This was my thought as well. Trayzn could probably keep a green barking toad in stasis, for tactical deployment. Imagine dropping one of those on a Tyranid army. Try adapting to that, losers! If he wasn't such a troll, Trayzn might be the greatest force for good in the universe.

some more stuff about Catachan Jungle fighters: -Many squads comprise of family members in them due to recruiting in many tribes and villages. -Disdain for medals and accolades. -Use tattoos to denote battle honours, years of service, rank, position or specialty. -Bandana represents "Blood Oath" taken when joining. -Every Catachan is considered a "Veteran Guardsman" due to their upbringing. -Earning a "Catachan Name" as a right of passage that denotes their battle experience and/or some noteable quality.
It depends on who’s writing that week. Sometimes they are stronger than unarmored space marines, sometimes they aren’t. Sometimes they surpass space marines in power armor and sometimes they don’t. It also depends on the ogryn and the space marine. If we are talking about the Tyberos it’s not even a contest.
There is an fun Nork Deddog story where his CO orders him to retrieve a med kit from a damaged Chimera. Nork drags the entire Chimera back to the Officer, and when reprimanded with "I said the med kit!" Nork replies "Da med kit is in da transport Sir"

When the Tyranids get to Catachan there's about a 50% chance of them being eaten by the local wildlife. The other 50% would be the local wildlife petitioning to be allowed to join the hive mind. And then eating it from inside.
Well I can't tell you where its stated but there is a theory that catachans local wildlife is probably some early addition of Tyranids. The way alot of the more dangerous wildlife in most of the galaxy is thought to come from the Tyranids. So in theory this is already the case. Tho again I don't remind where I heard this from. It might just be a fan theory I got it confused with.
The thing about GW is that there is no consistency in scale. A regiment can be 500 dudes or 100k. A planet of 12 million with an effective negative population growth due to the mortality can put millions of fighting men into the field etc. Never take GWs numbers for anything other than whoever was writing a random piece of sidebar fluff in a rulebook 30+ years ago saying "that number sounds cool"
It's a common problem to most science fiction and fantasy though. Like Star Wars is a similarly large galaxy and the Clones at the start of the clone wars only number 200 000 with a million more nearing completion. 200 000 is lower then the amount of loses from 1 side in Verdun in WW1 and that fighting force is supposed to do battle across a galaxy? I feel like most writers tend not to have a good handle on the scale of conflict on a planetary level let alone a galactic one. Star Trek plays it safe and leaves it deliberately vague but Starfleet only appears to have like 1200 ships total during the Dominian War which seems very small. The battle of Wolf 359 only mustered a defense fleet of 40 ships for the Federation Capital.
@@AltoStratusX1 for starwars the amount of clones made is actually far more ambiguous, first it's reasonable to assume they were talking squads of clone troopers, and that number would likely just be the grunts, not including special forces, pilots and officers, which is not a small number of clones, do realistically with the 9 man squad size it could have been upwards to 1.8 million with 9 million more grunts nearly completed, which while still small for a galactic war, the clones aren't the only fighting forces in the war, many armies and groups were volunteers, and militas, and even droids, the clones just get the most focus

The souls and minds of the Catachans they ate are now in control. The Kroots' own souls and minds haven't trapped the Catachans' in their bodies. They are locked in there with the Catachans'. Basically, now, the Kroots' bodies became organic mechas, and the Catachans' souls and minds are the captains. And the Kroots' are merely lieutenants, seconds-in-command.

