You can cover them with some thin foam. I used aluminum tape over that area. I forgot to mention it. Sorry about that. I used foam in the old tutorial I mentioned and linked in this video. You can see it here. th-cam.com/video/wuim_lLFnZs/w-d-xo.html
@@Heroesworkshop no it’s all good, I just wasn’t sure if you had covered them. I did an evil rocketeer helmet and I used some black felt fabric to cover it. Probably would have been easier to use foam lol
@@Heroesworkshop I never got round to making a master chief but it's still on my to do list. I did make the white ranger helmet, Darf Vader and a classic bsg cylon but other commitments (kids) ment I couldn't get round to finishing them
Thanks April. I was actually tempted to make this a Punisher War Machine but I wanted to keep this video with its old school theme. I suggest using the Mark II/Iron Patriot War Machine helmet for that look. It’s the one Hot Toys used for the figure. It has a better surface area on the faceplate for the skull design. 😎
Nostalgia... I remember watching your original video. You inspired me to make my own. I got very sick around that time and my body drastically changed due to getting well, so now the suit doesn't fit! I may make a new one. Thanks for the videos. Beautiful work.
I remember that I met the channel with the video of the war machine armor, it brings back many memories. It would be great to see a new war machine armor, it is also my favorite. Greetings Stefano
I really like your channel and I am learning a lot of tips and ideas to apply to my own builds. The main one that I need to get down is when cut a bevel when I am cutting out the pieces of foam. I know that you explained it quite well in the tutorial with the helmet. I just need to watch it a few more times. Anyway thanks so much for doing this channel!!
Was starting to get worried when I hadn't seen a video pop up yet. Over the moon with this weeks choice! My favourite too! Such a badass design 👌🏻😎 Can't believe you did you entire suit!! Gonna go watch that now, would be awesome if you did choose to make it again.....😊 Great work again man 👍🏻👏🏻😎
Ohh man did that intro bring me back!! Been subbed since the og War Machine build, jeez has it been that long already? Keep up the great work Stealth, I'll always tune in 🤘
Boy does this bring back memories!! I remember a long time ago watching all your tutorials and progress on your suits, you ever think of doing the war machine mk2/ iron patriot or for you the Canadian patriot helmet it would be awesome if you ever did. Keep up the good work though I can see big things for you in the future!!
Stealth been following you since your Iron Patriot build. I followed those videos to create my first IP suit. Working on the WM mark 1 now. Love these videos!
I prepared a pepakura file myself i am glad it looks similar to yours. Helmet didnt quite come out right. But happens. I need alot more sanding since my foam kept cutting roughly
The eyes are the same as lightsabers, they're all white, what gives them the color is the glow they emit :D Great job on this one, man! Keep up the good work
Thanks. Just from seeing the helmet. The new suit would be 100x better. I’d even make the helmet again slightly bigger so that it could fit a motorized faceplate.I’d probably have to resin the inside to keep it rigid enough for it to work but I want the entire base suit to be foam this time.
Incredible work as always. I'd love to know what head width you used in Pepakura, since we have the same size head but after watching your Pep. tutorial again and again and several tries scaling this helmet, many paer models and much wasted foam I can't seem to get the size right for this particular build.
Stealth, template has some additional parts that are not needed and it misses only the inside of "ear" . With all respect! Thanks for making this for us!
Stealth thanks for another great helmet. We all see the 17 minute tutorial but, how long do you actually work on the build itself? I'm amazed you can crank out a build video every week! Hats off to you dude!
I work on and off during the week. Sometimes I’m preparing templates for the coming weeks or modifying models. Sometimes my mental health declines and it’s difficult to work on things but on a good week, when I’m actually working on the thing itself with no outside issues, I can finish a build in 2 days because I let the contact cement and sealant fully dry overnight before painting. For the Cap shield, that was a one day build as I completely ran out of time that week and I really wanted to finish it.
Thank you so very much, I've been try to find a "War Machine" build for years. Please make a tutorial for the suit...even if there a compensation for the templates. I can express hoe happy I am to be that much closer to cosplaying him. Thanks again.
This was actually quite enlightening to see, i recall being drawn into this with your original video series, which had the War-Machine at that time. I have been procrastinating my own project for far too long. Currently I'm working on a unrelated project. As I'm nearing completion of that one, i hope that this rejuvenation will inspire me to move forward. Again i have questions. What are the dimensions of your cutting mat? I've been using a glass sheet. Your aluminum ball is made of foil? Have you considered preheating the ball prior to forming the foam? I've lost my pepakura program on my computer as it had died. I don't have the recovery key, so anything i do will be freehand. Are there pieces that you yourself has done freehand, with satisfying results. I'm considering a freehanded foam mock-up helmet, a precursor to aluminum, which i eventually would like to do. I'm probably going to be picking your brain on this one. Lastly i really loved this video and thank you for the inspiration...
I just use normal acrylic paint. I mix my own colors. For that gunmetal, I use a silver metallic acrylic base and just darken it with Mars black little at a time to get the desired color. I use water to thin it. Works fine.
Hi. Maria. It depends on the angle that the model shows when you look at it. The skill on how to bevel, when to bevel and what kind of bevel was taught in the Pepakura Foam building tutorial I mentioned at the end of this video. You apply those techniques to other Pepakura foam files and projects like this. You can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/vRrfclFDiS0/w-d-xo.html
I don’t do PDF’s. I mentioned what to do if you were new in the video intro. It’ll teach you how to use the Pepakura software and foam template file. A pdf will be useless without the software.
How do you keep the led’s from blinding you so you can see out the slits?
You can cover them with some thin foam. I used aluminum tape over that area. I forgot to mention it. Sorry about that. I used foam in the old tutorial I mentioned and linked in this video. You can see it here. th-cam.com/video/wuim_lLFnZs/w-d-xo.html

Fantastic! Brings back some awesome memories especially the intro! Got to do a shoulder mini gun!
Thanks Dave. Making this video brought nice hits of nostalgia for sure.
I can't believe that suit was built almost 10 years ago. I still remember those series of vlogs on that build when they were fresh out of the oven.

Is it okay to put kwik seal all over the EVA foam to smooth the surface? It's like when you're using a bondo filler

This is a dumb question but does a hot glue gun work well to make eva foam stick together? ._.
If that’s all you can use, it can work. Just have to have patience when you join pieces together.
Thank you for letting me know, I appreciate it!
I will try to build something using hot glue soon.

Can you use Plastidip for all projects or certain ones?
Yea. You can use it for foam. I just can’t because I can’t vent out the toxic fumes and also it’s super expensive in Canada.
