Yes, a paper/journal video please. Like a Strathmore all-media journal is bigger and less pages, but how does it affect the nibs of Karins and Tombows?
thank you for the time that you took to get, create and review these pens. What an amazing video. :) You are totally down to earth. Thanks for sharing!
New subscriber - and no regrets ! Everything about you is so aesthetically pleasing and you’re great to watch for pen reviews and recommendations ... please keep it up !!
I ordered your beginning lettering brush pen recommendations last night and I’m making another wish list now. My favorite pens of all time (that make my handwriting look the best!) are the plain old black BIC crystal and the black Papermate Flair! 🤪
Just to let you know, the faber castell brush pens also are dual tipped. They dont unscrew like the ecolines. You just sort of pinch the tip between two fingers and pull and it comes out easily. Just flip it over and you have a new tip. For me, this totally changed the game. Before this discovery, i felt like they were overpriced and not worth their cost. But being able to change the tips out literally doubled their lifespan for me. Sorry if someone else already said this! Love the video!
I don't really do handlettering but I love watching your videos! All the colors, types of pen and of course your lettering skills is just so pleasing to watch
Hi Suzy, Thank you so much for mentioning that the Tip/ nib of Faber Castell Artist Pens can bei flipped. It should be written on the packageing but it isn't! These were my first brush pens and they frayed SO quickly! Now I can use them furthermore (on supersmooth Papier only).
Incredible video! Thanks so much for this. Another one you could try are the Staedtler dual tip, I believe they can fray but they have beautiful colors! And are very cheap
I totally think certain pens make your handwriting look better/worse esp if pens bleed they make my writing look HORRIBLE! I really LOVE the inkjoy pens this year. But they are weird some of them are what I'd say "dry" and others bleed a little. Thank you for the test page can't wait to try it out!
The Fabre-Castell Pitt Artist Brush Pens fray super easy because they are made more for traditional art, not hand lettering, but you can still use them for lettering. Same with the Karin Deco Brush, except they are made for both traditional art and brush lettering and don’t fray easily. The only thing is that the Karin is SUPER inky which can be bad if you don’t have the right paper.
Yes! This is actually what's in the blog post that I linked in the description box! I want to make it into a video but I'm not used to filming without my camera mounted so I'm afraid it'd be super shaky and hard to watch! I will figure out how to do one soon though! Thanks for watching!
Have you considered reviewing the Chinese and Japanese brush pens. Not so much the colors but the variety of "pocket brush pens" and other refillable brush pens. Some have felt tips, others have nylon, and also hair.
For colour blending, try google “colour wheel”. For transitioning effect, use colours thats are next to each other. For contrasting effect, use colour in the opposite of the wheel.
i started brush letterin with brush that was bristles and not foam. when i saw on youtube on how ppl easily wrote brush pens i was like waaaat! coz i thought it the bristled type pen they used and struggled alot with these type of pens and they write well on smooth paper and heres a tip: dont try to use these like foam brushes. dont actually the downstrokes using the side but rotate the brush and flatten the bristles but this is a personal opinion.
There's actually an easy way to know which color to match on a specific color. Using a color wheel, the opposite of the color you chose would be the best match for that color. It is called Complementary colors. There's still more to know. Try searching bout the color wheel😊
You've got like a ton of brush pens and I know it's great to try them out but like, for example, if you're doing large lettering, how do you choose which one to use? Like, you could use Tombow or Ecoline. Do you do whatever you feel like or what?
The PaperMate Ink Joy Gel Pen is really good at the beginning, but once you've used them for a month or two, they start railroading. They go through this phase for at least a few weeks and then they go back to normal and are smooth and inky.
That’s good to know! I have noticed that with mine as well, but I’ll have to keep pushing through to see if they go back to normal! I really love them other than that. Thanks for watching!
I have a quick question. I like thick tip pens & was wondering some good ones that you recommend. I like the pen tips to be as big as I can get but in a good quality pen. Kind of like that white pen you used on the black paper maybe a little larger. I am looking for some regular big tip gel pens & metallic big tip gel pens & then some regular black for my school notes. I looked & seen the white ones were 1.0 & I like that size but maybe a little bigger if possible.