To be fair there were only like three soldiers with a pickup truck and limited ammo against an entire horde of those tasty demons. Also, I’m pretty sure they’re so fat that they’re able to just keep going after being shot multiple times.
@@zeche8477 This is what happened. It was three people in a pickup truck with two guns between them (plenty of ammo though). The problem is the birds weren't grouping up enough or staying in the effective range of the machineguns, so it was decided the effort wasn't really worth it. Final kill count: Australians ~300, Emus zero, we just gave up because it was taking too long and a waste of ammo. The whole emu war thing was a result of joking communications between the three soldiers and the local news.
I once asked if Catachans are favored recruits for space marines when they can't be recruited from their home planets. The reply was "Would be a waste of Catachans to make space marines out of them ".
yeah like making catachans a space marine only bump their combat prowes by like 150% at best while making normal human into a space marine bump the combat prowes by like 1000+% not to mentiom the rarity of catachans and the failure rate of making someone a space marine absolutely inefficient to do that
@@danang5 I don’t see why the resulting space marines would have to be the same result when the humans are so vastly different. A catachan should just result in a better space marine then a typical human recruit. Also the failure rate for space marines comes partly from the humans failure in various trials that a catachan warrior would be more likely to succeed at. Lastly a typical space marine will live hundreds of years and particularly good space marines will live up to and over 1000 years. If you made a catachan into a space marine then you have effectively multiplied their power not just in terms of the immediate future but by the 2-10 times as much by giving them more time.

When the Imperium has to deal with the really crazy guard armies like Krieg and Catachan they should either pick people from said planet to train as Commissars so they might work out better with their units or just slap a commissar hat on a senior officer leave them be and call it a day just so the Imperium can check the "got a commissar" box on their paperwork.
Catachan might benefit from having a in planet Comissar. Kreig though, really needs an outsider to rein in their tendencies, and keep them from charging towards their deaths.
The point of Commissars, similar to Chaplains with Marines, is to keep unit's loyalty to the Empire and nothing else. If the Commissar is from the same planet as the regiment, then it might create possibility of disloyalty out of loyalty to their home. So I'd assume they DON'T want Commisars that are Catchans with a badge. Plus Commisars are from Schola, so I'd imagine even a Catchan would be worn down by it or else they would not make it through.
They technically did. The first officer Nork ever served as a bodyguard as an old catachan colonel who was also made a commissar. The reason he didn't get killed by the other catachans was because he was a colonel long before he was a commissar, and even once made a commissar he completely disregarded the dumb hat and outfit and functions and just continued to be a colonel instead.
@@Blazo_Djurovic that depends on the planet, if you put anything but a cadian commissar on a cadian regiment they will see it as an offense to their honor and the honor of the regiment, this happens on the book cadian blood, and that commissar has a higher chance of well having an accident involving falling on his bayonet, while krieg needs outside commissar for containing their tendencies of just charging their enemies and to serve as a liaison to other guard regiments, catachans like catachan commissars because they tend to act like then and understand then, while the outsiders tend to have the same type of accidents that the non cadians ones. But the majority of worlds are fine with what ever commissar the munitorion sends.
As an example of a Commissar that was respect by them: Colonel Greiss. He is the one that gave Nork Deddog his hat. Greiss was also the mentor of Iron Hand Straken.
I never put it together but the Ogryn at 47:17 is a 40k version of Forrest Gump. The line about medals and liking the imperial guard is a play on the line from when he was in boot camp, and he even saved his commanding officer from danger, to have that commanding officer loose his legs.
I'm pretty sure I've read a lore blurp where there was an attempted invasion of Catachan by a Tyranid splinter fleet. It failed because Catachan destroyed every Nid that touched down on the surface. Not the Jungle Fighters the flora and fauna of the planet beat a Tyranid invasion.

