Cons: 1. For Unread Messages: Both the sender's name and the message content are displayed with the same boldness and font size (Same intensity) which makes it difficult to distinguish between them. 2. Font Customization: The app does not adopt the phone's custom font , even if a custom font is applied to the entire phone, Most of google apps runs over single font such as Gmails & drives

Google removed categorisation which is part of Message organisation. It worked really well, I don't know on what reasons they removed it. That's a really helpful feature.
I hate how they removed the Google photos option for sharing videos through text. There used to be a way to send a video as a Google photos link right in a text message but that option is gone now. If I try to share a vid, it says it’s too large to send and asks me to trim it. Seems like now I have to open up Google photos, find the video, click share and create the link THEN send that link to someone which makes no sense to me when this was once integrated into the actual messaging app instead of the convoluted way to do it now.

When I try playing a video in messages, it keeps opening a full screen version instead of normally just playing the video as is, how do I fix that? It gets annoying after awhile, deleting and resetting all settings in the app fixed it temporarily and then it started doing it again

Actually u can assign different ringtones to certain contacts via text message bc I have that set up on my phone. It's definitely confusing at first but u can do it

I was thinking u meant just having a song set for text messages.. so I went back and I tried to set a certain song for my back # and I was able to do it. First I went to my messages and clicked on my conversation. Then I clicked on the 3 dots then clicked on details. Then clicked on notifications and then sound. U should then see the song ringtone u want to use. If u have a 2nd # then I would suggest tying it out with that number but if not then have that person send a message to see if the song will play. If not then u have to do it again to make sure the change was set. Let me know if it worked.
@@aniajones607 With Messages+ Besides Settings, there is also an option; Customize, inside different options and one of them being "New message notifications" just for all of the messages. This way you don't have to assign each one individually to each person. It's really a great App, but unfortunately in November it's being replace by Google messages. Thank you for your help.
There's something wrong with sending voice memos with google messages. And sending short 1 min films takes forever before sending.. I hope that improves
Last time I checked Messages the app lacked a key feature - delayed sending. I'm not writing about scheduled sending. Delayed sending lets you set a delay between taping "Send" and actually sending the message. This way you can re-read your text and abort to change or discard it before it actually gets sent. That's why I still use Textra.
Did not know that I could pair Messages with my desktop, or about voice memo messages, CHATTING WITH GEMINI, and some other things lol this video was extremely useful thank you!! Why won't Google let you get individual replies in MMS group messages like Samsung Messages? I don't like to see everyone's replies to a Picture, Giff, or screenshot that I send to a group. I want individual replies. Does anyone know if they will implement this feature? I can send regular texts with SMS and get individual replies only. That's why I still use Samsung Messages.
My job sends out iPhone group chats 100-200 at a time during campus emergencies. Wish there was a way to allow auto download for those messages but not all those outside of group chat
I love the direction of Google and it's messaging app it's really come a long way I used to be a iPhone only guy but eventually tried androids again 3 years ago and never looked back I do miss the in text app text games but aside from that Google messages is good enough

Plus with Samsung messages you can use a theme with it. You can't get that with Google messages. On top of that you can change your font along with Samsung messages but you cannot do that in google messages

I like to tidy up my messages by deleting those that don't need keeping eg texting the wife to pick up bread. Unfortunately, this just leaves rows of lines saying "RCS chat with Lesley" and "Texting with Lesley (SMS/MMS)". Is there any way to remove these to keep things even tidier? If so, it might be a good idea for another video.
I see you also missing a few features. Like example the magic compose. There’s two part you only have one. I don’t understand why Google does that. Why they don’t let everybody’s have the same features.
Link previews are convenient, but also an attack vector as it is downloading parts of the website on your device. A malicious actor just has to send you a link where the payload is in the preview and Google Messages automatically downloads it.. can it be turned off?

Most likely the iPhone user hasn’t upgraded to IOS 18 yet. Once upgraded they should be able to enable RCS in their settings if it didn’t activate on its own after the update.
Does Google messages have a repeat alert for texts that are not answered or opened, like every 5 minutes the text alert goes off until text opened? It's available on quite a few other text programs, but I don't see the option in Google messages or am I missing it ?
When I have my sim on an iPhone, I get a lot of spam messages and calls. However, I don't get any of that on the Galaxy S24U. That's why I stick with Android. Those calls are so annoying.

A while ago they added the " quick response " where you double tap the message and it sends a designated emoji. Do you have any idea how to change which one gets sent? A family member had the S22 and when he double tapped he'd send a thumbs up. I have an S23 ultra and my double tap sends a heart ( not something i necessarily want to be sending to just anyone ). Now my family member upgraded to the S24 ultra and now he sends the heart too with the double tap. Please help me figure out how to change/set which emoji gets sent with the double tap.

They killed my favorite feature which was to snooze a message/reminder. Basically allowing you to set a notification for a message for a later time or date. I used it all the time 😔
All I wanted was the ability to reply to individual tests in a group chat. You cannot do this unless you and others have rcs. I also wish I could sort my messages like emails, through most recent or alphabetically or however I want. And the pinned conversations keep changing position based on how recently you text, plus they remain apart of the string of unpinned text convos which is just visually confusing. It keeps asking for Gemini to assist me. I don't want ai assistance. The smart replies and sending photos and gifs are fine but adding all these bells and whistles when I really just want to text is stupid and annoying. They keep trying to be messenger or community apps when I just want to text

Samsung just announced a few days ago that they will start using Google Messages and will no longer provide Samsung Messages to their new phones.

On Samsung phones you can snooze the message notification (which does what you are describing)

The option to long press a message and set or schedule a reminder has been gone for me for a long time. I miss it, as u used it often.

They killed my favorite feature which was to snooze a message/reminder. Basically allowing you to set a notification for a message for a later time or date. I used it all the time 😔

All I wanted was the ability to reply to individual tests in a group chat. You cannot do this unless you and others have rcs. I also wish I could sort my messages like emails, through most recent or alphabetically or however I want. And the pinned conversations keep changing position based on how recently you text, plus they remain apart of the string of unpinned text convos which is just visually confusing. It keeps asking for Gemini to assist me. I don't want ai assistance. The smart replies and sending photos and gifs are fine but adding all these bells and whistles when I really just want to text is stupid and annoying. They keep trying to be messenger or community apps when I just want to text
