  • Have you ever felt it was difficult to follow Islamic practices?
Learning about Islam is a necessary part of every Muslim’s faith journey, but sometimes, we come across rules and recommendations that may feel confusing or overwhelming. We might feel like our day-to-day experiences in the West clash with our practice of Islam and make our lives feel more difficult.
What should we do when we feel burdened by Islamic rulings and recommendations? How can we make sense of rules that feel disconnected from our perspectives and daily lives? How can we understand the wisdom behind rulings that we find difficult to follow?
Join Mohamad Zaoud as he explores these questions and more with Dr. Tesneem Alkiek, Director of Expanded Learning at Yaqeen Institute.

As a female.. I tell you I have come to understand that the one who loves me the most is My Lord! I mean my the exhaustion during the monthly cycle… it’s only HIM who actually gives me a break.

I think it was the intention of Allah for us to question these versus. Allah instilled us with just a little knowledge and encouraged us to seek answers to our questions. Every Muslim including the most educated Islamic scholars interpret these verses differently and that does not make you less of a Muslim or more of a Muslim it just makes you human

The beauty of Islam is that she can make wudhu n sit on the prayer mat n make sincere dua.
Allaah rewards you if you follow His laws even if doesn't make sense to the human intellect you will be rewarded by Him.
Also in wudhu we don't question why it breaks if you pass wind

Masha Allah. Welcome to Islam. Yes there are many rules but do remember to never be hard on yourself. Don't come under pressure from fellow muslims who would want you to be a sahabiyat. Always go with your instincts and take time to improve yourself. Barakallahu feek.

Mashallah sister. I reverted last year. When I was on the road towards Islam, I thought “man there is no way I can pray 5 times a day, fast all month, wear a hijab” it all seemed to difficult. And at first part different parts of it was. But once you really are doing it for God, it becomes easier somehow. If you give one step Allah sbt gives you 10 steps.

Indeed...“Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear…”Quran (02:286) ..Close Relationship with the Creator
At the core of Islam is the focus of an individual's personal relationship with God, their Creator. It encourages a believer to have sustained awareness of God which is a key to lasting happiness.
Islam teaches that God is the source of peace. By focusing on this important relationship and following God's guidance, believers will be able to acquire inner peace and tranquillity. Seeking lasting happiness through other means, such as following one's desires or the accumulation of material possessions, will never fill the void we have. This need can only be filled with the awareness of God.
True contentment is found in acknowledging and obeying the Creator: "Truly, in remembering God do hearts find rest." Quran 13:28
The primary reason for this close relationship is that Muslims have a direct connection with their Creator. There is no intermediary, such as praying to, or through, others, in worshipping God.

How about not too strict on rituals but focus on being a goid human being a good samaritan , a person with emphaty, caring , reaching out , humble , seriously participating in taking care of the earth we lived in,

You comment remind me of this term MTD . As described by Smith and his team, Moralistic Therapeutic Deism consists of beliefs like these: 1. "A god exists who created and ordered the world and watches over human life on earth." 2. "God wants people to be good, nice, and fair to each other, as taught in the Bible and by most world religions." 3. "The central goal of life is to be happy and to feel good about ones self." 4. "God does not need to be particularly involved in one's life except when God is needed to resolve a problem." 5. "Good people go to heaven when they die."
That is a new religion by itself!

Just want to help you in your outlook..I am revert..so I may know things maybe.. I can try to explain as I try to explain to born muslims...by saying I lived in another world before.
When I came to the world of Islam everything made sence. BEFORE..I was very frustrated and ignorant and lost., when not a Muslim.
So when I was told to do these rules I understood this is for my protection against evil. As well I understood the human is very unbalanced..and extremely forgetful..I am
Not saying I am so dutiful..I am human ..but when a rule or law is given I follow as best as I can..since I am ignorant and My Rub who created me wants the best for me, like when a parent gives you wisdoms...we have to TRUST. Not blind follow, that is why we educate ourselves and work on our faith..
I think your conflict is you are in that Judo-Christain -athiest world and the shaytan is weswesing you.
ISLAM is the Truth and has the highest knowledge in Divine knowledge..as well as the correct information on dealing with this life....as well knowing about the unseen..meaning Jinns and their mischief towards humans.
So many of your doubts on these ruling we have to do..May be have to do with these issues pertaining to do with Jinns.. ( could be as Allah is knower or all things ). As well this has to do with our conviction on our belief. Meaning making us stronger in faith.. we should be building .this constantly.. Submission, obedience Trust, life is constantly a test.. and a struggle to working to change to be balance. Do not let your intellect rule you..sometimes people in West worship that trait...and that is leading down a road of arrogance and pride..added to this do not forget the shaytan's traps, he wants you to comparing yourself with that society... in my opioion , a very childish society..I do what I want when I want and not growing up, always play. Well, we have to grow up and see this life for what it is. We are just passing through to the next life.
    Hope this helps your doubts.
    Jazakallahu khair.
