It is what it is mate. For us who live in Leeds it a lifeline, saves us driving to MAN/EMA. Have flown from there 5 times this year and apart for a slight delay once due to security upgrade its been a smooth experience.
Absolutely true mate! For a major city like Leeds to have an airport like that is appalling! The worst thing is the location and lack of transport links….still in the 70s!
The airport was going to be modernised and extended but Leeds council refused planning permission,also it has been widely reported that security would be disrupted in December due to new equipment being installed
Well done to Lee for calling out these horrible dross airports and Leeds deserves better.
You really did have an unfortunate start at the airport but least you arrived in Tenerife

As someone from North Yorkshire, I am just thankful there is Leeds Bradford airport :), as after Manchester it can be difficult getting flights without having to travel too far.
Darlington Tees Valley is pretty rough too. Dont try getting the train to the airport.

The trouble with Leeds is there is nowhere to develop plus the runway is short and in the wrong direction. It was never designed to have regular jet aircraft operations. What they should have done is develop Doncaster Airport. But instead they are building houses on it. In the meantime there is zero appetite to develop aviation in Britain. It’s like living in a third world country when you compare our airports to places in other countries. It’s such a shame and very frustrating.

You ever hear of Sustainability Development Goals? And the Fires report... The plan is no more airports. I wouldn't be surprised if Leeds goes first.. this their 2050-2060 plan. The Green agenda.

Several drivers with the same skin tone tend to share a licence in Bradford, this was well known in the early 90's and it wasn't just ordinary drivers, it was taxi drivers.

I fly from LBA quite a bit and personally haven't had that many problems. I always get fast track through security and so far it seems to have worked OK. My last time from LBA was at the end of September and I'll be flying from there again next month to Lanzarote. They are also starting on a much needed £100 million extension and redevelopment of the terminal. I was also in Tenerife in June and had a great time 😃

Watched another vlogger fly to canaries from there the other day and he breezed through security
He flew around midday though so a bit later than Lee and the airport looked very quiet. Said it took him 5 mins to go through security
Totall agree . I used it twice before i discovered Doncaster Airport which was a little gem but unfortunatly has closed now.

I couldn't agree more. The last three times we've travelled to Leeds from Toronto, we've flown direct to Manchester and taken the train to Leeds, and flown to LBA via. Amsterdam and Dublin.
The experiences we've had at LBA have on arriving and departing have been less than pleasant. We will fly into Manchester going forward and take a cab to Leeds. Also if you want to see what also reflects negatively on the city. you should visit the LNER first class lounge in Leeds railway station, it's abysmal and filthy.
Leeds has no long-haul scheduled flights so travellers have to change planes anyway. Good point re LNER but rail lounges (both here and in mainland Europe) cannot compete with what airports offer (even if it's below par).

Leeds is the largest city in western europe without a mass transit system. Probably got the most cycle lanes and bus lanes and 20mph speed limits though

Luton Airport is the worst SHITE HOLE ever for us in NW LONDON. My luggage left off the Carousel more than 2 hours.. My heart rate went up 300%. A HOLOES... JW BLACK is 23 quid at local Tesco compared to 24 Quid at your airport. OKAY 1 Litre so prob good value
Enjoyed seeing Keighley, and familiar roads, you could also see all the flooding in the Aire Valley. Thanks Lee. Wasn't too impressed with LBA but Jet2 are brilliant.

those lunge at the airport are not 1st class lounges, they are Priority Pass/Dragon Pass lounges..... GBP 20 does not buy much these days.
Most times you are better off getting a Meal-Deal and sit somewhere airside.
The lounges are run by 3rd parties and NOT the airport.
Always best to look up reviews on lounges.

7 quid a pint at the airport bars so hardly takes much to get your money back
I bet 90% of people booking them either want somewhere quiet to guarantee a place to work before a flight or will have 3 or 4 drinks in which case it covers the lounge

The jet engine sounded a but rough. For the return journey they will have the worlds first long-distance Electric Plane! And emergency boat for when they can't charge in-flight😂😂

I agree LBA is a bad airport when it's busy it just can't cope.. but you saying Manchester airport is fantastic totally gob smacks me.. worst airport in Uk in my experience.. too big and too understaffed to cope.. many a time I have waited 1 to 2 hours for my bag.. I've even seen the airport police move in sensing a riot as tempers start to flare.. Manchester airport is just abysmal.. Leeds' problem stems from too many flights leaving all at the same time and the terminal isn't big enough to cope with that amount of people..
True Mancheter airport run by commie Man city council i full of long dark passages with no travelators and security over the top and unfriendly even if old and infirm.

