Prime numbers are important in number theory because every positive whole number is uniquely defined by its prime factors (this is so important that it’s called the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic). In computer science they’re important because it is “easy” to multiply two big prime numbers together, but it’s “hard” to take that product and work out what the prime factors are, and this forms the basis of one of the main kinds of encryption used on the internet.
About the whole prime number discussion, we know that Zimone is gonna be in this set and she's from the Quandrix school in Strixhaven, which is all about math... No clue what the card will do, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be related to her 😁
"At the beginning of each end step, if an opponent lost an amount of life equal to a prime number, or if you've gained an amount of life equal to a prime number, create a 1/1 red Balloon token" or "At the beginning of your upkeep, if the number of lands you control is prime, draw a card."
Prime numbers and references to doors and rooms feels like it could be a reference to the film Cube. The fact that they felt they needed to list prime numbers up to 41 also makes me wonder if it has to do with life totals, like a pumped up Triskaidekaphobia effect maybe.
The Tamiyo Planeswalker Text is for Nashi, who is her adopted Child and is supposed to be on Duskmourne. We aren't getting a Tamiyo card in a standard set..unless Liliana goes to Kamigawa and raises her from the Dead.
Saga's sacrifice when their lore counters are >= their chapters. Urza's Saga typically dies when it loses it's chapter abilities without losing it's "Saga" type. This scneario was the reverse, you wouldn't have to sac because it would become a Saga with 0 counters. You can only get a lore counter on it by changing the land into a saga before your first main phase.
One guy REALLY wants Seth to read his completely out of nowhere theory on what the prime number card will be. He posts it like five times so far in the video...
Isn’t the whole point of *Modern* Horizons that the cards are designed FOR MODERN??? Why are they designing cards for commander in that set in the first place?
Also, the frame thing the blogatog was talking about was probably in reference to the bordering. Theres already material stating that the borders will be somewhat like unsets also with the planeswalker symbol being removed its a new way of determining what is tournament legal and what isnt in sets to come. (This is 100% probably maybe possible enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win false) but i did hear something like this floating around. 22:53
@@midnalight6419 Flavor alone is not a reason to do a fundamental change but a card being to good could be a reason. Especially with a card like The one ring; a card that wizard’s will be very hesitant to outright ban due to it’s ”legendary status” in pop culture + possible rights contract details etc. They don’t NEED to do a fundamental change for the entire format. They COULD treat The one ring as the oddity it is. If the card is too good it doesn’t have to go, it could be restricted.
Hey Seth, about the streaming thing you can actually have them set up at the same time. I know that stream labs is something where you can input your settings for all your platforms and it allows you to stream on all your platforms at once. As far as overlays I'm unsure if you can have the overlays combined but I'm pretty sure you can have them both separately displayed, like if you have a 2 monitor set up you can have both chats going on your second monitor, not quite the same as things are now but I think it would be super cool to have you can crim steam on both at once
The fable of the mirror breaker copying with shifting woodlands would work to get one goblin, but then it would die at end of turn because it has a lore counter on it but is no longer a saga.
The shifting woodland deck feels like it needs some big creatures in the sideboard, like the big 8 mana toxic trample dino to just have the best creatureland in existance and smack down. 😢 .... I think that might be the better plan than omniscience 😅
In regards to your stream conversation. I know a guy who streams both on TH-cam and Twitch at the same time. He does use apps that combine both chats. It'll use a bot that copies TH-cam into Twitch and a bot that copies Twitch into TH-cam. Then, he just reads one chat. Now, idk if he's a twitch partner/affiliate or whatever. I just know he does it.
The Original Nadu would have been miserable for the Modern format, not just commander. Imagine games with Delighted Halfling into Nadu on turn 2, then the rest of the game is playing against Temur Flash/Wilderness Recc except with Force of Negation backup.
Prime numbers power HTTPS encryption, preventing third parties (like hackers and governments) from reading the messages sent to and from you and the websites you browser.
How can anyone look at the one rings dominance and say " We aren't sure of the effect it will have ok the format". It's nit a healthy card and wizards knows it there is just something shady going on
In regards to Nadia being too powerful for commander in its original form and then they changed it knowing it was going into modern legacy and commander and they only changed it because they were afraid of it being TOO good for commander they shot themselves in the foot in the process. This is why it is a BAD IDEA to design cards and particularly when designing cards trying to make that one card fit for every format because they think the bottom dollar is more important than their player base you get situations like this where some completely busted ended up in a 60 card format where people play competitively because you were trying to make it NOT TOO BUSTED for the non competitive casual player base. Wizards needs to STOP making every card with commander in mind. It’s killing the game on so many levels that they are hurting themselves more so than helping.
Has WotC ever explained why they reserve restriction for only the oldest formats? Why not just restrict cards in Modern? Also, Micheal Majors didn’t go out and take the heat for Nadu. He went out and dumped the heat for Nadu onto Commander. Once again, Commander players have to listen to the Magic community blame Commander for every bad card ever made. Like bad cards weren’t made long before Commander focus design even existed.

I mean they also said Fractal tokens were in the set. Seeing as they've been exclusively Strixhaven so far, gotta assume she does stuff with them

I said the same thing. Clearly being ignored and doesn't stop.
At around 41mins Seth says “I don’t like lesbian arr’s per year”.
It’s crazy WotC chose to change a card designed for modern from *Modern* Horizons because they were scared it would be too strong for edh.
Crazy and yet entirely on brand. And equally on brand that in doing so they made a card that was still too strong for Commander.
Isn’t the whole point of *Modern* Horizons that the cards are designed FOR MODERN??? Why are they designing cards for commander in that set in the first place?
How did none of you read the article you’re complaining about lol

The One Ring needs to be restricted. Not banned. It’s the One Ring, not the four copies of the One Ring.
Restriction is only in vintage, everywhere else it's banned or not.
@@alasanofthis should/could be changed for the one ring.
Flavor is not a reason to make a fundamental change for ban policy.
If the card is too good, it has to go.
Wholly.
Missed opportunity for a line of text:

Yes, there is value to prime numbers, but it gets complicated. They are used in cryptography all the time.
Seth, you need to make more magic history content like the eggs video. Rhystic studies is popular for a reason, and its because the niche is awesome
He makes a living playing magic lol. Why work harder than necessary? Rhystic studies barely makes videos at this point
Why non basic land tutors?
Wotc needs to just grow a pair and restrict the one ring. Card should have said "you can only play one per deck" on it anyways.
