This review helped me make a decision on which drawing tablet to get. I got the Huion 16. I’ve never had a tablet before. Only my iPad with Luna display to use photoshop as my only comparison. I think for the money it’s a great buy. Feels good. Functions well. My work flow doesn’t require smoothed lines so I haven’t noticed any wobbling. I love it! Plenty big at 16.
I do believe that in this decade we should get more technologically developed drawing tablets that are going to be more budget friendly. Hope that there will be better deals rather than just Wacom company
We've been at that point for a while. I got my first tablet display from Wacom, the 12WX and not only was it teeny with awful and I mean AWFUL color calibration even after trying to calibrate with the Spyder, it also cost $1,000 Now we're at the point you can find laptops, tablets etc under $600 that are portable but also far larger tablets for oddly cheaper. I got the kamvas 22 Plus and have used it nearly every day for 2 years and it's vastly better than the wacom stuff I've had exp with. It's not cheap but neither is being an artist in general. I feel like brad got a bum tablet since I saw a reviewer Teoh Yi Chie review this model and not have issues with the wavy lines and that guy, is crazy throughout with his reviews. That's not a sass at Brad- he legit does solid reviews but Teoh really goes hard with detailed reviews
@@fadwamin4835 i gave up on huion tbh, I just bought xp pen innovator 16 😍 it's so sofisticated and lightweight can't wait to try it. They say huion pro pens are slightely better compared to xp pen. But xp pen customer service is way better and bro it has 8 buttons + 2 wheels. I didn't draw on it yet but when I try it I will tell you my opinion on it.

I want to design stickers so I really, really don't need a big tablet, however color accuracy is VERY important to me, especially for printing, since it's sticker you know. I haven't seen this specific example, but sometimes those matte screen covers create a graininess to the screen. I had this on an old Fujitsu convertible laptop and was really happy when I realized I could take it off. I have a Wacom tablet now that also has the graininess, but there isn't a removable screen protector as they somehow built the matte look into the screen itself. It bothers me a lot personally as the screen just doesn't look as sharp as it should. I can use any other device to draw (Note 10+, Samsung S7+, iPad) and none of them have that graininess so it looks so much better.
@@richarda3764 yes they might look better but at the expense of having an smooth glass surface with zero resistance when drawing. I had an iPad Pro that i sold because drawing with plastic on glass is horrendous experience. There is a a reason that all screen drawing tablets come with some sort of matte treatement.

I'm getting back into digital art. I stopped traditional drawing or any type of art when I got out of college. That was about a decade ago and these drawing displays weren't really a thing at the time, and if they where they cost more than a grand and up. I think this will be a nice reentry tablet to get myself back into art in general. I do love traditional art significantly more but I don't have a studio to work in so digital is the way to go for me.
Just ordered my Kamvas 16 (2021), for the price it seems like a solid deal. I didn't want to go above $400 as Im starting out in digital art. Im currently using a super cheap xp-pen pen tablet so this should be a nice upgrade :)
@@braindeadotaku3520 I think it's great, it does everything I could want it to do besides touch and that doesn't bother me. It stays pretty cool except the top right part where it can get a little warm, but nothing worrisome. The screen size is great for me, of course a higher resolution would be nice but at this price it's perfect for me. The pen is pretty comfortable, every now and now i get some lag on the pen but it fixes itself pretty quickly. Yeah, overall i think it's great and worth a shot if your interested.

I mean, this tablet can probably do anything you'd want so it's just how many more features you want and how much more your willing to spend. For me this was the sweet spot.
nice to see their new model is a single smooth plane that covers the entire surface. my 156hd has a separation 1cm away from the screen. not really a problem, even less a problem since i covered the tablet in matte plastic anyway but it's still nice to watch.

I've been planning on starting the illustrations for my childrens book for a while now, but am reluctant to start it because of how long I anticipate the process will be with traditional mediums. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my art and having to scarp so many drafts has been a real time sucker. After some time and research into the best drawing tablets for a good price, I decided to go with this one. This will be my first time delving into digital art making, but I think it will be the most streamlined way to publishing and quenching my thirst for artistic perfection. Now that it has been a couple of years since it released, and definitely some driver updates, does it still have that line wobble or is it gone? I've been saving up for almost a year now for a good tablet and I'm wanting this one. Btw, if you're gonna (greatly) help me with testing it, can you test it like the way brad did? I don't understand. What is the difference between a Huion Kamvas 16 and a Huion Kamvas Pro 16? The naming schemes for many pen displays are too similar... kamvas 16, kamvas 16 2021, kamvas 16 pro, kamvas 16 2.5k, kamvas 16 4k, and I feel like I missed some? idk. The comments seem to favor kamvas pro 16, but this video wasn't for the pro version right?

