    I just put front and rear flares on my '08 JK a couple weeks ago, and also chose the American Thunder exhaust and am installing it over the this Labor Day weekend. Can't wait to hear the sound upgrade! Thanks for showing how easy the install is without a hoist- that's what I was worried about. AWESOME VIDEO BUDDY!

    Says he's going to keep the build pretty "practical"... a few videos later tears off fenders, cuts body and shoves 37's on an unlifted jeep and goes off-roading haha! I can't blame you though I'm dealing with those same urges right now as I just bought my first Wrangler a few weeks ago. Sub'd.

      Same. Bought a 2dr JK three days ago and my Quardatech wish list is like 10k deep right now. Having to set up a Jeep savings because I can't just drop that much cash (especially after the 40k I just kissed goodbye when I bought my Jeep) - this guy sure makes me want to go for broke though, great friggin' series.

      You guys are so right, I purchased my 2014 JK the end of January and have already upgraded almost $3000 worth in “stuff” and still planning on Teraflex 2 1/2” lift with Fox shocks! Will it ever end? Getting my vehicle ready for my “first” the off-road experience, totally not me since I even dust off my ‘65 Mustang Fastback off after it sits in my shop just a few days..... a very anally clean car show fanatic!

    Thanks for the video! I just installed this same Flowmaster exhaust on my 2014 JKUR. It sounds amazing when you're accelerating, but its very quiet while cruising. Exactly what I was looking for!
    FYI to anyone that is looking to purchase this: I had to either cut a small rivet off of my "Y" pipe or saw off an inch of the tubing to fit this exhaust in the way it is supposed to be. Just do yourself a favor and have either a hacksaw or dremel with a metal cutting wheel handy.

    Great install video! I've approached my 2013 two-door manual Rubicon the same way. Part of the reason I was attracted to Jeep is because it still offers a manual. But, yeah, it was too quiet and I couldn't hear what the engine was doing. I am a sports car enthusiast but I also love off-road vehicles. Within a week of getting the Rubicon I installed an aFe 2.5 high-tuck system and an aFe Momentum intake (sorry Mangnaflow), and I also installed a Sprint Booster to change the throttle response. The Sprint Booster is an expensive little piece of plastic, but it radically improves the Jeep's driving dynamics. My Rubicon has better throttle response than my souped-up Sprint Booster-equipped MINI Cooper. I keep the Jeep in Red "race mode" all the time as it's way more sporty; I can actually blip the throttle when downshifting, which seems crazy for a Jeep. It takes a few drives to re-learn the gas pedal, but going back to stock feels like driving through molasses. Highly recommended as you develop your project. All the best.

    Thanks for the tips and inspiration. I had been looking at a comparable Borla model for my tricked out 2013 Rubi and procrastinating. After seeing this, I got going and changed over to the Flowmaster featured in the video. Amazon had a good price with Prime and it arrived in 48 hours. Install took about 3 hours, all in all. The tough part was removal of the old exhaust. The WD40 tip for the rubber hangers was spot-on Thanks! I would also add to use a large pair of channelocks to easily pop off the lubricated hanger from the exhaust pipe without damage. Just set the jaw spacing so you can place one jaw on the outside center of the steel pin and the other on the inside rubber, against the side of the pin and gently squeeze. No need to buy the special tool. Similarly, loosen the existing exhaust clamps and then liberally spray WD40 or other penetrating lubricant into the slip joint of the exhaust pipes to loosen them up because they stick tight. After doing that, I was able to twist-rock the muffler loose relatively easily. Prior to lubrication, it wouldn’t budge. I used the same lube process for the front pipe and then “convinced” it loose with a hand sledge and a block of wood, tapping the resonator to drive the pipe off the collector pipe. Install of the new pipe couldn’t have been easier and only took about 30 minutes.

      You're not going to like this but it took me several minutes to adjust... tighten... wiggle like crazy listening for hitting and then untightening... adjusting... re-tighten... repeat. The tolerances are very close (a good thing) so just double check the routing.

    I have a question for anyone who has this same exhaust. I have the same rubicon Unlimited as Jason, and have purchased and installed the exact same exhaust. I'm completely stock, just as in this video. If anyone has this setup, my question is are any of you rubbing your exhaust on the rear sway bar? If so, could it be possible to shim the sway bar mounting location on the frame to achieve a greater distance between the exhaust pipe in the sway bar? Jason, I would be curious if you ran into this issue with yours. I understand by now your rear sway bar has been relocated a great distance and obviously not an issue now, but when you were stock.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a very close fit and took a few extra minutes with all of the clamps loose to get the orientation of the exhaust pipe just right but it does clear. A spacer would work as well since the lift kit I installed had a giant one to accommodate that and works fine.

