back off, so instead I pulled the screen off and it was damaged in the process. You need to show better angles and offer more thorough instructions on this part.
