In the end, after the emperor had exhausted all of the tired old man's arguments. As they watched the church of the Lightning Sepulcher burn the old man questioned what made him any different than the tyrants that came before. And The Emperor replied with the most damming argument of all... "The difference is... I know I am right"

@@mocte4015 In the short story "The Last Church" we see the last days of the Unification War of Tera Under the Emperor. The story begins with the emperor visiting the last church on Tera. The Church of the Lightning Sepalcure. He is disguised as a mortal by the name of "Apocalypse". Throughout the story, he discusses religion, faith, and tyranny with the last Priest on Tera. He points to all the death and destruction that religion has caused, and how the belief of being "Right" has led to the death of Billions. The priest in turn debates the merits that faith brings. How it changed him from a bitter violent man into a kind and devout soul and how acts of faith have helped millions of others.
However in the end the Emperor breaks the priest's resolve. Revealing that the thing that inspired him to believe in his god was in fact him. Together they walk out of the Church of the Lightning Sepulcher, Taking one last look at the beauty of the great cathedral... before it is set alight by the Castodies.
The Emperor then reveals to the priest that he intends to go forth on a great crusade across the galaxy. When the priest questions what makes his "Crusade" any better than the ones that religious fanatics had partaken in before. The Emperor Replies "Because... I know I am right" ... The priest chuckles to himself. His faith broken he sees the hypocrisy in the Emperor's words. And so chooses to walk into the flames of the Last Chuch ...

...which isnt a good reason, Babylon 5's writer was atheist and respected religion.

The God Emperor knew the correct time to be worshipped was not yet at hand. Now He has become a god on the Golden Throne, to guide and help humanity and a proper religion has grown to honor him. Praise be to the Golden Throne.

Do you wanna know what happensh with uriah after last church?
He becomes to chaos priest, Neoth allways was right the religions are a cancer (in 40k context)
Not necessarily in this case because uriah killed himself in the fire that destroyed the church but not shortly before that he told the emperor that secular rules on religion with his plans and how they would lead the new found imperium to ruin, and made a good argument about the good of religion brings. But in the end Uriah got the last laugh because everything he foretold about the emperors vision of removing religion came true.
