Recip saw with a long, fine tooth Ruko blade is your friend for cutting the chassis. I like putting a hefty bolt through as well - just in case my welding on the day is a bit tarty. Lots of heavy stuff may be hanging out of that crossmember in years to come - best it doesn't fall off. :-)
Another great video paul, i was gutted when your other channel finished but Adventure 365 is just as entertaining, thanks for taking the time to make these videos very informative, all the best
7:00 Where do you get those chassis marker pens? Mine fell through a rusty hole in the chassis! 🤣 I'm doing a Disco TD5, but found this very helpful, thank you.
Hi Paul, great job as usual. My pickup has a hole (that shouldnt be there) in the panel those bolts you had to grind off pass through. Any tips for removing that panel and replacing it (YRM) has the parts but im wondering if its straightforward or a tub off job.
The bolts on the rear crossmember where they mount the body will sometimes come off but usually you will have to result to the grinder and i think you can replace the panel without taking the tub off but definately would be easier with the tub removed as you get more room to work..
hi realy good vid just about to do mine,, did you pull the loom out towards the engine or back wards disconecting the front? and did it fit laying along the top chassy length wise? cheers,,
Hi...glad you found the video useful i pulled the wiring loom out from the back towards the front and that gives you plenty to lay it back on top of the chassis and rewire your lights...also securing the cable with cable ties to the fuel lines.
The two measurement points on my chassis are different to the new chassis, almost parallel from the tank mounting point to the anti roll bar mount, possibly looks like your is too? Did you still stick to 90/60 or did you move the bottom measurement across to compensate for the slight difference in the new section? Thank you.
Hi smartiboo...i am all for doing all the jobs myself but it all depends on the skillset of the person..sometimes it makes more sense just to give it to someone else..

Hi...i think a reciprocating saw is the easiest way is chopping through the chassis and you can never have to bigger bolts..
One thing for sure you know your stuff that's for sure 🤙🏴
Hi Shaun...thanks for that i think 30 years of playing with rusty landrovers i should have learnt something by now lol..regards Paul

HI Scott...glad you are enjoying the new content hopefully alot more to come..regards Paul
A really interesting video, thanks for posting. Have you ever tried a reciprocating saw for cutting everything up, rather than a grinder?
Hi...glad you enjoyed the video...i do have a reciprocating saw but as per usual i have never got any blades for it..

The measurements are a rough guide so really it is just cut to fit and just offer it up...
@@All4Overland thank you for your reply, helped me out massively, mines on just needs welding when I get chance.
Good job there Paul... 👍That Defender 110 got some Rust! On it 🫣

How much does something like this cost in total. Labour plus materials ?
Hi alanunknown8932...depending on much rust there is between £1200-£1400..
Top job that. Well done.
It came out well that did and the customer was happy too..
i love land rovers that'll do tolerance
Hi sean...theres nothing like a tolerant landrover lol..regards Paul
I cut a hole in the old part of chassis that's coming off so I can get in and move the loom out of the way.