Best boi Nork Deddog (Ded dog, not dedd og as Bricky says, the plebian) story that made me love the Guard way back when I was a wee teenager: The huge figure shambled toward the thin and tangled body of Colonel Greiss. Luckily, the ancient colonel had been thrown free of the carrier as it veered out of control. Now the Chimera perched up-ended in a drainage ditch, steam and smoke pouring from its crew compartment. The force of the explosion had pitched Greiss into a ditch on the other side of the track. As the massive Ogryn towered over the tiny body, he sensed that his master was badly hurt. He looked for a moment at the oddly twisted limbs and blood-soaked uniform and poked the old man a couple of times to make sure he wasn't fooling. Greiss moaned faintly. Nork felt a tide of misery well up inside his huge and faithful heart. Greiss was his friend. Greiss had been good to Nork and let him fight by his side. The Ogryn fumbled with his water bottle, breaking off the cap with clumsy hands as he gently proffered the bottle to the man's lips. Greiss murmured as the cool water splashed over his face. "Nork," he whispered. "Stop trying to drown me and fetch the medi-pack." " Yus, sarr!" shouted Nork, saluting instinctively with his left hand, then his right hand, then both hands together. Nork shuffled to his feet and loped back toward the carrier. He picked his way past the crumpled bodies of the crew and the HQ squad and noticed with only passing curiosity the pain in his own legs where numerous shrapnel hits had penetrated his thick hide. Without a second thought, he grabbed hold of the Chimera behind its rear track guards and heaved. The weighty vehicle shifted slightly. He heaved again. There was a creak of tortured metal as the carrier pivoted against the soft edge of the ditch and came to rest on its broad tracks. Colonel Greiss tried to flex his hands. Nothing. He tried to raise his head but as he did so his vision swirled and he lost consciousness. He came round moments later, or minutes, or was it hours, it was hard to tell. His ears were booming from the noise of the explosion. All he could hear was a sound like something large and heavy being slowly dragged over an unyielding surface. His sight seemed to be growing dim and shadowy. Then he realized Nork was standing over him and beside Nork was the wreckage of the Chimera. The Ogryn had dragged the armored carrier out of the ditch and 20 yards down the road. " I said fetch the medi-kit, not the carrier, Nork," whispered Greiss. He was regaining the feeling in his arms and legs and didn't like it much. " Da medi-kit is in da carrier, sarr," beamed the Ogryn. " Good thinking Nork," grunted the colonel through clenched teeth and mounting pain. "Now bring the medi-kit over here." " Yus, sarr!" came the loud and snappy response as Nork plunged into the Chimera, remembered he had forgotten to salute, came back, saluted twice for good measure, and busied himself searching for the vehicle's medical supply chest.

I’m kinda disappointed that they didn’t mention how sad the character of Sly Marbo is. He’s basically the Rambo of the Warhammer universe, along with all of his problems as well.
Don't forget Tallarn, where you're lucky if you see drinking water once a week, or Valhalla, where you're lucky if you don't die from exposure because you left a window open.
This is because the 40K universe runs on the (pretty fash) idea that hard times breed hard men. Rather than simply breaking people and leaving them traumatized and dead. (Heck, Sly Marbo's first mention in the books was describing how emotionally hollow and depleted he was). It's the same reason why Space Marines recruit heavily from death worlds, feral worlds, and even the violent underhives of hive worlds. Or why the Schola Progenium and Officio Assassinorum put their students/initiates through hellish training.
So I'm writing this down for future me to use as in a killteam campaign. Imagine an imperial assasin menaged to tranq a bomb toad for use in a glitterbomb style assasination attamt but he got distracted by some other ant or another and is otherwise engaged. Now it is your killteams task to retrieve the bombtoad and keep feeling al nice and fuzzy. However a local ork nob who's eyesight got detracted by the local spikey trees heard the bomb toad fall asleep and assumed it was his favorite squig and has sent a killteam of his own to retrieve it. just seems like such a good time, orks trying to "rescue" a bombtoad and humans trying to keep from exploding.