6:40 Wait what ? The pen is supposed to be a new one, ""PenTech3.0"" . All the older Huion models have a ""PenTech 2.0"" . Look on the Huion website : store.huion.com/products/kamvas-16-2021 ( scroll down pages ) The new pen technology is supposed to make a more "drawing like" experience. The pen nib is supposed to wubble less. I m a bit dessapointed that you didn t feel a difference ( at least in a good way) I was waiting to buy a huion product when they will have a more similar drawing exerience like on a Wacom. But it seems that i will wait a bit longer now. Hopefully they will make improvement on the software side
I have both the kamvas 20 (pw507/pen tech 2.0) and kamvas 22 plus (pw517/3.0). Maybe brad didnt notice since its been a while since he’s reviewed a huion with the old pen tech but the the new pen is 100x nicer to draw with since the nib bounce/wobble is completely eliminated.
im a 14 year old artist and i just want to say thank you because i plan to buy this tablet within the next year ive have 2 digital tablets a Wacom Intuos 6in x 3.7in and the tablet that i have right now is a gaomon M10K pro 10in x 6.25in and i find it even after about 3 years of doing digital art its still difficult for me to draw that way ive been doing traditional since i started drawing which was when i was in kindergarden lol and i would love to start with this tablet for a screen display thanks for the review i wanted to see how big it was visually and the quality your review really helped me make up my mind i also got clip studio for christmas so i thought that a new tablet would also help me as an artist thanks!
@@hironshy5337 I meant the current pro, because it looks like the difference between the current pro and this 16 base model is that the pro has an etched glass display vs. This that only has a anti glare filter applied. And this 16 also has a newer pen tech.

I started using a pen tablet (non-display one) many years ago, but I really used it during COVID. Using a whiteboard is fantastic. I used to sketch previously and tried digital painting, too. It is a hobby, and I mainly do it to relax (the same as I do with sketching). As I am travelling a lot now, I was thinking of buying a USB-C display. I am very used to two monitor setups both in my home and office. I think with the price it will be very hard not to buy this even for casual use.

If you are still wandering what tablet to buy, xp-pen or huion or even gaomon or parblo etc etc etc, here's the info that might help Only two companies are manufacturing tablet hardware: Wacom and UC Logic. Remember Genius tablets? Yup, UC Logic. Huion and Xp-Pen? UC-Logic. Yiynova, Parblo, Ugee, Artisul, doesn't matter, digitazer is made by UC Logic. "So, what's the difference between them then?" - you might ask. It's drivers and other hardware parts like buttons, display, usb/type-c/video-input ports and cords. But the core, the tablet itself, is mostly the same everywhere. If there's a bigger panel made by UC Logic, both Huion and XP-Pen will release bigger tablets. If UC Logic will improve on responsiveness and lag, you'll get that from every named brand very soon. And the difference will be barely noticeable. Most of it comes from screen panels these brands use and how much interference they cause. So the right answer for "what to choose" is choose what you like the most. By looks or ergonomics or even just the price tag. Don't buy cheap no-names though, they use very cheap hardware that just wont work right and sometimes fiddle with drivers so much the tablet just wont't work on any pc. Also, Huion and Gaomon are the same company. Literally. Huion = Gaomon.
dud.. the pen is objectivaly better ...... like the sensor is much closer to the surface so the pointer always close to the pen nib and generally gives you better feel and performance... dont understand when you said its not better ??

@@jinjinichi9602 So it uses the 3 in one cable. One cable plugs into the table then branches off into three other cables, a power to go into the wall, a usb and HDMI to go into your computer. My Huion is my only display at the moment for the Mac Mini. I could get a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor and run a second monitor ha So these tablets just act like monitors. I think there's only a very small crowd of people who buy mini's for hooking up tablets for drawing. The original purpose of the mini was suppose to be that cheap option for people to get into Apple. Nowadays it's more of a niche product or it's used as a render farm. So this is probably why it's hard to find much information on people doing these kinds of set ups.
@@miidysama9908 I couldn't get my kamvas pro 16 to stay calibrated. The kamvas 2021 has no glass resistance on the pen whatsoever. It feels like slick glass. This will be third tablet return, ug. Going with the cintiq 16 pro and see how that one works out.

