Well there is basically zero announcement beside some unboxing and feature videos on Samsung's official YT channels. Really. The Tab S9 series was announced alongside the S24 phone series in a live event.
My S7 FE is still going really well in every aspect. I use it for sketching and (not often) painting, media consumption (including tutorials), browsing and audio streaming.
MicroSD is a major Samsung benefit. I regret buying the cheaper iPad pro many years back with only 64 gb and not having more storage; this will probably be my next upgrade
If it's a 2020 pro or newer with USB C, you could get a Magsafe SSD that you can stick to the back with a Magsafe sticker :) Or you could get something like the Anker MagGo 3 in 1 SD card reader that just came out. Has both a full SD and micro SD card slot and a built in USB C cable
If Samsung ever decides to go all in to marketing to illustrators and artists by adding a few hotkeys along the side or just allowing the pen button to be customizable, they'd truly rake in the dough.
Clip Studio Paint lets you use your phone as a companion so you're able to use the phone screen for hotkeys and color wheel and other stuff. Samsung could invest on something like that with it's galaxy devices
It's a fantastic screen with so much working space. Been using the S8 Ultra since release, and since the display dimensions haven't changed, I can wholeheartedly recommend this S10 Ultra for anyone favouring the Android side of mobile devices. Personally, I love using my S8 Ultra with Super Display to connect to my PC and use in Blender/ClipStudioPaint. I even bought a Sketchboard Pro and modified it so my S8 can sit in it instead of an iPad, and let me tell you, it's like having a Cintiq I can take anywhere. It's _awesome,_ 11/10, would recommend.
Off topic. Just wanna say that I got into digital art more because of your videos. I got my myself a Samsung tab s9, aside from my photography, I used it to for drawing now. I am using Clip Studio Paint and recently use Concept, I really like the interface of this app. Anyway, I bought 1 of your courses online and it has helped me a lot with digital art. Thank you!
I'm happy with my standard S9. Anything more than 11 inches is far too cumbersome to draw on the go. I do wished Samsung released an 8.8 inch one, considering the vocal fan base the iPad mini has.
I'm going to be ordering my S10 Ultra this Thursday when it drops in my country and I seriously can't wait! ☺ I have an S6 and it's still working well but doesn't get the new updates anymore so it's definitely a time for me to upgrade, plus that large drawing space will make me cry tears of happiness. Just got a s9 fe And with an average montly salary of $280 with it costing around $1,500 with taxes , s10 is a pretty distant dream, but I'll watch it anyway

I recently got the S9FE (with 12GB Ram), based in part on Brad's recommendation. I'm happy with it, because I needed the best bang for a budget buck, but part of me really wishes I could have splurged on a larger screen like this :) That said, I did get the slim keyboard case for free with it, and with a wireless mouse, it actually acts as nice travel workstation for me (I do book editing as well as cartooning).
I really wish Samsung will develop their own drawing app like Huawei did with GoPaint, so they will have something that separate them with other android tablets out there... Hardware is great, software is great, but it's just an android tablet and nothing special anymore...

100% agree. Apple had the best software compared to Samsung. How many standalone great apps does Samsung has? The only Samsung app I use day to day is Samsung notes. Two weird things about the S10 tablets: + Virtually no fanfare and no separate announcement whatsoever + MediaTek's processor instead of Qualcomm's Other than that, nothing really stands out from the S9 series, or even the S8 series, but if you have a S6 (even the Lite versions) or S7 series, you could consider the S10 series. (at 14,6 inch, the ultra version has nearly 200% the screen area of a S6 Lite :o )
I agree. There's not that much of an upgrade from the S9 tabs. Only the Mediatek. I think Samsung just released a tablet this year for additional relevance in the competition. Probly to boost the sales of Tab s9's which are really good devices.

