I really liked the first pen set; the Writech ones. I also liked the metallic Crayolas. 😊 They looked really good on the black paper.
I've had good luck with the Frixion, but I always purchase from JetPens so it is a Japan made pen. I think you would love the Marvy Le Pen Flex Nib. It is awesome. I agree with you on the Emott...it's delightful!

The pilot friction pens in my opinion are mainly for rocketbooks

I love fountain pens way better because they might be more fussy but they can refill the ink and its way cheaper than buying a whole set just for one marker thats gone through its ink :) plus they have flexible fountain pens from fountain pen revolution their Ultra flex nibs are amazing and super fun to play with :) .. Great review
I love the idea of the frixion pens too but have the same issues. I can only use the dark blue and blue, all the rest are junk. Guess I'm lucky those 2 work!

They have a new frixion (synergy) clicker pen out, and the tip is cool, and writing is super smooth!! Go get it, you would love it! Yes, I angle my fountain pen, and it works bettr like that, too!
I've used the pilot frixon pens and there is a lot of skipping but it lessens with use. The felt tip frixons work much better.
I have been using Frixion pens in my planner for years and I haven't had them skip, so I wonder if it's how the pen tip is angled on the paper, like depending on how you hold your pen. Ya know, we all have our own way of writing- heavy or light-handed, holding the pen angled or straight up and down... If you haven't yet, I would try the 0.5 tips and see if those are better. In my planner, I mostly use the Frixion Slimball 0.38's, but those might be way too thin for your taste. Let us know if you try the different point/tip sizes and how they compare. ❤️

I've never had any luck using the pilot frixion pens. I have ADHD and OCD, so the erasable feature was why I got them. I constantly erase and try to start over on things I am writing. However, just like you, I have had every one of then skip. The ink isn't very smooth coming out, its not as thick or as bold of a pen as I like, but every one I have gotten has skipped and the thin line made it almost unbearable for my sensory overload moments!
About skipping pen, try storing it vertically and see if it helps.

Love pen hauls so thank you so much for sharing. I love the Pilot frixion pens but I’m afraid your assessment is correct, they skip a ton. My favorite pen that you showed is the Emoti and I think I’ll purchase them. Blessings 💖💕💕
the thing with the pilot frixion pens is they are basically like using a ball point pen and sometimes if you hold the nock of the pen and swing your arm as hard as you can to get the ink to slide down toward the nib they work great but whatever you do DO NOT PUT THEM IN HOT WATER the ink will erase and they will be useless :( Hope that helps
I also feel like the Karen Deco are not ideal for hand lettering on paper purposes but I use mine sometimes on craft paper.

Also, the staedtler pens do come in a brush pen and they are also pretty colors BUT they fray very quickly unfortunately.
I have the staedler pens as well. I bought them cause they are permanent markers and wouldn't smudge on washi tape
for fountain pens: I really don't like the pre filled ones cause you throw the away if they are empty or dry up. Fountain pens is more of a everyday writing tool to me than a pen for handlettering tbh. We learn writing with them in school here and we get versions that you can refill with eighter premade inkpots or fill them themselves with any color you like. But I mostly write exames with them cause they are less taxing on your hand than a normal pen
the frixion pens also skip a bit for me, but not that much. Some pens do it more than others for me. Always feels like some ink gets stuck and then I just wildy skribble on the side until it evens out again

The writech sign pens come in other colors on AliExpress by another brand, too! I ended up finding them just searching for “small brush pens” and of course I had to buy them all. They’re so pretty and one of my favorite pens now!
I can confirm that I use those Staedtlers for my bullet journal and coloring a lot because of the color selection, too. Never for lettering though.

I have used Frixion in my planners for several years and never noticed the skipping HOWEVER I recently heard that since they are heat activated to erase, if you leave your planner in the heat your writing could disappear. I have not personally tested or experienced this. Just purchased the UNI Emott and love the spring color pack I found at Staples. thanks for sharing your pen haul!
I use frixion pens as markers and to write notes I wont need for a long time. When my notebook is done I put it on the heater and after 30min or so its empty again and I can write new stuff in

Tried using the Frixion in a journal -- was *very" perturbed & dismayed when the inks faded to almost invisibility due to the heat (it was summer)
Yes! This is my one complaint about them. I wrote my sister a 2 page letter last summer and it arrived with the ink "disappeared." Very annoying.

😢 after seeing this video I’ve bingewatched reviews and I finally searched for the Writech Brush Pen in my French Amazon and I see. 50. Freaking. Euros. Whereas in the link provided in the description for the American Amazon, it costs 16,99$ so 15,94€. Granted, I knew it would cost more than that if we add the shipping and the taxes to make it come to an Amazon France warehouse but at most I was expecting between 25-30€.
😢I’ll wait until there’s a sale or something

The price might fluctuate in the future so I’ll just have to wait ❤️ On the other hand, the Emott Everfine brand is also affordable on my Amazon so I’m buying the pastel pack like yours but also the dark/ vintage colors and one of the numerous 5-pack they propose.
@How to Hand Letter I’ve reached out to the brand on their official instagram and they’ve answered me ! Apparently, they’re not able to ship in France that’s why the price I’ve seen is « prohibitively high » and sure enough, after some digging, on the France Amazon, it’s not shipped nor sold by Writech but a reseller SZNSHOPPING. The Writech team also said they will try their best to ship worldwide so it’s just a matter of time.