22:16 hi Bricky, I’m a very loyal fan of both your channel and this podcast. You introduced me to the 40K world and have started a model buying and painting addiction that I absolutely love. What I do not love is the fact that I am now aware of a being like this. Scorpions are, by far, my worst fear (mainly from trauma as a kid) and seeing this abomination has made me rethink my life. And me, being the dummy that I am, watching this right before I go to bed has enlightened me to the fact that I can no longer do that, in fear of a train sized, miliscorpion busting down my bedroom wall and killing me instantly. Thank you.
This has bugged me everytime I watch this video but Bricky, you forgot to mention how during the 3rd War for Armageddon, when Commisar Yarick sent a request to Coronel Iron Hand Straken to help them defend against the Orks, Coronel Straken took the invite and when they arrived in Armageddon, he sent Sly Marbo to defend an entire Factory Complex from Ork looters and to no one's surprise, Sly succeeded in his mission and throughout the course of the war, successfully defended thw complex to thw point where Orks think that the Complex was haunted.
Not sure who told you that first bit in quotes, because Goff Rockas, Ork Shoutas, Noise Marines, Jokaero and the Rite Of Percussive Maintenance are all waiting in the wings to take GW's lunch money.

Best imperial guard unit ever but it saddens me you didn’t say how nork also got a hat from a commissar who he saved during a heavy firefight. It is his favorite thing he was given
39:11 Yes Commander Greiss, the guy Nork protected, was technically a commissar. He’s the only Commissar that the Catachani haven’t killed or abandoned to their death. And on the topic of Greiss, that hat on Norks skull speaker was originally his, if I’m remembering that correctly. Nork took it as a keepsake of his old boss.
Fun story about Nork. One time during a battle in a place called Chabda against the orks, the imperial command bunker got overrun by the ork warboss and a ton of meganobz. All the guardsmen fled except Nork, who punched his away clean through all the meganobz until he reached the warboss, at which point he headbutted him so fucking hard the warboss went flying through one of the bunker's walls and fell into a river of acid. The remaining meganobz were so impressed and intimidated that they promptly fucked off from the command bunker.

The vein worm sound like a fictional representation of the very real ringworms basically if you walk around barefoot in the forest you can feel a little painful nip at your feet and that would be the one digging into your skin and they'll call ringworms because when they'll in your skin they tend to loop around making visible ring
Absolutely my favorite episode yet lol. I love the Catachan Jungle Fighters and based my airsoft tactics on the Catachan Devils, including traps, ambushes, and striking behind enemy lines. It's actually a lot of fun.

I love that Sly Marbo is a Rambo expy both in legendary badassery and in being completely maladjusted for life outside of combat. It’s a key part of the character that is too often forgotten

In "The Devil you Know", Cain and some Catachans fight against Nids and Dark Eldar together (along with Jurgen), but he wasn't there as commissar, just as a representative of Inquisitor Vale

One of my favourite moments with the Catachan jungle fighters is in the Ciaphas Cain Book death and glory Where two of them mange to hold open a bulkhead door (and also shout words of encouragement to Cain)
when considering the imperial census of catachan saying that there is only 12 million inhabitants. do bear in mind, the imperial scribes probably never went there to count. and any burocrat sent to actually count the people.... probably got eaten by the wildlife long before he finished counting. so my guess is that 12 million is all he had time to count before he was messily devoured by something and the last known number was was was forwarded to imperial census data after his death

I've been catching up on 40k stuff, and apparently in a White Dwarf magazine in a lore snippet it's heavily implied that the Silent King made the Tyranids while out of the galaxy as a big fuck you to living things. Adeptus Podcastus do in deep and made a cool theory on how it is not only plausible but how it worked.
I remember reading somewhere that Catachan Devils were related to Tyranids at some point. At this point in the lore, they're probably scarier than most Tyranids.

-Every Catachan is considered a "Veteran Guardsman" due to their upbringing.
-Earning a "Catachan Name" as a right of passage that denotes their battle experience and/or some noteable quality.

It depends on who’s writing that week. Sometimes they are stronger than unarmored space marines, sometimes they aren’t. Sometimes they surpass space marines in power armor and sometimes they don’t. It also depends on the ogryn and the space marine. If we are talking about the Tyberos it’s not even a contest.
All I know is I asked them to jump out the back of my apc at full speed to flank some chaos and only one took a wound.
I imagine that a hand to hand fight between an Ogryn and a space marine would be like the scene in Infinity War where Hulk fights Thanos.

