    Excellent video! Like you, Spydercos weren't my first knife choice and hated the looks. But when I handled a PM 2 and Manix it felt good in the hands. Now I have at least 19 different Spyderco knives with about 8 Paramilitary 2 which will be passed down to the kids one day. Love Spyderco knives. Thanks for sharing brother, I subbed to your channel! 👍

      Sorry for the late response but I must agree they are like ugly dogs, they make up for looks with personality. Thank you for watching DN and a happy 2022.

    I said the same thing. I thought they were ugly. After use.. I appreciate the whole design of the pm2 and now I am on my 4th pm2. I have the black on black s30v the green g10 with 20cv the black g10 and satin s45vn and now the cruwear and micarda pm2. Also have the digital camo military and black blade in s30v. They really grow on you. My wife thought they were ugly too.. but now she has a vg10 dragonfly and a Para 3 with teal frn and an s90v blade. So we started out thinking they were ugly. Now we have an addiction.

    Yes you right some like them and some hate them, the biggest issue with Spyderco though is that they grow feet and walk away - my "native 5" lasted 1 year and walked away ( I know that it will never ever return) and like you say they cost too much to replace. So now I do without, I miss it terribly ,it just worked for me funny hole and all.

    I'm going to buy a PM2 this week. I've been undecided on this exact model in S45VN with DLC coating and the Cruwear one with micarta scales. I think I'm going to go for this one!

    Love this knife, blows every other knife I have out of the water for edc and cutting tasks. Comfortable, fidgety, and rock solid. I call it my scalpel cause it's always razor sharp. Prefer the shaman for harder use though, prying, scraping etc

    I feel the same about Spyderco's blade-to-handle ratios. The Caribbeans are OK as are a few others but most of the "good" ones have weird ratios. I am sort of liking the chinese made Resilience in S3VN though. I do have quite a few Spidies but, aside from one Caribbean most of mine are small o small-ish. I did just order a PM 2 in S45VN prompted the search that led me here.

    I’ve never owned a Spyderco but my apprentice carries a PM2. Problem is, he’s almost afraid to use it because it feels so delicate and he knows a couple of people who’ve snapped the tips off. I’ll need to try one out for a few months to try to debunk the idea that the blades are weak.

    • @frederikmare9002
      @frederikmare9002 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You will most definitely not break the blade if you use the knife for what it was intended!...

    • @STUFFWEDO
      @STUFFWEDO  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Bill, it has a thin tip but if you do not pry with it, it will serve you for many years. Apart from using it for hard tip use the thing is a tank. Thank you for watching.

    • @chimchu3232
      @chimchu3232 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was worried about that as well, but I'm pretty hard on my knives, and I've never broken the tip off. Just don't use it for prying anything more than a small staple. The spyderco shaman is beefier and has a stronger tip

    • @voidpunkprincess
      @voidpunkprincess 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love my para 2, but if I was concerned about its "delicate" tip, I'd go para 3, it's just a somewhat stockier blade with nearly everything else the same

  • @AGC828
    @AGC828 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    IF I get one....PM2...I'm hving the "hilt" on the blade removed. :) It's nearly a "perfect" folding knive had there NOT been that nub. which I feel is a roudimentary mistake in blade geometry/design--forces you not to use the area of the blade closest to the hlt and as you sharpen you emphasize that "90 degree shape "..you get an unevenly sharpened cutting edge....
    Luckily not all Spyderco knives have a "hilt on the blade" e.g. Yojimbo 2, Spyderchef.....
    I wonder why come companies put "hilts" on their blades. SOG did it on one of their folders which I bought years ago not knoiwng a thing about "blade geometry, function...."..does it make the blade easier to manufactur? As these are assemly line made blades of course...
    Will get either a PM2 or Manix 2 (Manix is $50.00 LESS in Canada)...