Hey Brad, thoughts on Infinite Painter? You didnt shout it out at the end of the vid, just wondering cause I just got an s9 fe and its whatt I chose to learn/get used to
- I am almost completely certain that like with my S7 FE, you can use any Wacom EMR compatible pen (you surely lose the haptic features and some others specific to Samsung, but I think that's a really minor issue) for the many brands out there. IE, for a thick pen if you are more used to that, you have the Lamy AL-Star, which indeed has a better initial activation force (softer, more sensitive, great for pencil shading and anything painting) than the S Pen (at least in S7 gen), and the pen working best for me on the S7 - funnily enough- is the premium (not the standard!) pen made for Amazon Scribble. Its subtlety in pressure is way better than the S Pen's, and kind of better too than the Lamy's. Also, its pen side button is a lot easier to locate while painting than with the S Pen one, and while the Lamy is a bit better than the standard S Pen's side button, the premium Scribble's pen side button is quite better than that, too. To the point said premium pen (thin, and really long, it almost brings me back to painting with an oil or watercolor traditional brush, lol) is what I use for all my compatible tablets with it: the Scribble for some pen sketches in that e-ink device, but also the s7 fe, and I believe it worked with Supernote, too (but I don't use that other e-ink device much). - Krita is for me the best tool, by far, on the S. galaxy tab S, among many other things, for my years long habits with having the color picker in the side pen button, Krita allows to do that in a very snappy way, which is key. And for the large flexibility and features the app packs. Very similarly as I use it on the desktop. Is the app that I'd feel comfy doing with it an actual serious project on the S7 (tho really serious stuff is for the desktop). Infinite Painter comes close, though. And clip Studio, but I only have it on desktop, as I deeply dislike subscriptions (is not only for the money saving: I have the 3.0 EX, been updating with every full integer release, and will keep doing so). What I didn't know is the Ultra S10 is now 15 inches. That's the way to go. I still dream with a 17" inches tablet (24" for extreme pleasure). Some day... I used to draw on an A3 board when there were only traditional options, so, size is not an issue :D.

Brad, Brad Brad! At 00:28 you say a 13" tablet is kinda bulky for a backpack but then in other reviews, you say a 16" Huion or XP-Pen is portable? My only gripe with the S-Penabled Samsungs is still the lack of software compared to what iPad users have available. Clip Studio and Krita are fine but there are still more options for iPad owners.
Well, it's 14.9" not 13, but I agree that it's still definitely portable. I carry mine in an Alpaka sling and it's just fine because it's so lightweight and thin.

Can you explain about the palm rejection issue? As far as I know, EMR pen disables touch input when it in range of the screen. I love EMR the best, but undo with touch is pain unlike AES. I'd love to have EMR with touch at the same time, if there any? Thanks for the video 🙂

How can you draw on this tablet when the whitepoint is off? I just got the Tab S10 Ultra today, and the screen calibration is just not what is should be. It's also really oversaturated in HDR. Exactly like it was on my S8 Ultra before switching to an iPad Pro. It's also quite laggy compared to the iPad Pro (I have the M1 version).

Interesting, no more 11", I like that size for traveling. My S9 FE 256Gb is still running fine, no need to upgrade yet, but now that there are only 2 sizes, perhaps we will see a 14" FE version in the future. Now that I'm primarily using Clip Studio Paint for all of my artwork, I could switch to a tablet and have that 14" screen. Not ready to pay €1400 for it yet, yes of course it's more expensive over here.
I'm just annoyed that they didn't do any updates this year making this worth getting if you already have a Galaxy tablet. Of all the things That they could have did, they change the processor to implement more dumb AI features? They should have taken a note out of Apple's book and at least have released a new S-Pen, all of them have little over just 4k pressure sensitivity and still have that annoying rubber tip and it's Palm rejection is still only serviceable at best? Here's to hoping they release something good next year I don't understand why anyone would give up their S8 or S9 for this

If Samsung works on pen up and brings it to the level of procreate, like an Samsung galaxy tab exclusive drawing app like huawei Gopaint, that would put Samsung in the creative side of things with respect to their tablet hardware, right now it's just an apple counter novelty more than anything
at first glance it seems amazing... but(t) for anyone not using it for actual paid work I feel that the $1200 price will be hard to justify seeing as it's roughly equal to a mid range pc with a 13" tablet.
6:12 Mediatek chipsets aren't bad at all people are disappointed cuz this means certain open source apps won't work at all for this tablet example Winlator and few other ones. I hope open source communities start making stuff for Mediatek chips too cuz they are cheaper and powerful
For me, yes, my drawing are usually under 40mb each so it takes a lot of art for me to fill this up. But if you work and store videos or want to load up some games you might want to go bigger.
Watching this after i just got a my new 9FE lol! I don't really need a tablet and only paid 100EUR for a new 9FE so I guess I'll just keep it for some years as i only use it for mails, notes and youtube. The new tablet looks amazing though
@fevad1246 So far I have been using it obsessively all day for everything hahah so it lasts me from 8-9am to 9-10pm. But if I only use it for notes it can last 2 days
4:05 I have a solution to this problem 1. Go to settings and search for Samsung Keyboard settings. 2. Go to "style and layout" part, scrolling a little bit 3. Click in mode and in the "landscape view" part pick "split keyboard" Hope this helps😊

my big problem with all these android/iOS tablets is their pens all frankly are terrible to use for art. Once you get used to a Cushy Wacom/Huion pen there is no going back, feels like drawing with a straw using my tab 7 FE pen without it's big rubber condom.
Another Galaxy Tab that can’t open two Word documents at the same time in a native app and another TH-camr who doesn’t even care to mention how limited Android is for serious work