There is an fun Nork Deddog story where his CO orders him to retrieve a med kit from a damaged Chimera. Nork drags the entire Chimera back to the Officer, and when reprimanded with "I said the med kit!" Nork replies "Da med kit is in da transport Sir"

Well I can't tell you where its stated but there is a theory that catachans local wildlife is probably some early addition of Tyranids. The way alot of the more dangerous wildlife in most of the galaxy is thought to come from the Tyranids. So in theory this is already the case. Tho again I don't remind where I heard this from. It might just be a fan theory I got it confused with.

The thing about GW is that there is no consistency in scale.
A regiment can be 500 dudes or 100k. A planet of 12 million with an effective negative population growth due to the mortality can put millions of fighting men into the field etc.
Never take GWs numbers for anything other than whoever was writing a random piece of sidebar fluff in a rulebook 30+ years ago saying "that number sounds cool"
It would make sence for a regiment to be 1,000 and any force larger is just more then one regiment combined into one formation
It's a common problem to most science fiction and fantasy though. Like Star Wars is a similarly large galaxy and the Clones at the start of the clone wars only number 200 000 with a million more nearing completion. 200 000 is lower then the amount of loses from 1 side in Verdun in WW1 and that fighting force is supposed to do battle across a galaxy? I feel like most writers tend not to have a good handle on the scale of conflict on a planetary level let alone a galactic one. Star Trek plays it safe and leaves it deliberately vague but Starfleet only appears to have like 1200 ships total during the Dominian War which seems very small. The battle of Wolf 359 only mustered a defense fleet of 40 ships for the Federation Capital.

@@AltoStratusX1 for starwars the amount of clones made is actually far more ambiguous, first it's reasonable to assume they were talking squads of clone troopers, and that number would likely just be the grunts, not including special forces, pilots and officers, which is not a small number of clones, do realistically with the 9 man squad size it could have been upwards to 1.8 million with 9 million more grunts nearly completed, which while still small for a galactic war, the clones aren't the only fighting forces in the war, many armies and groups were volunteers, and militas, and even droids, the clones just get the most focus

To be fair there were only like three soldiers with a pickup truck and limited ammo against an entire horde of those tasty demons. Also, I’m pretty sure they’re so fat that they’re able to just keep going after being shot multiple times.

@@zeche8477 This is what happened. It was three people in a pickup truck with two guns between them (plenty of ammo though). The problem is the birds weren't grouping up enough or staying in the effective range of the machineguns, so it was decided the effort wasn't really worth it. Final kill count: Australians ~300, Emus zero, we just gave up because it was taking too long and a waste of ammo. The whole emu war thing was a result of joking communications between the three soldiers and the local news.
I once asked if Catachans are favored recruits for space marines when they can't be recruited from their home planets. The reply was "Would be a waste of Catachans to make space marines out of them

@@danang5 I don’t see why the resulting space marines would have to be the same result when the humans are so vastly different. A catachan should just result in a better space marine then a typical human recruit. Also the failure rate for space marines comes partly from the humans failure in various trials that a catachan warrior would be more likely to succeed at. Lastly a typical space marine will live hundreds of years and particularly good space marines will live up to and over 1000 years. If you made a catachan into a space marine then you have effectively multiplied their power not just in terms of the immediate future but by the 2-10 times as much by giving them more time.

