    As DIY-selfer, I don't encounter hard-to-remove filters like a pro does, so I don't really NEED this.... but I WANT this! That is a really great tool.

    I've never seen one of those, that's super cool. I'm still a big fan of filter straps. I have this really cool textured rubber one that doesn't slip even on an oil soaked filter. It feels almost like cow tongue. You could probably sharpen a knife on it. The harder you twist, the firmer it grips the filter. And it works in super tight areas.

      Yeah but your oil filter strap ain't going to come anywhere close to this I can tell you that right now if I'm lying I'm dying I don't want people to fight me on this I want them to try it before they actually start to talk up what they think they have as better
      this is going to be better I can guarantee you that
      This is in a completely different League of its own

      Messing with diesels it's good to have one too,if you're dealing with spin on fuel filters and priming and whatnot.

    That tool looks awesome. I order a special K&N filter with a nut built in for my 1.5 eco . Absolutely no room to get your hands in there. This could solve that problem.

    I saw a video on TH-cam about these filter wrenches awhile ago. They look like a nice product. I believe they are powder coated and they come in a variety of colors. I think the person who invented them started out manufacturing them in his home garage. Ingenious design.

    Looks good, the pliers wrench sometimes doesn't fit in tight spaces. I was always worried I would squeeze the handle too much and put a small hole in the filter. Same thing with the band wrench, no room to swing it.

    I saw a little tiny one on the bench as well. Is that one for the cartridge style filters that have the plastic cap you remove to access it?

    I have an old steel one with three arms welded to their own gear and a central gear with 3/8 drive. It can remove the toughest filter and will even begin crushing the filter body the more it resists

    Thanks Rich! Time to upgrade from a cheap filter wrench. As per your posts I’m using OEM filter now, FL400s (2.9” dia) on Right hand drive Mk1 focus’ so I think I need the large size in these tools. Ford parts giant notes that the filter is not for svt engine but it matches their parts check. Can’t see any other type so I think it’s an error. Mal from TTok

    I use course 1 inch wide emery cloth wrapped around the filter and a good strong grip. Has never failed. On my own vehicles I lube the gasketbwith Sil Gilde silicone lube. Filters come off without a wrench 90 percent of the time

      Yeah but when you can't get in tight spots to do all that it's almost impossible and on top of that you're just doing more work that's unnecessary just buy the tool have it in your toolbox when you need it it's there then you don't have to do all the extra stuff and then tell people stories about how you do this and that there's a tool that's made for that makes your life that much easier use it plain and simple

    I just ordered Amsoil SS for my 3.7 F-150. Gonna see how it runs with it. The Pennzoil Platinum with the Motorcraft filter has been working great but I’m curious to see if there’s any difference.

      Hard to beat the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum! I have tried Amsoil, Schaeffer and Redline and many others over the years and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum tops them all at a fraction of the cost! I do oil analysis every oil change so I have real world results.😎

    Hey Rich. Can you clarify how much oil the 1.5l engine in a 2019 Escape takes? There’s conflicting information between 4.3-5 qts. Figured you’d be able to settle this debate.

      No that is not true it will not always work I've had them rip in half literally because of how they were installed the last time so that statement is incorrect and you can't get a screwdriver in the locations you can get this tool so I'm sorry to tell you your statement is biased and it's not even a good biased statement

    OEMs should just put a 3/8 socket into their filters so you can use a ratchet. Can't remember the company that put a male square on theirs, you could just use a wrench.

    I don't like it I've done hundreds of oil changes and most of the time that tool wouldn't fit into tight places....It's a pass for me I'll stay with the variety of filter wrenchs I have already.

      Nine times out of 10 you are not using it right I can guarantee that that's what I see most people doing they do not use the tool correctly and then they complain about it because of their own lack thereof

      Sometimes that works sometimes that doesn't but you are right that's why I follow the tightening procedure by the filter but a lot of times you don't get that and you have to use special tools to get it off

      @@FordBossMe you know it as well as i do, every round can filter goes hand tight, it's been good that way for decades and it'll never be otherwise, unless some knucklehead goes messing things up. That's the whole reason for the tool, to fix someone else's mistake
