Gilda was brilliant, wasn't she. I loved her routines! I had forgotten until this popped up and I watched it. It was such a shock when she died. It was so unexpected, she went to the doctor, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and died 3 days later.
My understanding is she had a test which showed she was in remission or that the cancer was gone, but the test was wrong. I think a lab mistake, not sure. That lead to the cancer progressing beyond treatment. Very sad.

My daughter thought that was mildly amusing and cracked a smile. Either we oldies who grew up on this stuff are stupid and have an immature sense of what's funny, or this younger generation has NO sense of humor for good stuff. What my daughter thinks is funny, I don't, and vice versa about 90% of the time.
You were seeing it as we did for the first time. Comic mastery. The 70's were delightfully crazy to live through anyway. Maybe thats where such an intense character came from
Ya shoulda been there...those were the times!
You missed out when it was really live from NY
One of my favorite SNL characters. RIP Gilda Radner!
Priceless!! Gilda was incomparable.
Hello Maureen, how are you doing?
Don't forget her one-girl show she did on Broadway
Just one of the best ever from Gilda. She such an Angel Of Comedy.
I don't know how Jane can hold it together without bursting out laughing. 😮
A great memory tickler. Miss this character. Gilda Radner was a gift
The very BEST of SNL years. Funny lady, you are missed.
RIP 🌹Gilda🌹
Gilda Radner was truly a treasure on SNL, she kept me laughing😂
I just quoted her last week!!! “As Rosanne Rosannadana always says..” 🤣🤣🤣
What a comedic genuis. We could use more of that kind of talent today!
Hello Joanne, how are you doing?
She was the absolute best! Pollyanna Rosanadana had me LOL! I recently watched the opening of her Broadway show on TCM and the skit she did as Nadia Comaneci was hilarious. RIP Gilda; we miss you.
Gilda was a genius! Gone too soon. RIP Gilda.
Hello Cynthia, how are you doing?
gilda could've live to be 150 years old and still died too soon very funny lady one of my all time favorites
Gilda was everybody's favorite Saturday Night date.
Gilda Radnor was so talented... we were robbed by her untimely death from ovarian cancer. I remember she had married Gene Wilder and I think her loss nearly killed him. So sad.
OMG I can't believe its been forty five years! She is as hilarious in this clip as if no tme ever passed. Of all the line ups for SNL, the first were still the best for me. And Gilda was the primary reason I watched it at the time.
Gilda was brilliant, wasn't she. I loved her routines! I had forgotten until this popped up and I watched it. It was such a shock when she died. It was so unexpected, she went to the doctor, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and died 3 days later.
No, she had battled ovarian cancer for a couple years
I'm sorry that's wrong. I distinctly remember her going through treatments and talking about it.
Gene Wilder wrote a book about her battle with cancer. It was a definitely longer battle than 3 days. It brought me to tears.
My understanding is she had a test which showed she was in remission or that the cancer was gone, but the test was wrong. I think a lab mistake, not sure. That lead to the cancer progressing beyond treatment. Very sad.
That's not true
Just found this, forty years later, I wondered if it was still funny. It is. Tears of laughter still stream down even now. She was a classic.
THEY WERE BEYOND EXCELLENT AND NOW THE TALENT SEEMS ALMOST MYTHIC , BUT HERE'S THE VIDEO ! BRAVO !
#GildaRadner thank you for a lifetime of laughter!
She's probably up in Heaven, making every one laugh! RIP Gida see you on the other side my dear
I believe Gilda Radner was the most consummate and professional comedianne of her time. I miss her.
@@joemunsey5088 I love how she even put her love for Gene into her desire to work. I love everything I hear about her. Thank you for your participation in this loving discussion about our girl #GildaRadner