I used command strips to mount a Huion Keydial to the back of my s9 ultra. Works great in clip studio.
It's more comfortable to use a small gamepad anyway. Like 8bitdo zero 2

PenUp is an app developed by Samsung and it's pre-installed on S tablets and S Ultra phones. It isn't as robust as Krita, CSP, Medibang...

why are you guys are hesistated by mediatek? it's actually better in multi core and Ai processing which is what S10 is about(galaxy ai)

Samsung also released the Galaxy Book Pro 5 360 not even a year after the Book 4. Wished they'd put dedicated graphics already

Hey Brad, the Pen Up app does have hand gestures. You just have to enable them in the settings. For some reason they are off by default.

Pen up has the gestures actually.. they're disabled by default but you can enable them by going into the app's settings
Why don't you don't test the second screen feature when connecting with a laptop and test CSP, does it smooth or work well?

mediatek is like in middle of exynos and snapdragon. Not terrible but not snapdragon killer and you will be fine

As far as I know, EMR pen disables touch input when it in range of the screen.
I love EMR the best, but undo with touch is pain unlike AES.
I'd love to have EMR with touch at the same time, if there any?

For the S8, nope. Stay there you've got several more years in that and you probably wouldn't notice much difference.

How can you draw on this tablet when the whitepoint is off? I just got the Tab S10 Ultra today, and the screen calibration is just not what is should be. It's also really oversaturated in HDR. Exactly like it was on my S8 Ultra before switching to an iPad Pro. It's also quite laggy compared to the iPad Pro (I have the M1 version).
would this tablet paired with super display compare to a tablet like the xp pen 16 pro (2nd gen)? do you think it's screen tablet feature is as good/comparable to an actual screen tablet?

Interesting, no more 11", I like that size for traveling. My S9 FE 256Gb is still running fine, no need to upgrade yet, but now that there are only 2 sizes, perhaps we will see a 14" FE version in the future. Now that I'm primarily using Clip Studio Paint for all of my artwork, I could switch to a tablet and have that 14" screen. Not ready to pay €1400 for it yet, yes of course it's more expensive over here.
I'm just annoyed that they didn't do any updates this year making this worth getting if you already have a Galaxy tablet. Of all the things That they could have did, they change the processor to implement more dumb AI features? They should have taken a note out of Apple's book and at least have released a new S-Pen, all of them have little over just 4k pressure sensitivity and still have that annoying rubber tip and it's Palm rejection is still only serviceable at best? Here's to hoping they release something good next year I don't understand why anyone would give up their S8 or S9 for this
I disagree. 7 years of updates means many more features for much longer, and the antireflective screen is a big deal (try put a matte screen protector on it and it will ruin the quality of the screen, I have tried several on my S8 ultra), something the iPad has been better at for years. I still won't upgrade, but this is a bigger improvement than from S8 to S9 ultra
If they use a wacom powered pen, would a wacom pen work on it? I have a Wacom One (2019/Gen 1) pen. Would that work? Would it be better?

If Samsung works on pen up and brings it to the level of procreate, like an Samsung galaxy tab exclusive drawing app like huawei Gopaint, that would put Samsung in the creative side of things with respect to their tablet hardware, right now it's just an apple counter novelty more than anything

Funny thing is I run my art business on an ipad air and draw my art on Samsung tabs8 ultra and Samsung 4 360 pro. EMR pens are the best!
at first glance it seems amazing... but(t) for anyone not using it for actual paid work I feel that the $1200 price will be hard to justify seeing as it's roughly equal to a mid range pc with a 13" tablet.
6:12 Mediatek chipsets aren't bad at all people are disappointed cuz this means certain open source apps won't work at all for this tablet example Winlator and few other ones. I hope open source communities start making stuff for Mediatek chips too cuz they are cheaper and powerful

For me, yes, my drawing are usually under 40mb each so it takes a lot of art for me to fill this up. But if you work and store videos or want to load up some games you might want to go bigger.

1. Go to settings and search for Samsung Keyboard settings.
2. Go to "style and layout" part, scrolling a little bit
3. Click in mode and in the "landscape view" part pick "split keyboard"

my big problem with all these android/iOS tablets is their pens all frankly are terrible to use for art. Once you get used to a Cushy Wacom/Huion pen there is no going back, feels like drawing with a straw using my tab 7 FE pen without it's big rubber condom.
