    People disliking something or a person, not only in wrestling, often simply comes from overexposure or people feeling that a person gets more success than deserved. HHH is in many ways is the luckiest wrestler ever.

    Triple H knew the right people to associate with. Whether it was Shawn, Kevin, Scott and Sean (X-Pac) in the Kliq. Or later Stephanie McMahon. It's not like he was Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels or even John Cena (in regards to being the Face of WWE). He was always the second string guy that kept everybody down because he knew that they're more people in the locker room (especially during the Attitude Era) that could run circles around him. And while that has (sort of) gone away thanks to him jobbing when he has to (WrestleMania XXX, Batista in 2005). He still will forever be known as the guy who created a bandwagon for his own career off of other people's success.

      He was mid-carder, yet somehow allowed to be one of the few people in the room when Vince and Pat were going over how they were going to deal with Bret in Canada.
      I frankly don't understand why people still play the fool about the kinda power he had backstage when you factor in The Kliq and Steph. Hell, he met Steph because he was one of the few guys on the talent roster allowed in the creative meetings. Maybe his actions as far as burying people are hyperbole, but the amount of power and influence he had certainly isn't.

    • @anthonyanderson9303

      TheDalinkwent well who do you think put him in those meeting? Vince! He's the one that told him to come into the creative meetings in the first place. He saw the mind that he had for the business and the love he had for it.
      As far as screwing Bret over I've said this a million times. Bret is the guy who always goes on about honor and tradition. Well the time honored tradition has always been you drop the title to the next guy on your way out of the promotion. It doesn't matter to who. If your promoter, the guy who btw turned you into a huge star and basically made you even have this opportunity to get a huge contract in the first place asks to do the job, you do the job. That's the bottom line. It doesn't matter if you don't like the other guy. Plenty of us have to work with people we don't like. This is business. That whole thing was on Bret bottom line.

    • @TheDalinkwent
      @TheDalinkwent 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Anthony Anderson The point is he still had enough power and influence in those times to even sit in on creative meetings regardless of WHY he was there. His best friend was HBK who had Vince wrapped around his finger. Something even Vince and other guys admit. So to act like HHH was just like everyone else is playing the fool.
      Also as far the Bret Hart issue, I agree that Bret was in the wrong and forced Vince's hand, but at the same time that wasn't really the main point of my argument.
      Only a handful of people in the entire company were aware of what was going to happen to Bret and HHH was one of them. In fact it was actually HHH's idea in the first place.
      So to argue he didn't have the influence and power to deny putting people over is rubbish.

    • @anthonyanderson9303
      @anthonyanderson9303 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      TheDalinkwent you honestly think HHH back then, even with being in Vince's ear could convince him to do something like that if Vince wasn't already thinking about it? Vince saw the writing on the wall. Bret was the past, guys like DX and their style of entertainment was the future.
      I just hate this concept that HHH hasn't busted his ass to get where he is. If anything being married to Stephanie put MORE pressure on him to be a company guy and keep his nose clean. He couldn't afford to be like Shawn and get high and screw up. Vince could have blackballed out of the business. I don't think people appreciate the risk he took getting with Steph.

    When HHH loses the title at KOTR 2000, he doesn't get it back til WM18 in 2002. That's nearly two years! He wasn't hogging anything.
    Rikishi says Jericho should have kept the belt a week before HHH is scheduled to drop it to Rock at Backlash? Gee, that made a lot of sense. Right in the middle of Rock/HHH'S rivalry at the hottest point, you want Jericho to have the belt.
    With this logic, Austin doesn't return at Backlash to help Rock. And HHH/Rock don't have their ironman match at Judgement Day.
    You leave too much money on the table with the Rock/Austin/HHH feud feeding into the pop Jericho got one night. That moment served a major seed plant for a future interest in a HHH/Jericho rivalry, and nothing more. Which is what happened.

      @Erlewyn ปีที่แล้ว

      The context it happened, really. One reason being how it started, with Bishoff just giving the belt to him, instead of holding a tournament or something. Apparently they did this to generate heat, but it really rubbed people the wrong way.
      Another reason is that with a dominant heel, you need a strong face to balance things out, but there was no one to fill that role at the time. Rock and Austin were gone or on their way out, Cena was nowhere near ready, Steiner sucked, RVD wasn't trusted because he was high all the time (and didn't really care about the belt anyway), Goldberg couldn't do anything more than a squash…
      As a general rule, people also tend to confuse how they felt about something at the time with the value of it story-wise. Like HHH unmasking Kane, everybody hated that at the time. Except Kane was a joke at the time, and unmasking actually made him threatening again for a while; even he wanted to lose his mask.
      And if anything, marrying Steph was the worst thing to happen to him career-wise, because it cast a shade of nepotism on anything he ever did from that point on.

      @@Erlewyn Triple H never earned the world heavyweight championship. They just gave it to him that's the reason he was never a good champion.
      Many wanted RVD, Edge, Kane or some wrestler to beat him. But Triple H just defeated everyone without ever making his opponents credible.
      Raw was all about his boring promos with no charisma. His matches were also snoozefest.
      When Goldberg defeated Triple H it didn't feel special because Triple H didn't do anything to make Goldberg feel like a top Babyface. He would still come out and do boring promos and make Raw about himself.
      In that context Goldberg was the best world heavyweight champion at that time. He had the look, charisma and intensity. Most of my friends wanted Goldberg to squash Triple H at Wrestlemania 20.
      Even when Benoit became the champion he never felt like a true world champion.
      Triple H got those long reigns in 2002, 2003 and 2004 because he was marrying Stephanie.