When the Imperium has to deal with the really crazy guard armies like Krieg and Catachan they should either pick people from said planet to train as Commissars so they might work out better with their units or just slap a commissar hat on a senior officer leave them be and call it a day just so the Imperium can check the "got a commissar" box on their paperwork.
Catachan might benefit from having a in planet Comissar.
Kreig though, really needs an outsider to rein in their tendencies, and keep them from charging towards their deaths.
The point of Commissars, similar to Chaplains with Marines, is to keep unit's loyalty to the Empire and nothing else. If the Commissar is from the same planet as the regiment, then it might create possibility of disloyalty out of loyalty to their home. So I'd assume they DON'T want Commisars that are Catchans with a badge. Plus Commisars are from Schola, so I'd imagine even a Catchan would be worn down by it or else they would not make it through.
They technically did. The first officer Nork ever served as a bodyguard as an old catachan colonel who was also made a commissar. The reason he didn't get killed by the other catachans was because he was a colonel long before he was a commissar, and even once made a commissar he completely disregarded the dumb hat and outfit and functions and just continued to be a colonel instead.
@@Blazo_Djurovic that depends on the planet, if you put anything but a cadian commissar on a cadian regiment they will see it as an offense to their honor and the honor of the regiment, this happens on the book cadian blood, and that commissar has a higher chance of well having an accident involving falling on his bayonet, while krieg needs outside commissar for containing their tendencies of just charging their enemies and to serve as a liaison to other guard regiments, catachans like catachan commissars because they tend to act like then and understand then, while the outsiders tend to have the same type of accidents that the non cadians ones. But the majority of worlds are fine with what ever commissar the munitorion sends.
One could think that getting place as a commissar on these planets are some form of punishment.

I never put it together but the Ogryn at 47:17 is a 40k version of Forrest Gump. The line about medals and liking the imperial guard is a play on the line from when he was in boot camp, and he even saved his commanding officer from danger, to have that commanding officer loose his legs.

I'm pretty sure I've read a lore blurp where there was an attempted invasion of Catachan by a Tyranid splinter fleet. It failed because Catachan destroyed every Nid that touched down on the surface. Not the Jungle Fighters the flora and fauna of the planet beat a Tyranid invasion.

The huge figure shambled toward the thin and tangled body of Colonel Greiss. Luckily, the ancient colonel had been thrown
free of the carrier as it veered out of control. Now the Chimera perched up-ended in a drainage ditch, steam and smoke pouring from its crew compartment. The force of the explosion had pitched Greiss into a ditch on the other side of the track.
As the massive Ogryn towered over the tiny body, he sensed that his master was badly hurt. He looked for a moment at the oddly twisted limbs and blood-soaked uniform and poked the old man a couple of times to make sure he wasn't fooling.
Greiss moaned faintly.
Nork felt a tide of misery well up inside his huge and faithful heart. Greiss was his friend. Greiss had been good to Nork and let him fight by his side. The Ogryn fumbled with his water bottle, breaking off the cap with clumsy hands as he gently
proffered the bottle to the man's lips.
Greiss murmured as the cool water splashed over his face.
"Nork," he whispered. "Stop trying to drown me and fetch the medi-pack."
" Yus, sarr!" shouted Nork, saluting instinctively with his left hand, then his right hand, then
both hands together.
Nork shuffled to his feet and loped back toward the carrier. He picked his way past the crumpled bodies of the crew and the HQ squad and noticed with only passing curiosity the pain in his own legs where numerous shrapnel hits had penetrated his thick hide. Without a second thought, he grabbed hold of the Chimera behind its rear track guards and heaved. The weighty vehicle shifted slightly. He heaved again. There was a creak of tortured metal as the carrier pivoted against the soft edge of the ditch and came to rest on its broad tracks.
Colonel Greiss tried to flex his hands. Nothing. He tried to raise his head but as he did so his vision swirled and he lost consciousness. He came round moments later, or minutes, or was it hours, it was hard to tell. His ears were booming from the noise of the explosion. All he could hear was a sound like something large and heavy being slowly dragged over
an unyielding surface. His sight seemed to be growing dim and shadowy. Then he realized Nork was standing over him and beside Nork was the wreckage of the Chimera. The Ogryn had dragged the armored carrier out of the ditch and 20 yards down the road.
" I said fetch the medi-kit, not the carrier, Nork," whispered Greiss. He was regaining the feeling in his arms and legs and didn't like it much.
" Da medi-kit is in da carrier, sarr," beamed the Ogryn.
" Good thinking Nork," grunted the colonel through clenched teeth and mounting pain. "Now bring the medi-kit over here."
" Yus, sarr!" came the loud and snappy response as Nork plunged into the Chimera, remembered he had forgotten to salute, came back, saluted twice for good measure, and busied himself searching for the vehicle's medical supply chest.