@@gret6907 random, but i have a question! I use a non-pendisplay atm and i ran into the problem, that my laptop sceen is matt and makes the colors dull. When i view the picture i made on the laptop on my phone, the colors are just too saturated. The Huion also has a matt screen. But do you also experience this issue? Like, are the colors waaay off? I don't even know if theres an other option with a matt screen and I'm a little frustrated at the moment, because i just cant color on my old tablet :(

I actually don't like the shortcut buttons because I tend to rest my left hand on paper when I draw. And they definitely should do more 18/19 inch tablets, to me that's a perfect medium size. It is really weird though how Wacom's budget options don't have laminated displays yet, so in that sense I respect Huion a lot. I guess I'm a bit of an aspie, but I'm still waiting for that perfect tablet to come along that is a nice 19 inches with no lag or screengap. And definitely no wave
Thank you for the review! I bought the XP Pen Pro 12 in December in their sale, however the screen has broken on it already, flickers horribly and actually has an after image showing. I'm returning that for a refund and am looking for something else. I will miss the scroll wheel on the XP Pro, but this looks like it could be a nice step up! :)
Guys, this is serious: many people (me including) are complaning about "pink screen" at Kamvas 16 pro (GT-156) near or after the warranty deadline... The colors start to become magenta on the display. And it's not a cable problem, it's not a callibration issue, it's hardware (don't waste your warranty trying to deal with that byourself). With me, that happens and Huion assistance is so badly! They even lied about send me an email with informations. So, before consider buying this brand, take a look in another similar brands. And consider not just the specs, but aftersales, warranty terms, etc. In the beginning that's a beautiful display, but take care for this not become a headache and a waste of money.
Oh ok. Good to know. I'm fine with my XP-Pen but I was considering some portable option. I'm also left hand and I don't know if I can rotate this tablet.

I love this so so much and I actually bought it for my 12 yr old who's the real artist lol but, she loves old school paper and pencil or paint brush and canvas so I use it the most and I love love it. I still don't know how to really use it to its full potential but, I'll get there lol
I'm currently using my wacom 5 Large. Really diggin the size of this. I'll be waiting it out though. I like to see one of these in 2k. With mechanical buttons,those plastic/rubber domes are a no,no.

I know I'm late but I still want to reply this. 😂 I've used that tablet for a few months (since my Huion tablet broke). IMO, it is okay for beginners. It has left-handed mode too if you're lefty (like me) so, you don't have to worry about not being able to use the tablet's buttons. The stylus is battery free, and very light, but it doesn't come with a stand. It works great with every drawing software /app that I've tried (Krita, Autodesk, Medibang, CSP). Though, I am not sure how long this tablet will last.
What is the difference between the Kamvas 16 and the Kamvas Pro 16? Kamvas pro 16 seems to be an older version, but it is more expensive. So what are the pros of it?
Mine developed a dead zone just a couple weeks before the warranty expired. It made me rethink if I really want to buy another "wacom alternative" in the future. I've had some from the intuos line and they're absolutely fantastic, although I've never had any cintiq so I can't speak anything about it.

It hasn’t arrived as yet and starting to doubt I’ve made the right choice. Do you think I should return the pro 16 and look to purchase the new 2021 model? Do you think the drawing experience is better on the new model?
@@m.a.a_artwork I personally didn’t get on with the Kamvas pro 16 and returned it. It’s built really well and looks lovely but the drawing experience was flawed. The pen nib felt really loose like a ball point pen with the spring missing. And there was an issue where the markings on the screen wouldn’t match where I placed pen tip. It would be off by a couple of millimetres especially around the sides of the screen. Whether this is the same for the new model I don’t know. I believe they have changed the pen tip for the latest model so it’s much more firmer. After returning mine I found a deal on the Wacom 16 (none pro model) and would recommend it. The drawing experience is much more natural and feels accurate. It doesn’t have some extras like touch screen or additional input buttons but feels good to draw on which is the main thing.
I blame you for my recent Huion Kamvas 22 purchase haha

I own the last Kamvas Pro 16, and I think it's great, in many ways I prefer it to the Cintiq I use at work.

I've been planning on starting the illustrations for my childrens book for a while now, but am reluctant to start it because of how long I anticipate the process will be with traditional mediums. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my art and having to scarp so many drafts has been a real time sucker. After some time and research into the best drawing tablets for a good price, I decided to go with this one. This will be my first time delving into digital art making, but I think it will be the most streamlined way to publishing and quenching my thirst for artistic perfection. Thanks for the review, it was very helpful! Hope everyone has/will have a good experience with it :)
Now that it has been a couple of years since it released, and definitely some driver updates, does it still have that line wobble or is it gone?

Finally i've being waiting for my fav reviewer to review this. i am planning to buy this as my very first screen tablet. I've being using Huion H940P for 2-3 years(still work great as brand new) but as my art improved, my progression felt slower. Can't wait to have this.