    I'm pretty sure everyone feels that Triple H "slithered" his way to the top, however the opinions differ on how much he managed to reach main event status on his own and how much was due to backstage politics. One thing's for sure IMO, he was still really good as a wrestler ( honestly I think I could count on a single hand the number of times he botched ), and he knew how to rile people up. He was a fantastic heel. I think he was a solid antagonist and a worthy opponent for major stars. Did he deserve world titles? Sure. But the real question is: did he deserve that many world titles? I'm not too sure about that. I could name 10 wrestlers who were better than Triple H during his prime easily. They talk about Jericho in this video. IMO Jericho should've been even bigger in WWE during his prime years. In my book prime Jericho is as good as prime HBK.

      okay Jericho as good as prime HBK is exaggerated. But could it not be he was in the company for so long? Triple H, was there for ages. And continued to be there for ages. He's still there now! I mean only wwe does the good guy have the title and beat the bad guy without losing the title. When it does happen with Triple H, i dont think people are used to it.

      @@outis439-A Jericho was/is better on the mic than HBK, could do anything HBK did because he had the same agility and ring IQ. I'm not the only one calling Jericho that good, actual wrestlers did and still do. But you fail to understand what I was bringing here: there are easily a bunch of wrestlers better than Triple H in all skills categories. Mic work, technique, connection with the crowd, ring IQ, strength, agility, etc. In not one of them is he the GOAT. Also Triple H still being there ( he retired so IMO he's not there cause we're talking about wrestling here not behind the scenes work ) is due to his personal circumstances, not because of fan appreciation or whatever it is you are implying. He's good but not that good. If titles were truly won with sheer skills Randy Savage and a few others would definitely have more than Triple H.

    I used to watch WWE religiously as a kid with my brothers it's really shocking now that I'm an adult to see behind the curtain and see what a shady political business it is. I liked HHH but as a wrestler he wasn't the best in the company by far, he was bland and only had two things going for him, the pedigree and the sledgehammer. I remember him ending hbk's first world title reign like a month after he won it. Same with Orton and Goldberg and it's like ok...I thought for sure booker t was going to beat him at mania but that didn't happen either after awhile you gotta stop being selfish and start giving rather than taking. Now that he's getting ready to run the business I hope he puts talented guys in positions to succeed and not just who he likes but with the slow disastrous rise of Roman Reigns idk

    • @micomedia7666
      @micomedia7666 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea, at first i seen potential in Roman Reigns as far as his gimmick and moves, but the more i see him the sloppier he looks. I think some of these ppl making negative comments about HHH are underestimating him a little bit. HHH does at least have qualities of a main event level superstar. I mean, c'mon, he has a look, physique, he has humor, a strong gimmick, a style that very well fits him in the ring that anyone could consider to be money, etc. It's not like he's Rikishi, a fat slob that did little other than shake his fat ass in your face like a faggot.

    • @ericfrost7517
      @ericfrost7517 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No need for the homophobic slurs my friend but yes I like HHH as a talent to but his matches are all kind of the same and he didn't really do anything in the ring that was memorable as far as moves and moments. He also defeated far more talented wrestlers as well so that feeds into the game hate.

    • @micomedia7666
      @micomedia7666 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eric Frost I'm not being homophobic. I'm just saying that HHH has more talent than THAT👆at least and he's not as overrated as you think. And it's not about talent, it's about entertainment. That's the problem with wwe now. All we mostly have is a bunch of talented wrestlers with no personality whatsoever. Then you wonder why no one new ever wins the wwe title.smh

    • @ericfrost7517
      @ericfrost7517 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And John cena has personality?
      Orton?
      By that design Santino should be a 20 time world champ.
      If they put the guys with talent in the spotlight then we will see what kind of personality they have. Crawl before you walk theory here.
      The made Khali the world heavyweight champ for Buddhas sake

    • @micomedia7666
      @micomedia7666 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Frost ok, I'll admit....Vince McMahon is a terrible idealist, but Cena once did have persona. The creative team has been trying to turn Cena heel forever but he doesn't want to bc he's mr. MakeAWish who's too emotional about suffering kids (as if being a heel would make him a bad person in real life, smfh). Orton has a great gimmick, gets over with the fans like hell and a anomaly in the ring. Wtf? You think Orton should act like Jim Carey or somethin'? Santino wouldn't even look good in the main event so he's irrelevant. The only reason The Great Boring won the world title was to make him look dominant as a giant so of course, he would be champion. (for like a second). And if anyone is underrated, it's Bray Wyatt.

    HHH was a great worker but had no business being a main event superstar or WWF Heavyweight champion. He was no where near the level of guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock. The last truly great year for the WWF was 1997 anyway. Once the 'Attitude' era really came into effect in 1998 the 'entertainment' aspect in the WWF really became the main focus and kayfabe/match quality took a backseat.

Even if HHH was that hellbent to write himself to win there is no way that he would have had the power to do it over the span of 14 world titles.