    • @charleslawrence7187
      @charleslawrence7187 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you perhaps remove the stop behind the collector? Or did you leave that intact. The first pipe that you put on in relationship to the collector has a tab or a small titthat stops at first pipe from going forward any further. Just curious if you removed it?

    Greetings Jason... Just wanted to drop a quick note and provide some feedback on this video as I probably watched it 15+ times over the last 6 months. I really appreciate it!
    I received my kit just yesterday to install on my '08 JK. I know you made this look real easy and honestly it probably should have been, however that stock pipe on a 2008 JK was a pain in the butt to remove with rusted bolts and hangers that had never moved an inch. Also, to make it ever harder all original slip fits were tightened upside down (especially the first one) so I had to use a heck of a lot of PB blaster etc. to get that to loosen with no space to work etc. (The muffler for whatever reason what welded to the slip fit so I had to get the saw saw out to cut it apart.
    A quick note to older JKs, the first part of the new installation is a little off. The first hanger is for 07-11 JK and the second is for newer. (Not really 2 vs 4 door) Also, my stupid pipe had some sort of soldered round ring I had to cut of with a saw before anything slipped on there. Also, the stupid slip fits in my package were so tight that I had to completely open every one of them (everything going everywhere) then tighten them back together with tools to get them on the pipe. Yours were just rolling around around the pipes.
    Finally, the last part of the exhaust pretty much rests on the rear sway bar. There is absolutely no space whatsoever. I bought a set of the Synergy rear sway bar relocation brackets to fix it all. Thanks again for putting this one back up as I think the included instructions sucked and I couldn't have done this without you!

    I'm kinda surprised by how quiet that JK was with the stock exhaust on it. I daily a Chrysler 200 with a 3.6l and even though the exhaust is 100% factory with a resinator and suitcase type muffler in similar locations (only centered since it's fwd), it has a slight snarl when started and driven.
    Good choice on the Flowmaster too, I really like how your JK sounds and have heard both generations of 200s running single, rear mounted Super 10's and love the sound.

    Just literally finished installing this on my 2013 JKU, i ended up trimming 2 inches off the first pipe coming off the Y pipe. I counldnt get the tip on otherwise. I think it maybe because of my lift, 2.5 TF suspension lift. Anyway it fits perfect and sounds great. The hardest part was the factory clamp near the Y pipe and then disconnecting pipe from the Y. Removing from the hangers was not much fun either. Get yourself a bottle of WD40 or something for sure!!!

    just had this installed on my 2015 2-door Wrangler.
    MAN THIS THING IS LOUD! I don't know is it because the car was so quiet before and all you heard was the wind noise, but now it feels so loud I have to watch my throttle around the neighborhoods. I expected this to kinda be half way loud between the stock and current level.
    It sounds SWEET however, very rumbly, lots of pops and gurgles on engine braking mode. Sounds very good on a manual transmission JK. I was actually following a SRT grand cherokee and couldn't tell which car sounded better. It's a weird feeling driving the same Jeep but it sounds like a freaking race car

      So after having this exhaust for a month -Do you still like it? Any buyers/install regrets?
      I have a 2016 JKUR and have done a ton of mods - recently removed my exhaust spacers and installed a Adams Driveshaft because I was prepping to get this exhaust ( spacers will cause you to have to cut more of the exhaust in order to install - anyway Im still on the fence with this purchase - little more sound would be good but dont want to add more sound so as not to have a conversation without yelling.
      Any input?

    • @AutoEdits

    I've watched all the videos up to the six pack shocks you put on this jeep. What would you estimate you have put into this jeep since you bought it ?
    If you can , give a break down of self installed price and estimated installed of everything you have done including the 37" tires.
    I like the build of this jeep and I'm considering a new 2017 Rubicon.
    The other thing that came to mind is , since you had beefed up tie rod ends and entire suspension and put up the Rubicon suspension for sale. Would you go back and buy a cheaper model jeep since you upgraded the already beefed up Rubicon suspension ???
    I spoke to a complete jeep remodeling garage , and they advised buying a jeep wrangler or sport and building it up , as opposed to buying a Rubicon and then building it up since suspension is going to be changed. Thanks , hope you can shed some light on my concerns and choices.

