Chris Behn I agree. Show was capable of very very good performances for a giant back when this interview would have been filmed in 2002-2003. It was only from 2004-2005 onwards that he started to gain stupid amounts of weight and his capabilities went out of the window. He still makes Khali look like a rookie though.
No bro he got protected by the wwe legends in wcw at the time that why his matches looked good i don't have anything against big show hes a great wrestler... He even admitted that on his own documentary
Didn't matter, he still became a comedy act and losing to guys he probably shouldn't have lost to. Probably Vince's way of trying to put him in his place.
@@sarahfortune7760 Undertaker joined WWF way earlier. Big Show joined in 1999, closer to the end of the ratings war with WCW. If they had acquired Big Show in 1995 as planned, he would've been protected as a talent way more. WCW having Big Show for around 5 years definitely contributed to how little Vince McMahon cared about protecting his character and booking him well once he finally got him. Vince cared about money and fighting enemies more than he ever did about creating good characters and solid wrestlers.
@@Snarka09 Vince does indeed care about money but I disagree with him not caring abt characters and wrestlers. Undertaker, Stone Cold, The Rock, Shawn Michaels. Great characters and wrestlers, Vince may be a terrible person but he's not a terrible showman and knows abt the Business more than anyone at that point in time.
And hes still a prick. Calling himself a legend sitting there with a beer belly this year. Taker has never said im a legend! Only wrestlers who think theyre better than they are and feel inferior to people around them will call themselves legends. Flair of course who is a mediocre talent no better than Jeff Jarrett at his best thinks hes the greatest wrestler to ever live
It's so weird seeing the Undertaker talking in a fluent manner when I grew up as a kid during the era of him never saying anything, just staring creepy as f*** from under his long hair and his hat. It's almost like Paul Bearer should be there talking for him still lol.
And now he’s too brain damaged (no disrespect intended) to speak fluently. You can just see how slow he is to remember things and he’s very choppy when he talks.

cant blame big show for not keeping up with a heated taker, not to many can, its stupid tho to tell the deadman ur gonna gas him when u physically cant lol
His weight and ability might have held him back but I also think the name and the theme song played a big role too. As a kid my friend would sing his theme song as the fat lady teacher we hated waddled down the school hallway and it fit so well. Paul Wight isn't a terrible ring name, pair that with a decent 1999-2000 nu metal, industrial whatever rock track and I would have taken him more seriously. I mean hindsight is 20/20 but walking out to "weeeeeeeeeell!" *BOM BOM* "it's the Big Show!" would probably do a number on the ego.
Big Show gets far too much criticism for what he has accomplished in the world of pro wrestling. People put Andre on this big pedestal as the legendary giant who was perfect and without any flaws. Give me a break. Big Show was much more athletically capable than Andre AND more importantly, could cut promos in understandable English. He has also had it much harder than Andre in that there are many more big guys around today who are skilled and wrestling isn't some freak show anymore where the world is in awe of some overgrown giant, no, it's a lot more physical now than it was back then and the fans are smarter about the business and harder to please as well. Give Big Show his dues!
Still not motivated after 20 years... Taker was right them, and still holds merit now.... I seen show and Ryback in a match at a live event and I swear to god Ryback had to carry him through half the match, if that isn't sad I don't know what is...... He's HUGE, he's an attraction, when he goes into the turnbuckle hard, the Ring literally moves across the floor. But how he's still with WWE with his performance and attitude let alone what hey pay him is beyond me... Vince has always had a Boner for Giants.
fakegibsonssuck And Ryback isn't exactly known for his motivation either. Probably why he is gone. I have no idea why they keep Big Show though. They haven't used him in at least a month.
Undertaker rules but he was kinda being a jerk to big show but then again big show was known back then for having this bad attitude and kinda bulling people back then
Just rewatching 1996 WCW, he was a little bit cringe then, but then again so was everyone. Was always kinda rooting for the guy, seems like being a big guy kinda sucks as you can't really get booked as a serious babyface but as a big monster for the hero to overcome.
He even admits he didn't realize how very little they actually taught him before he went to the WWF / E. Here he thought he thought he was a main event guy cuz he had been on top working with Hogan. He didn't even know what they meant when they told to "fire up" out there for Christ sakes
@@Roflcrabs they didn't want them to work too good they want him to be a big lumbering giant they didn't teach him fuck all in WCW except what he needed to know to make them look good