I don't understand. What is the difference between a Huion Kamvas 16 and a Huion Kamvas Pro 16?
The naming schemes for many pen displays are too similar... kamvas 16, kamvas 16 2021, kamvas 16 pro, kamvas 16 2.5k, kamvas 16 4k, and I feel like I missed some? idk. The comments seem to favor kamvas pro 16, but this video wasn't for the pro version right?
Is it possible to have a review comparison from this 2021 version and the 2019~2020 version?... wonder what's the difference between them since they have different price

6:40 Wait what ? The pen is supposed to be a new one, ""PenTech3.0"" . All the older Huion models have a ""PenTech 2.0"" . Look on the Huion website : store.huion.com/products/kamvas-16-2021 ( scroll down pages )
The new pen technology is supposed to make a more "drawing like" experience. The pen nib is supposed to wubble less. I m a bit dessapointed that you didn t feel a difference ( at least in a good way) I was waiting to buy a huion product when they will have a more similar drawing exerience like on a Wacom. But it seems that i will wait a bit longer now. Hopefully they will make improvement on the software side
I have both the kamvas 20 (pw507/pen tech 2.0) and kamvas 22 plus (pw517/3.0). Maybe brad didnt notice since its been a while since he’s reviewed a huion with the old pen tech but the the new pen is 100x nicer to draw with since the nib bounce/wobble is completely eliminated.

im a 14 year old artist and i just want to say thank you because i plan to buy this tablet within the next year ive have 2 digital tablets a Wacom Intuos 6in x 3.7in and the tablet that i have right now is a gaomon M10K pro 10in x 6.25in and i find it even after about 3 years of doing digital art its still difficult for me to draw that way ive been doing traditional since i started drawing which was when i was in kindergarden lol and i would love to start with this tablet for a screen display thanks for the review i wanted to see how big it was visually and the quality your review really helped me make up my mind i also got clip studio for christmas so i thought that a new tablet would also help me as an artist thanks!

@@hironshy5337 I meant the current pro, because it looks like the difference between the current pro and this 16 base model is that the pro has an etched glass display vs. This that only has a anti glare filter applied. And this 16 also has a newer pen tech.

I started using a pen tablet (non-display one) many years ago, but I really used it during COVID. Using a whiteboard is fantastic. I used to sketch previously and tried digital painting, too. It is a hobby, and I mainly do it to relax (the same as I do with sketching). As I am travelling a lot now, I was thinking of buying a USB-C display. I am very used to two monitor setups both in my home and office. I think with the price it will be very hard not to buy this even for casual use.

If you are still wandering what tablet to buy, xp-pen or huion or even gaomon or parblo etc etc etc, here's the info that might help
Only two companies are manufacturing tablet hardware: Wacom and UC Logic. Remember Genius tablets? Yup, UC Logic. Huion and Xp-Pen? UC-Logic. Yiynova, Parblo, Ugee, Artisul, doesn't matter, digitazer is made by UC Logic.
"So, what's the difference between them then?" - you might ask. It's drivers and other hardware parts like buttons, display, usb/type-c/video-input ports and cords. But the core, the tablet itself, is mostly the same everywhere. If there's a bigger panel made by UC Logic, both Huion and XP-Pen will release bigger tablets. If UC Logic will improve on responsiveness and lag, you'll get that from every named brand very soon. And the difference will be barely noticeable. Most of it comes from screen panels these brands use and how much interference they cause.
So the right answer for "what to choose" is choose what you like the most. By looks or ergonomics or even just the price tag. Don't buy cheap no-names though, they use very cheap hardware that just wont work right and sometimes fiddle with drivers so much the tablet just wont't work on any pc.
Also, Huion and Gaomon are the same company. Literally. Huion = Gaomon.
I told my husband I wanted the kamvas 13 2020 for Christmas so we will see if he got me one if not ill be buying one
dud.. the pen is objectivaly better ...... like the sensor is much closer to the surface so the pointer always close to the pen nib and generally gives you better feel and performance... dont understand when you said its not better ??

@@jinjinichi9602 So it uses the 3 in one cable. One cable plugs into the table then branches off into three other cables, a power to go into the wall, a usb and HDMI to go into your computer. My Huion is my only display at the moment for the Mac Mini. I could get a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor and run a second monitor ha So these tablets just act like monitors. I think there's only a very small crowd of people who buy mini's for hooking up tablets for drawing. The original purpose of the mini was suppose to be that cheap option for people to get into Apple. Nowadays it's more of a niche product or it's used as a render farm. So this is probably why it's hard to find much information on people doing these kinds of set ups.
@@miidysama9908 I couldn't get my kamvas pro 16 to stay calibrated. The kamvas 2021 has no glass resistance on the pen whatsoever. It feels like slick glass. This will be third tablet return, ug. Going with the cintiq 16 pro and see how that one works out.