    Mine was so much harder to install. I think its because my rock krawler lift moved that rear sway bar back an inch so i had to remove it and connect tail pipe and then bolt sway bar back to the frame. Its also a very tight fit and evena fter adjusting 12 times it still touches some of the parts of the underside of the jeep. The hangers dont line up perfectly even when the pieces are adjusted and double checked they are all the way into the slip fit connections. My Ace pro series steel rear bumper has the tip resting against it rattling so i may cut the tip or bend it a little or grind a notch in the bumper. The sound is great and worth it once installed. I think i forgot and threw out the hanger pieces that go on the end of the posts after install. I can probably order some but dont think they will come off as the exhaust is pretty tight in there.

After grinding the tab off, it fits better, but the stock band clamps do not hold well enough even with a light impact gun action, since i wanted to replace them, i went even closer to breaking point, clamps still lacked the holing strength and pipes still rotated. I ended up busting them with impact trying to get tight enough to hold. Changed to u-bolt clamps, its solid now and does not move. It still leaks out of slip fits as it did with the band clamps and hisses on cold starts. I may have a shop weld it now that the fit is perfect. I wish it was a hair less honda civic fart can sounding. Once the tab is ground off (allow front to slide on an inch further) for a good fit, i think it is the best fitting exhaust and best exit, but the clamps and sound leave me wondering.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't wd40 petroleum based so it will degrade rubber...meaning it wouldn't be the best for rubber hangers (although it's probably not going to be catastrophic) I think silicon oil would probably be a safer idea.

    I have always been leery about putting exhaust on a V6 because they sometimes get really tinny and raspy. I think that is a horrible sound. This 3.6L actually sounds pretty good. I have a 2016 Sahara Unlimited that I think I need to get a new exhaust for!!

    okay first off nice video but I gotta tell you something from the two door to the four door to the two door big change you gotta cut the exhaust to get anything to fit up secondly isn't there a guide pin on off the y pipe that you have to cut off so everything fits up???. it does sound great but a pain in the ass for me was that stock guide pin off the y pipe that you have to cut off. it
    cost me some stitches watch my video

    How is the interior resonance / drone? Any problems at highway speeds? I really like the design of this exhaust and it sounds great. I'm just hesitant to pull the trigger on it yet due to worry over drone and overall interior noise level.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Steven McNair There is ZERO drone on the freeway! I can chat on the phone or talk with passengers no problem, it's only loud under acceleration...when I really wanted it to be. So far I have been completely happy with this system.

  • @cambec

    Hi, I just installed a the same muffler setup you did. The last section of exhaust pipe is sitting on the swaybar and rattles. Did this happen with yours? I have a stock swaybar setup, so not sure how Flowmaster claims this fits my JK. If it did happen to you, how did you eliminate the metal/metal touching and rattling?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, it's a simple adjustment. In this video I had the stock sway bar as well and made sure to mention to take your time and start from front and adjust and tighten your way to the back. It's a very close fit but with some patience, you'll get it. I'm still running it after all these years and am still very happy with it!

    Great vid... great sound! The only question I have is this... does the exhaust get “raspy” or “coffee can import” like at higher rpm? I just had replace my entire exhaust on my JKU due to cracked manifolds. I picked up a set of long tube headers and y pipe, and running a Gibson dual exit axleback that sounds great if I keep the rpm under 2500... it get very raspy and annoying above that and I am looking to do this set up on mine.

    About a year in myself now with this system and it has developed a rattle... somewhere. Been looking everywhere but I can’t find it. Yours still rattle free?
    Rattles towards the front at very low speeds and disappears after 10mph. I usually hear it when I slowly back out or in enclosed areas like a drive thru etc.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be better to see mechanical exhaust cutout installed BEFORE catalysts in order to get super cool loud straight exhaust.
    Other than that I cannot see any advantages against OEM. Maybe only that you change it on perfect stainless steal material.

    Can I get your advice? Ever since watching this video I've really wondered if I should upgrade to this exact system. I LOVE how the relocation gets this up out of the way of rocks, but is there a performance improvement over stock? I don't just want a noisemaker, I'd like a system that also improves MPG and power (if possible)
