I just saw him live and this is the realest experience. He did an entire new show and it was absolutely genius. I was stunned how brilliant it was. It hurt me how many people in the theater didn’t realize and how the jokes went over their heads. He’s truly a comedians comic. Insanely funny. A master at work.
My friend's kids introduced us to his comedy in '96. My whole family and theirs listened to that whole hour something routine until we had memorized every word. To this day my family will still recite parts of it depending on the conversation. Every time my daughter leave the house, we do the whole "Take Luck" routine as she's walking out the door and all to way to her car. "Sure to see her again" I say from the house as she pulls out of the driveway
Regan is one of my all time favorite comedians. This is a brilliant example of how a comic sits on an idea for a while discovering over time how one joke relevant to the idea opens doors for other nested jokes. By the time the different avenues have percolated, he then pieces them together in a seamless tapestry for a 5 minute segment. We see the end result, but man I’d love to see his notepad.
So many people put Carlin on a pedestal but when I hear him on the radio, I've never heard a more miserable person complaining more about everything than anyone I've ever known. Gripe comedy isn't really my thing.
I cant compare one comedian to another, each style is radically different, but I agree with most of the comments made to this post. Brian Regan is exceptional and underrated, and to quote Forrest Gump; "that's all I have to say about that".

I watched that bit for the first time within an hour of coming home from the hospital from a major abdominal surgery. I was laughing so hard I was crying and it was really painful. I had to lay down on my side so I could laugh and not hurt . I Walked on the Moon is one of the best comedy shows I've ever seen.

Saw him live in East Texas 8 years ago. I kept falling out of my seat laughing. His best joke of all time is about the guy on every TV show that just meets a woman and asks her out. He says, "I'll pick you up at 8". But Brian Regan says how does the guy know where the woman lives? So he pretends like he's the woman trying to give the guy directions. Like the most complicated long directions. It's hilarious! He's so brilliant and doesn't have to be dirty to be funny. A true legend in comedy! Sorry such a long post.
@haut_strange, yeah, I would imagine that puts you right there with everyone else who has ever been medically diagnosed with any disorder. Guessing not too many folks saying, "the doc just said I have this disorder, it's great!". I'd bet even Brian agrees with you (even if he really only has OCPD). He didn't make it sound like he was enjoying it.
This was really good. Not only did he make a very funny and clever bit, he also acknowledged that OCD is misunderstood and misrepresented and actually portrayed it more accurately, and comically, which for someone with OCD is very refreshing.

The whole book organizing bit #1 I think is just funny, but also shows, albeit in a comedic manner, the complexity of different sufferers' rituals. It's a very individual thing. Again, on the survey part, he mentions "nagging feeling" after answering the question. Whether it be checking back on an answer or rereading a paragraph over and over again fearing you missed something, or just making sure the door is closed time and time again, I feel that is very relatable. Again though, it is a comedy bit!

I can see what you're saying and again I think the most offensive part to me was how he mocked the term "suffer from OCD" and how physical pain trumps all when it fact I'm sure you and my fiance would prefer physical pain to the pain and agony of a mental illness 24/7. I think that opener just turned me off to this bit as I take it personally to defend anyone with OCD because great suffering does occur. I am glad he pointed out some truths of OCD and hopefully it will encourage some to really research OCD and find out how real and debilitating it can be for those suffering from it. Maybe it'll spark some compassion.

The level of genius in Brian Regan's work has grown tremendously over the years. His comedy is original and ingenious
He plays dumb but comedians never are. Kevin hart warns people mouthing at him that they don't want to do this and he will win.
