The base station is absolutely genius, its taken it from being a minor thing to housing multiple functions as well as having an amazing feature of keeping the vacuum IN it so its not sticking out like an ugly toe. I think this could cause a change in the market, the next step would be going from separating the components of mopping and vacuuming to having the base station automate the process, swap the tools then go back on a new scheduled run.
It looks like huge step in the right direction. For me, they didn't have to include vaccum. I don't mind two separate robots if they do their respective jobs well. I wish it had internal water tank instead, that would let you control the waterflow and how wet the pads are and just use the base to clean the pads from time to time and refill the internal tank. Also, with incasing base like that, they could inlude uv ligt for desinfecting the pads. I suppose that I can wait and maybe they will do some of it in the future models :). Great tip with presoaking the stains - I do that too :). Could you show the app a little more?
@@NarwalRobotics It's not the same as the pads won't have consistent humidity but that's good to know either way - it means I could use the robot on my hardwood floors and not ruin them. Thank you for the info.
I got mine as part of their kickstarter, I used it in vacuum mode once to map the house. I only use it to mop my kitchen and dining room floors and it works great.
Hi, I am looking at robot mops. How does the Narwal compare to iLife Shinebot W450? Thanks for this review, will you have a review with the Narwal and Shinebot W450 going head to head, direct comparison? ;)
I purchased one and I regret making the purchase because the pad dries very fast and most of the times is not even napping mopping and just running around with the dry pad, there's no option on the app to make it go and wash more frequently, I emailed the tech support and they said that's how it is suck it up buttercup!
Looks much better than the iRobot M5. But nope I still prefer mopping by myself it’s much faster and better and way cheaper. Love vacuum robots however.
I'm hoping like hell iRobot will come back with a Scooba with a self empty/refill dock like this and smart nav. Would solve all issues/complaints for the most part with the Scooba line and make it far more hands off.
Hi, I got a narwal last week, High-frequency sound was not heard in vacuum mode, but Can’t you hear a high frequency sound from the motor when operating in mopping mode? So I wonder if it’s normal because it’s too annoying. How about you?
Ooh, nice! The Narwal T10! You should compare it to the Roborock S7 once you get it. Which one would you keep? Shark IQ or the Jallen Gabor your brother got?
I would definitely stick to the roborock s7. I have it myself and think over the years it only got better. Since there was over 7 generation worth of experience from the company. The mop on the s7 is really good, took me by surprise.
At first I thought that too but it’s all about keeping the mops clean. If you clean that whole area by the end your just pushing around dirty mopping pads
@@AdamsReviews Well that is an awesome well thought out feature. That’s why I sometimes need to changes out the mop one my Deebot T8 halfway thru its mopping job. If the mops don’t dry to fast I guess it’s okay
I like the design of the dock, it looks bigger than most so I really wish the other robots could do this with their self empty bins to hold more dirt. Speaking of, do you know of any robot with a bagless auto empty bin?
I do not think the roborock will clean as good even the new s7 will not mop as good...by the time it's done with a job its dragging around all that dirt.. This Narwal cleans itself every time it needs more water so when it gets to the new area its cleaning with a clean pad.
@@AdamsReviews Valid point. But the price range is out of control. I've been following this since their crowdfunding. Started at $550 on kickstarter (is still $580 in China) but $1,100 in US. MSRP according to them was supposed to be $800. If it worked well (including the app), maybe $800, but certainly not worth over a grand, and neither of those if it can't get up the tough stuff. I miss the scooba. It was finicky and therefore not the best for the normal consumer I guess, but damn that thing cleaned well!
I wouldnt, seems better to wait 2 - 3 years for a better company to tackle this. The software on this thing seems wonky (although yes they could potentially fix it but I wouldnt bet my wallet on it)
No, because you need to use their proprietary cleaning sheets. And they don’t clean well with out it, and using anything else will most likely break it. Add in its shortcomings with mapping and lidar (robots in lower price tiers do better) and it’s high price, unless you’re an early adopter who buys gadgets constantly id avoid it.
hello, I have a very worrisome question about this robot, in the video the lidar is spinning on the robot all the time, even it is at the base. Does the lidar spin when it is at the base after cleaning and after washing the mops. Please can you give me the answer to this question. if so, how long will the lidar last in this situation?

Good review Adam but as you have said you have yet to find a vacuum robot that can do the job. I believe the closest is the iLife 450 but they never took the design to its logical conclusion with a lower, wider profile, lidar mapping, etc. Until someone comes out with a mopping robot that washes and picks up the dirty water from my floors, I will keep using my Hoover FloorMate® Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner and it does a fantastic job on tile and hardwood floors. Yes it is corded and you have to push it around but only costs $129 but it gets the job done.
Hi Adam. If you are still interested in doing mopping challenges. I got 2 robots suggested to me by amazon (canada) that look pretty much the same as your samsung. it's called Xprit Robospin and Everybot Edge. It would be nice to see them go up against the Samsung and see which bot wins in your challenges. Update: I also just saw now on ebay a bot I highly recommend you check out. it's the Everybot ThreeSpin. This guy looks like he could take the title from your Samsung bot.
@@NarwalRobotics Sorry😅 but I just told the truth ... at least until there is a new software update ... anyway the hardware is great and the overall mopping it's very good compared to the other brands!
A mopping robot is very cool. Unfortunately, most of my house is carpeted except for the bathroom and the kitchen and the 2 combined spaces are too small an area for a dedicated mopping robot like this. What I would like to see in the future, is a carpet washer/shampooing robot. Is there one already on the market or do you know if one is being developed?
*DON'T DO IT!* I have been following this since their crowdfunding 2 yrs ago, and this was a major complaint the early birds have had...no cleaning solution options. They invented their own, and for a reason. Regular cleaners break the machine. The complaint then became that people couldn't clean properly without the proprietary solution and they kept running out of stock. It poses a huge issue. They actually vaguely reference this in the description of their cleaning solution: shop.narwal.com/collections/accessories/products/overseas-solid-floor-cleaning-piece . If you don't want to buy this solution, next best option is super low foam cleaner at low concentrations -- but this still voids your warranty apparently (they call it "human damage"). Slippery slope, as I saw a few people note that they used only the narwal cleaner yet the company accused them of using a different cleaner and voiding the warranty, so this is a huge red flag to me, especially with a unit that costs people over $1k.
As amazing as these things are, it will never clean 100% of the floors. Some of use have too many thing's in the way, or odd spaces. Or under certain tables , because chair might not be big enough for it to fit through.
One problem i have with your reviews you spend to much time on how well the machine maps and not enough on usefulness of the machine itself. Having a robot that maps well isn't going to help anyone if it can't get the job done not fitting under or around furniture. I have several pieces with very limited floor clearance that roomba barely fits under. Why not into ladir the dome would stop it from doing full job that is why you need to run more test in real world surroundings. Reason on my 320 i use swifter wet pads that have scrub strip, i postion the scrub strip on the back so when braava does back/forth pattern it wets then run scrub strip twice over it. Try to get yourself braava 320 and run it.
FYI. This one actually fits under my couch and my roborock does not...however the roborock has a pressure sensor on the lidar so it if hits the couch at all it will back away. This Narwal does not so it will almost force itself under but is able to get back out.
@@AdamsReviews yes i did notice this has much lower profile than other lidar machines as for roborock if it can't fit under your couch what good is it and what other furniture will not fit under. So the reason for the mapping before anything else is because it can’t tell floor vs carpet? Also, it has no main brush, how will it clean carpet?