They are demolishing it and rebuilding and about time too. Recently flew out of Manchester T3 and have to say it wasn’t much better
The airport used to be owned by 5 local councils BUT was sold to a private company so why should the local taxpayers fund it, Contact the real owners (AMP capital now called infrabridge) and tell them what they are doing wrong.

That £20 airport breakfast looked shockingly bad, a ropy piece of bacon, what looked like luke warm baked beans and piece of toast and a bap or balm as you say up north. I’ve seen better breakfasts out of Morrisons Cafe. Never flown from Leeds Bradford but from the stories I’ve heard…I’ll leave it there. Nice to see you meet with The Craicmaster again. Leeds city council is not responsible for updating the airport as it does not own it. What they are responsible for are the transport links to get there which are abysmal unless you want to cycle there

Hello Lee, I do enjoy your travel videos ... they are so objective. Yes catering in The Yorkshire Lounge was below par. Manchester would have better lounges because it's served by prestige carriers like Cathay Pacific, Emirates and SIA. These airlines would not tolerate their best passengers having to use inferior lounges. Leeds has no long-haul flights ... yes it has KLM but the latter is just short-haul to Amsterdam.

I used Leeds Bradford airport in September, straight through security no problem, it's not that bad & I prefer it to Manchester.

Jet2 are our favourite airline and are our first choice if possible, we like to go to Crete & Greece with them.

Leeds are in the middle of updating all there security machines so from Feb onwards you won’t have to remove any liquids or gadgets from your bag. Should be worth another try later in the year Lee

Here in Northern Ireland, they close our Motorway to land the plane (they need to use the Motorway to land on). Obviously the Police make a fortune as the plane breaks the 70mph speed limit whilst landing. The Jet2 Pilot has 3,216 points on his licence so far.
Went to Tenerife last Wednesday through LBA and from leaving our house through to bar in departures, it took 1/2 hour. However, my mum works at LBA and says same as you, it seriously needs upgrading which is the current plan but until these upgrades are done, it is still such a substandard airport in terms of what it offers. Arrivals is a joke as well coming back into LBA

Hi Lee. I was on your flight. I agree Security was a nightmare, although you weren’t in the First Class Lounge. The first class lounge is 1432 Runway where I was. Full English available and excellent service. It would have cost you a bit more though. Have a good week
Bristol airport has to be the worst airport in the world. It’s extremely overcrowded. There’s not enough seats or space so people are sitting and lying on the floor. The location and access is terrible over 20 miles from the motorway on non-dual single track road. The airport is built on a hill so the runway can’t be extended and that means long haul flights can’t be accommodated which is just as well as the terminal can’t cope with anymore passengers. But yes you’re right Leeds is pretty awful too.
Should try Liverpool airport out one trip, one of the best airports I’ve ever flown out of.
So you were hunted in Whitby. Wonder what’s gonna happen in Leeds. The bike lanes are used so you are wrong there AGAIN. We can’t use them as cars are parked either in or on them.
It's dire, flew back from Alicante a few months ago. Everything fine at the Spain side, an absolute shambles at Leeds / Bradford. Flight was only 2 and a half hours, we then waited an hour on arrival ( with no info about the delay ) for the cases to start arriving on the turntable. All this at a very quiet airport.
Lee,you are bang on. The place is a joke, god knows what visitors from overseas think. The main reason it keeps going is because it has a large population on its doorstep.when its busy you can end up sitting on the floor due to lack of seats. And the bus shelter waiting area on the runway🙄

Never had an issue with LBA. It was supposed to be rebuilt but the activists complained and got it scrapped. Thankfully they are redeveloping to older plans anyway. Its privately owned, so the council wont put a penny in to it. Will be a much nicer experience when its redeveloped!
Great vlog Lee Lee gonna make a point of flying Jet2 next year and if LBA is that bad I do wonder why Jet2 are not doing anything about it as LBA is their home base and I would have thought they would want to be proud of it so hopefully you may have started a revolution (notice the cheap pun in there ) with this vlog but roll on more Tenerife vlogs 😊😊😊😊
Totally agree Lee. Only flew from Leeds once and never again. Terminal is totally inadequate. Long Stay Parking access is also a pain. Can't beat Newcastle or East Midlands for a smaller regional airport.
