We all have to salute Ringo for coming up with this idea, so we can see our favorite stars from yesterday! Edgar plays THREE instruments in this song!!!!! Go Edgar GO!
Sheila E visited the music school that I recently graduated from, and did a Q&A. I asked her what it was like to play, not only with Ringo, but with that band. She told us about when they were starting rehearsals, the music director told her they weren't doing the percussion section of "Frankenstein," but when she went home, she worked on it anyway. When they were rehearsing it and got there, she asked "wait, we're doing it?" and Edgar responded by saying "of course we're doing it."
Sheila E looked and sounded great with her matched grip, and Edgar can play anything and play it crazy well. Innovator extraordinaire. Ringo's band were always good. Saw a few in my time.
awesome..my grandson who's 4 years old and generally ignores what I listen on the tube stopped in his tracks when he heard this and started ''freaking out''....with joy, and watched the whole video....twice.....there's hope yet for the spirit of real music..
Wow, that song ain't lost one step. Hell, compared to today, it's gotten better. Other bands do Rock louder, but you can't get no better than this. What a classic.
@@martinkavick4045 You're obviously not a drummer or you'd of recognized she was playing behind and screwing up and she tried throwing in some fast drum rolls where they didn't belong!!
Saw Edgar do this song Way back in the early 70's with his late Great brother Johnny Winter in Providence Rhode Island great show! What talent they had RIP J.D.W.
I never knew Edgar Winter until I saw this video. Truly jaw dropping. I knew he was Johnny's bro but I never realized that he was such an amazing multi-intrumentalist and composer. The female drummer, Sheila E was amazing as well.
Edgar played the sax on Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman's' "Bat out of Hell" album. Jim told of Edgar coming in and with no warm up or anything nailed it in one take. "All revved up and no place to go" still is one of my favorite songs off that record.
EDGAR WINTER. ..WITH RINGO. ALL STARS...AND SHEILA E.....PERFORMANCE. FRANKENSTEIN. .. THIS IS WHAT I SAW...GREAT CONCERT... GREAT SYNTHESIZER. .WONDERFUL. ..FUN.
Ringo Starr with Edgar winter and ringo all stars in concert i went to this concert is amazing ringo performing with friends and ringo is amazing show with his song the photograph unforgettable simple unforgettable ringo incredible still is beatle the best is until today I love it
@@danielkokal8819 You can tell she's just fucking amazing. That girl can play anything. I watched a video with her doing a drum solo with kicking double bass into this funk mash up. Tommy Aldridge would have been humbled.
Thank You, Ringo for including Sheila E. I would have never otherwise known how talented she is. So glad you did what no one else had the decency to do.
You should consider learning more about Sheila E. She’s been hired by Marvin Gaye, George Duke, Lionel Ritchie, Diana Ross, Gloria Estefan, Phil Collins, Magic Johnson, Ringo Starr, Cyndi Lauper, Idol, John Rich, Dave Koz, Junkie XL, Hans Zimmer, and about a hundred other acts.
What a classic song from our lifetime....BUT what has always captivated my eyes like an angel to a Harp is Sheila..... When I met her at Namm few years ago it was.... hypnotic.....damm I may start to ovulate..... lol
As much as i wanna comment on the Talented & Gorgeous Sheila E. , i had no idea Edgar Winter could play so many instruments ... and well !!!! Wow !!! very cool ....
OMG - Sheila E & Edgar Winter...I honestly did not know...&as much as Edgar & Johnny have been some of my FAVORITE people - This may even top when I saw & met Edgar Winter Group, along with Johnny...This is mindBlowing!! Thank You!!🤩🥰💖
I'm so glad Ringo's sorry butt sit this one out. Sheila E nailed it. Good to see Hamish playing the bass for a change. And of course Edgar Winter, near genius level. And I say this about few musicians ever. He's a monster...
Absolutely brilliant. Sheila E is a damn good drummer. Absolutely loved this. This is music. Not like the crap we get today. Peter Carruthers. 07. 01. 2019. And I am over 66.
Edgar is really nerdy but that’s ok because he is super talented. Totally favorite song growing up in the 70s. I am amazed at the different directions Edgar and Johnny took. I was more of a Johnny fan as was into the blues but I see Edgar was so awesome and creative. Wish they had stayed together their whole careers and might have been the best super group ever.
I clicked on this video to see Ringo Starr and he appeared 9:00 minutes into the video for a second or two, but had I not clicked on to see Ringo, I would've missed out on this awesome music. I really enjoyed it the girl tore those drums up! Great and the guy with long hair how cool was he, so talented!
I've seen Ringo twice now, and once was this very show. Go see him with whatever band he has assembled. This is a formula you can't duplicate, putting together great sidemen/women who just F&@#ing rock!
Many guys were inspired to play keys by Emerson, but for me it was that 1973 recording and a live bootleg version that got tons of airplay on a Boston FM station in 73 that made me want to play keys. Played serious "air keyboards" to that one until I could learn to play it. Hats off to Edgar - the guy has still got it!
So hard to believe he and his brother are gone. They both left us with some of the best music that will ever be recorded. Much of Edgars stuff sounded like it was meant for the next century. And Sheila E, always loved her. Loved her on on percussion and voicr with Prince, loved her own stuff as well. She really nailed this number great and in her own way. On a side note, would've loved to have been her bass pedal that night. Did i just say that?
I saw Sheila E when she opened for Prince in 1985 in Dallas Texas at a place called Reunion Arena in downtown Dallas. She is a great percussionist!!!!!!!!!!!
Make no mistake whatsoever, as a drummer that is a difficult song to play!! There are so many components and changes and beat changes. And then the whole call and response with Edgar. She killed it in my opinion.
I have never seen Sheila E. play a full drum kit before! What a revelation...man, she is great! (Beautiful, too!).
check out Prince's 'Sign of the Times' concert.
She plays ok, but let face it, she looks like a guy in drag. .Just sayin"
Very underrated drummer
Talented and gorgeous
She’s average. Nothing more.
We all have to salute Ringo for coming up with this idea, so we can see our favorite stars from yesterday! Edgar plays THREE instruments in this song!!!!! Go Edgar GO!
Edgar should have played a plastic saxophone like Ornette Coleman (and gave us an extended avant grade solo like Coleman)
Look at the version in midnight special he does the exact same thing
@@billdang3953 Yes, it was made by Grafton. Charlie Parker made it well known.
I have got to see them the next time they come to Denver!
WOW!!!!! It's a crime we don't hear this on rock stations anymore. Edgar winter kicks ass. Sheila E did a great job.
I'm a music collector and I concider this peace the most classic pice of this gender which is jazz rock fusion
KQ92 in Minneapolis still plays it from time to time 😊

