    Old stomping grounds. As a kid the Bronx was the best growing up. Didn’t know to much about the violence where I lived. The people on my street knew one another and were all friends that looked out for one another. Once people started to move away and other families started moving in. The neighborhood went down hill fast. Thank god I left when I was 14. I own a house off tremont now. My parents still live down there. My childhood home no longer stands as they knocked it down. My old neighborhood is unrecognizable. Sad

      In Germany he (and me) would get even more problems. For the Germans -- missing many aspects of freedom -- is „Datenschutz“ (data protection) a „heilige Kuh“ ("sacred cow"). The Germans "celebrate" their "right on the own picture". There is nothing else they risk to fight for (like actually the Frenchmen).
      So at present I'm developing methods of camouflage for getting movies in public environments. - Asked I may explain that I record pictures concerning town planning or interests in architecture/edifice. - However: In Germany it may be a high risk to shoot pictures outside of well known sightseeings.

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Thank you for your concern, there will always be people like this in the world. It’s not a crime to record or take pictures in a public space.

      @@ActionKid You are right, K., but in Germany (and also in parts of the EU) we have now a special situation, since Chancellor Merkel opened the borders in 2015 and millions of muslims invaded… - with them hundreds of thousands single males. Especially in the evening you are not safe in the streets. The worst danger threatens women if they walk alone in empty streets.
      Even at daylight and in full streets you may become a victim of robbery. Among the so called "refugees" are also well-trained fighters from the Near-East (Syria, Afghanistan) and Africa. They simply take what they miss or need - even in supermarkets like ALDI. The police often gives up. Too many cases and no chances to find the criminals.
      So you must be VERY watchful.

    My grandparents lived in a building on Tremont back in the early-mid-sixties. Kind of a hilly and quiet street as I recall. There were two lions on the street-front of the building and a rock wall across the street. But I can't remember the exact location as I was only six, seven, eight or nine then. We lived in Rutherford NJ and would visit, and we would walk to the Bronx Zoo.

    Burnside and Jerome Aves. at 2 AM during the 70's was Hooker City. Too many druggies were on Jerome back then. Things are more quiet now. 9/12/22.

    Don't know why you did this at dusk/night, making it harder to see the scenery. Amazing that you didn't get your camera stolen.
    Nevertheless, the area seems to be bustling with life, and a far cry from the Bronx of the 80s and 90s. The Burnside Ave. #4 station looks all spiffed up and impressive, and I am reminded of the landmarks from my days there: the Brighton Cafeteria at the base of the steps down from the station on the SE side of Jerome Ave., Wing Fong Chinese restaurant on the NW corner of Burnside & Jerome, Chemical Bank on the NE corner, the Garden Bakery and 9th Federal Savings on the south side of E Burnside and the Woolworth's on the north side, and of course, all the CCNY house plans and fraternities at 109 E Burnside. Still glad to be gone from there--no nostalgia here.

    I'll tell u a little story about myself, I grew up in the south Bronx Willis 138 st, lived there since 1year old, me and my parents moved out of there until I had a about 11 years old, came to reside in burnside and Jerome, we was there until about wen I turned 17 years old and my parents decided to move to university ave, that was the worst nightmare, I almost lost my life in that fucking place, I was a victim of a robbery, I tried my best to defend myself but was not successful, I wish I can see him again, if he still alive, bc when u do dirt in this life u will pay for it on the long run, and that's y a have my guns ready all the time!!!! I don't recommend anyone to live there, it's a dark place in my eyes!!!!

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on your definition of "bad". If you're concerned about safety, here's what Wikipedia has:
      "Tremont and Belmont are patrolled by the 48th Precinct of the NYPD, located at 450 Cross Bronx Expressway. The 48th Precinct ranked 56th safest out of 69 patrol areas for per-capita crime in 2010. With a non-fatal assault rate of 152 per 100,000 people, Tremont and Belmont's rate of violent crimes per capita is greater than that of the city as a whole. The incarceration rate of 1,015 per 100,000 people is higher than that of the city as a whole.The 48th Precinct has a lower crime rate than in the 1990s, with crimes across all categories having decreased by 71.7% between 1990 and 2018. The precinct saw 11 murders, 29 rapes, 276 robberies, 396 felony assaults, 182 burglaries, 424 grand larcenies, and 76 grand larcenies auto in 2018."