Don't forget Tallarn, where you're lucky if you see drinking water once a week, or Valhalla, where you're lucky if you don't die from exposure because you left a window open.
Hard times make good men
This is because the 40K universe runs on the (pretty fash) idea that hard times breed hard men. Rather than simply breaking people and leaving them traumatized and dead. (Heck, Sly Marbo's first mention in the books was describing how emotionally hollow and depleted he was).
It's the same reason why Space Marines recruit heavily from death worlds, feral worlds, and even the violent underhives of hive worlds. Or why the Schola Progenium and Officio Assassinorum put their students/initiates through hellish training.
So I'm writing this down for future me to use as in a killteam campaign.
Imagine an imperial assasin menaged to tranq a bomb toad for use in a glitterbomb style assasination attamt but he got distracted by some other ant or another and is otherwise engaged.
Now it is your killteams task to retrieve the bombtoad and keep feeling al nice and fuzzy. However a local ork nob who's eyesight got detracted by the local spikey trees heard the bomb toad fall asleep and assumed it was his favorite squig and has sent a killteam of his own to retrieve it.
just seems like such a good time, orks trying to "rescue" a bombtoad and humans trying to keep from exploding.

This has bugged me everytime I watch this video but Bricky, you forgot to mention how during the 3rd War for Armageddon, when Commisar Yarick sent a request to Coronel Iron Hand Straken to help them defend against the Orks, Coronel Straken took the invite and when they arrived in Armageddon, he sent Sly Marbo to defend an entire Factory Complex from Ork looters and to no one's surprise, Sly succeeded in his mission and throughout the course of the war, successfully defended thw complex to thw point where Orks think that the Complex was haunted.
Catachan could be the best marines in the imperium, if they weren’t so busy being fucking awesome.

And on the topic of Greiss, that hat on Norks skull speaker was originally his, if I’m remembering that correctly. Nork took it as a keepsake of his old boss.
Fun story about Nork. One time during a battle in a place called Chabda against the orks, the imperial command bunker got overrun by the ork warboss and a ton of meganobz. All the guardsmen fled except Nork, who punched his away clean through all the meganobz until he reached the warboss, at which point he headbutted him so fucking hard the warboss went flying through one of the bunker's walls and fell into a river of acid. The remaining meganobz were so impressed and intimidated that they promptly fucked off from the command bunker.

The vein worm sound like a fictional representation of the very real ringworms basically if you walk around barefoot in the forest you can feel a little painful nip at your feet and that would be the one digging into your skin and they'll call ringworms because when they'll in your skin they tend to loop around making visible ring
Absolutely my favorite episode yet lol. I love the Catachan Jungle Fighters and based my airsoft tactics on the Catachan Devils, including traps, ambushes, and striking behind enemy lines. It's actually a lot of fun.
I like the idea that all of the Sly Marbo stories are true, but they're all different Catachans doing it.

Boosts morale as an example to strive to be. Hell, it could even be some old linguistic shifting from before the Imperium rolled in. In "The Devil you Know", Cain and some Catachans fight against Nids and Dark Eldar together (along with Jurgen), but he wasn't there as commissar, just as a representative of Inquisitor Vale
I'm guessing Cain was shitting bricks because he knew full well the Catachan's reputation with commissars while the Catachans are feeling him out to see if he really does live up to his reputation of insane antics that somehow work out?

I've been catching up on 40k stuff, and apparently in a White Dwarf magazine in a lore snippet it's heavily implied that the Silent King made the Tyranids while out of the galaxy as a big fuck you to living things.
Adeptus Podcastus do in deep and made a cool theory on how it is not only plausible but how it worked.
I remember reading somewhere that Catachan Devils were related to Tyranids at some point. At this point in the lore, they're probably scarier than most Tyranids.
