"Photograph" is a song written by Ringo Starr and George Harrison. It was released by Starr as a single on October 5, 1973, reaching number eight and number one in the UK and U.S. singles charts, respectively. It can also be heard on the Ringo album and several compilation and live albums.
On "Photograph", Starr is the lead vocalist and plays drums, and Harrison plays 12-string acoustic guitar and sings harmony vocals; Jim Keltner (drums), Klaus Voorman (bass), Nicky Hopkins (piano), Vini Poncia (acoustic guitar), Jimmy Calvert (acoustic guitar), Lon and Derrek Van Eaton (percussion), Bobby Keyes (tenor saxophone solo) are also featured. The orchestral arrangements are by Jack Nitzsche, and Richard Perry produced the recording.
A promotional film was shot for the "Photograph" single, showing Starr walking around his new house at the time, Tittenhurst Park, which had been previously the home of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The B-side of the "Photograph" single, "Down And Out", was written by Starr on his own.
The drummer is the legendary, amazing, awesome Sheila E.
I got to meet her when she visited the music school I eventually graduated from. She was scheduled to sit with one of the ensembles to give them tips, but everything she did was on the schedule. There was a conversation with a few people who were confused on if it was a performance or if she was sitting on a class. She then said "I have just been informed that this is not a performance, but a class" and then looked in their direction and winked.
The day before, she did a Q&A. I was the first person to ask her anything, and I started by saying that I could probably ask a thousand questions. I asked her what it was like to play, not only with Ringo, but with that line-up where she was also with Edgar Winter and Richard Marx, and of course, that line-up included her. She mentioned that she liked a lot of Richard Marx's songs and that Ringo had a lot of great stories about playing with the Beatles. After that, she told a story about when they were working on "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter.
There's the percussion section of that tune, but the music director told her that they'd be skipping it. She decided to practice it anyway, in addition to what she was already practicing. When they got to rehearsal, Edgar started playing the percussion section. She then said, "Wait, we're doing it?" Edgar Winter responded by saying "Of course we're doing it." I can't type out the facial expression the music director gave her when she looked at them, but it was a great story. Something that was thematic throughout the Q&A with all her stories was to be confident and prepared.
When she did a percussion clinic the following day, one of the women asked her about being a woman in a male-dominant industry, commenting that "I can probably count the number of women in here." Her big advice was to be confident and prepared.
She look so giddy and full of JOY! What an incredible kit! Just saw Ringo w/ guys from Toto, Men at Work, and Avg White Band last night! The closing numbers of WAHFMF and GPAC was like a time warp and the LOVE in the crowd was palpable! Felt George and John there for sure!! Blissful night.
Her vocals MAKE the chorus!
the drummer is one beautiful lady god bless her heart. i love this song thank you ringo.it brings back a lot of memories for me. thanks again
Shelia E
Legendary Sheila E
I love Ringo, love this song. Thank you. PS I want a female drummer in my band! ✌️❤️🇦🇺
Ringo, at 70, has the physique of a 20 year old! An inspiration for us all---you don't ever have to look "old" no matter how old ya are:)
Yep, that's what drugs and booze will do for ya .
Good genes
Yes! it is amazing how good looking he is in his older years.
@@chuggachuggawoowoo and the T SHIRTS pretty cool as well
I Love The Drummer ❤ Beautifull Lady doing a Great Job!!!!!!!!
Shelia E is smoking hot and hes still the most badass Beatle .
It's Sir Ringo.
I love this song... Also his clumsy dancing... Same moves in every live version of this song...
Yes you are right, but luckily Ringo is a drummer and not a dancer. Wonderful song :)
Ken NZ : Ringo is a great dancer.
Just a great, bittersweet song, really takes me back.
This drummer is the bomb !!! Way better than that Starkey guy who used to drum for him. Get after it , girl !
the coolest Beatle
Duane, I've always like Ringo a lot too. He seems like the most relatable Beatle.
Sheila E 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️RINGO ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I wonder if Ringo's wearing a Def Leppard shirt for "Photograph" because they have another song with that title.
Yea also the album there in the shirt is where the song from Def Leppard is from
Ringg will always be the best
Ringo passou na fonte da juventude 3 vezes hahahaha mito!!
I did not know Edgar Winter played Sax! LOL!
Grande historia del mundo rock por siempre felicidades
Ringo became a better drummer going on tour with Sheila E…my opinion ..been a Beatles fan my whole life.
Really wonderful seeing a female on Drums , I wish more would be in bands they really rock the drums and way to go Ringo
I was at that show...Great show,
Ringo....Great.....
Ringo was always the one in the Beatles with a camera, so he was a natural to write a song titled Photograph. George might have helped him out but they were together ever since the days where they perfected their marbles skills since the Beatles were Lennon and McCartney. This was just a great performance, but it has to be since Richard is the coolest Beatle and Sheila E. on drums for a Starkey song has no equal. Starr quality.
Good job Sheila E. Ringo!
Sheila E!
As a former rock drummer I have to say, I LOVE THAT DRUMMER!!!!! IS THAT EDGAR WINTER ON SAX?????
Wow the drummer..
Great song! I believe that this song is so true and beautiful.
Ringo turns in a solid lead vocal here.
who can resist singing along? Stayayay . . .
Edgar Winter on sax?
Yep
¿Edgar Winter?
LOL This sure isn't the version you described above this is a recent version of the All Star band with Edger Winter and Sheila E on drums (LOL Too Pretty to be Jim Keltner) someone made a BIG BOO BOO
Ringo is wearing running shoes!
So am I...always on the 🏃
Edgar ….that saxophone 🎷
Outstanding!!!! I so appreciate……. Thank You!!!!
The best of all time ⭐️
Fabulous!
When I clicked on this "Photograph" video I was thinking - are they really playing Def Leppard?? Didn't know/remember Ringo had a song named Photograph. But then, he is wearing a Def Leppard t-shirt!! My mind is blown.
Have a cat somewhere
Ringo knows what hes doing
It's really Richard Starkey, which is what the audience should have replied when he asked was his name was.
Pissing rain
IT'S HAMISH STUART ON BASS OH MY GOD
Fuuny he's wearing a Def Leppard t-shirt, who also had a song by the same name.
Think that they were having fun? Never miss Ringo's ASBs. Great night of great music by great musicians.
Just saw them last night in Council Bluffs, IA. Ringo almost 80 and still an incredible entertainer! He has SOOOOOOO much love in his little body! Like watching Frodo up there...he is so f'n COOL!!! Peace and Love to ALL!