I use a non-pendisplay atm and i ran into the problem, that my laptop sceen is matt and makes the colors dull. When i view the picture i made on the laptop on my phone, the colors are just too saturated.
The Huion also has a matt screen. But do you also experience this issue? Like, are the colors waaay off? I don't even know if theres an other option with a matt screen and I'm a little frustrated at the moment, because i just cant color on my old tablet :(
@@Rumkugel Hello! Sadly, yes the colors seem less contrasted and appear more muted in the display tablet because of the mattified screen. :((

I find it really sad that almost nobody said something about the color noise. Thus the screen looks kind fuzzy.
I actually don't like the shortcut buttons because I tend to rest my left hand on paper when I draw. And they definitely should do more 18/19 inch tablets, to me that's a perfect medium size. It is really weird though how Wacom's budget options don't have laminated displays yet, so in that sense I respect Huion a lot. I guess I'm a bit of an aspie, but I'm still waiting for that perfect tablet to come along that is a nice 19 inches with no lag or screengap. And definitely no wave

Thank you for the review! I bought the XP Pen Pro 12 in December in their sale, however the screen has broken on it already, flickers horribly and actually has an after image showing. I'm returning that for a refund and am looking for something else. I will miss the scroll wheel on the XP Pro, but this looks like it could be a nice step up! :)
Guys, this is serious: many people (me including) are complaning about "pink screen" at Kamvas 16 pro (GT-156) near or after the warranty deadline... The colors start to become magenta on the display. And it's not a cable problem, it's not a callibration issue, it's hardware (don't waste your warranty trying to deal with that byourself). With me, that happens and Huion assistance is so badly! They even lied about send me an email with informations. So, before consider buying this brand, take a look in another similar brands. And consider not just the specs, but aftersales, warranty terms, etc. In the beginning that's a beautiful display, but take care for this not become a headache and a waste of money.
Oh ok. Good to know. I'm fine with my XP-Pen but I was considering some portable option. I'm also left hand and I don't know if I can rotate this tablet.
Hey thanks for the review, couple of things can enhance the usage of this video 1. Whether this is a paid video 2. and Most important factor how well does it compare to a wacom cintiq. I mean most folks are thinking about it, whether this is worth it or to bite the bullet and go for the best one ?

I love this so so much and I actually bought it for my 12 yr old who's the real artist lol but, she loves old school paper and pencil or paint brush and canvas so I use it the most and I love love it. I still don't know how to really use it to its full potential but, I'll get there lol
I'm currently using my wacom 5 Large. Really diggin the size of this. I'll be waiting it out though.

I've used that tablet for a few months (since my Huion tablet broke). IMO, it is okay for beginners. It has left-handed mode too if you're lefty (like me) so, you don't have to worry about not being able to use the tablet's buttons. The stylus is battery free, and very light, but it doesn't come with a stand. It works great with every drawing software /app that I've tried (Krita, Autodesk, Medibang, CSP).
Though, I am not sure how long this tablet will last.

What is the difference between the Kamvas 16 and the Kamvas Pro 16? Kamvas pro 16 seems to be an older version, but it is more expensive. So what are the pros of it?
Mine developed a dead zone just a couple weeks before the warranty expired. It made me rethink if I really want to buy another "wacom alternative" in the future. I've had some from the intuos line and they're absolutely fantastic, although I've never had any cintiq so I can't speak anything about it.

Great review as always Brad. Since the release of this model I found a retailer selling the Kamvas pro 16 with a big discount so took the plunge. It hasn’t arrived as yet and starting to doubt I’ve made the right choice. Do you think I should return the pro 16 and look to purchase the new 2021 model? Do you think the drawing experience is better on the new model?

@@m.a.a_artwork I personally didn’t get on with the Kamvas pro 16 and returned it. It’s built really well and looks lovely but the drawing experience was flawed. The pen nib felt really loose like a ball point pen with the spring missing. And there was an issue where the markings on the screen wouldn’t match where I placed pen tip. It would be off by a couple of millimetres especially around the sides of the screen. Whether this is the same for the new model I don’t know. I believe they have changed the pen tip for the latest model so it’s much more firmer. After returning mine I found a deal on the Wacom 16 (none pro model) and would recommend it. The drawing experience is much more natural and feels accurate. It doesn’t have some extras like touch screen or additional input buttons but feels good to draw on which is the main thing.

You should learn how to tut for the hand dance, maybe with a nice and basic "How to do a Basic Tutting Combo" video.