Sheila E's drumming kicked butt. She really did the song justice.
it may have been Ringo's show, but that's one hot Sheila E doin Frankenstein with Edgar.
Making love to Sheila would require a great deal of stamina. A GREAT deal.
Been listening to this tune live for 52 years now…and it sounds awesome every time…never gets old…peace & love y’all🎉
SHEILA E rocking FRANKENSTEIN!!! Edgar Winter is such a virtuoso musician!!! Thank you Edgar & Johnny for this iconic song!!!

Sheila can play anything from funk to jazz to rock and kick ass doing it all.
Sheila E inherited the crown from Tito Puente
I miss the 70's, I miss Johnny Winter.
Me too. Im hoping we get to live it over again our next li!
Classic and Edgar is jack of all trades.
Sheila E is one of the most accomplished drummers I've ever seen or heard. She can play any style.
And she's still hot.

Awesome drum off with Sheila and Edgar.....love Billy's guitar playing as well...
Kudos to Sheila Escovedo for playing her parts very much in the spirit of Chuck Ruff.

What a treat to hear Sheila E. play with Edgar and the boys!
every band with keyboards in it should be required to play this song...
one of the top 5 I learned to play. not easy as anyone knows, but fun when you nail it, Corbetta's "Green Eyed Lady" is in my top too !
The first keytarist ever - before invention of the keytar. Edgar invented technique, playing synth keyboard strapped on his neck
He plays his ass off. Great to just watch how he works it.
There is a video of Kraftwerk from 1970 using a very similar instrument. 😐
