Robinson fought and beat a lot of great fighters in his career. No other fighter beat so many tough, tough guys. Robinson's era had the greatest collection of fighters. It was tougher to be a world champion back then. There was only one championship in each division.
Actually, there's multiple world titles back then, too. NBA, NYSAC, IBU, and Maryland are some of them. But back then these boxing bodies prefer to award their world titles rather than contested it. Anyway, I do agree that Sugar Ray Robinson fought in an era full of great boxers. (If he has the most toughest competition is debatable) At only age 22, he already has beaten the likes of Sammy Anggott, Fritzie Zivic, Henry Armstrong, Marty Servo and Jake LaMotta. Imagine only 3 years in your professional career yet your resume is already a sure-fire Hall of Fame record. That's how good this guy is.
@@rickrick5041 It sure wasn't Ali and the 70ies. Ali is the most overrated low-power boxer that ever lived. All media hyped with a bigoted cult like following.
forty five And Was Competitive with the number one contender at middle weight... And had fifteen fights on one year.... And henceforth to today younger Boxers who put in the maximum Of maybe four fights of a year.
14 fights in his last pro year at 44 years old. That's amazing!
Sugar Ray's boxing record is incredible
It’s nice how they recognize all the former middleweight champions in that era and I love the respect the fighters have for each other
Lovely to see the other boxers paying Sugar respect like this.
SRR was 44.
the best to ever do it

@@raygan1221 You said "if he has the most toughest competition is debatable" so who had the toughest competition?
Dezi King As far as I know he fought whoever was the best including many black fighters.

My favorite fighter
Joey Archer was the no 1 contender. Some say Ray won this fight at 45 years of age
Some said the world was flat too
Some believe in global warming too?🤣
Fwl Web Most of it is flat
Gee Whizz It gets pretty warm in the summer throughout most of the globe. True or not?
Did you ever consider that people put this fight on to see the winner? You just spoiled that.
This man would of never had a chance on Robinson prime
Fantastic upload. Thank you very much.
Man sugar was wayyyyy past his prime in this fight Ik he was 44 but wow and the fact he was still very competitive is insane
Nah he's 45
It's not the age but mileage as cus has mentioned in the past

@@dontbeasucka.61 very true, my mistake on the age
@@rasulsamad5860 definitely both are factors, but mileage is probably a bit more telling
