I am five years into owning a 2018 SRT 392. It's been perfect, and it still makes me smile. You road test guys never talk about the amazing features Dodge put into this car. Things like Brembo brakes all the way around, 6 piston calipers in the front, 4 pistons in the rear, two piece slotted front rotors, slotted rear rotors, air ducts to the front brakes (all yielding fantastic stopping power with almost zero nose dive), aluminum hood (yes, aluminum hood), Bilstein gas shocks, IRS front and rear (suspension based on the Mercedes E-Class), limited slip, stainless steel shorty headers on the engine, multi-mode exhaust (not an extra cost option). The ZF eight speed gear box is fabulous, every shift crisp, and it never leaves you in the wrong gear while slowing for a curve or while cornering. And corners - - - it corners perfectly flat. The paddle shifters function almost as quickly as a dual clutch automatic. Not a single fake air scoop. I could rave on. I don't have a problem with Zack and I think he gets more flak than deserved, but this video was hard to watch. The passenger was definitely not interested in what was going on so i'm sure it was hard for Zack to even engage him in the lack of conversation. Would of been better if Zack went solo and just talked about the car.
"...when a car is predictable I just feel safer in it and it's just more enjoyable to drive when it got the right way bounce". This is exactly WHY all those "sport cars tests" are useless for most of us the "above average entusiast driver" because they always emphasize too much on the sport dimension as being "how much the car is trying to kill you when you push it". For a lot of us car enjoyment is not about spending our times going sideways burning pricey rubber or trying to control withoput crashing a car dangerous behaviour... That's why all those over-powered rear wheel drives and mid-engine snap-spinning cars are so praised by pro testers, and why terrificly predictable and easy cars to drive fast without much danger like the Audi TT-RS/S/RS3 are underapreciated by them and judged "boring". They are not ! I love pushing my cars (why do we have big blocks if it's for always driving 7/10?), but I hate sweating to do so when approcahing the limits. The more safer I feel the best it is. I don't have enough money to go on tracks every week and doing a Paul Walker like when I have a family to take care of...no sorry ;)
Honestly, the dash doesn't really bother me that much. I bought a nice cover for it and it's like I never see it (not to mention having the peace of mind that I'm preserving the material from UV exposure).
good job being safe around bikes/traffic. Zack mentioned the shift points too soon and I think that is to satisfy EPA. the solution is shift manually. you have two options with stick and paddles. Scat Packs have 3.09 rear end, does the SRT have that? Ü
woofer devlin Modern Mopars will shift differently for different drivers. They learn the driver’s behavior and adjust to it. There’s actually a fuse you can pull, every few days, if you get annoyed with the car doing it. With that said, it’s an 8 speed transmission, mounted to a heavy sedan. It’s geared to make launching the heavy vehicle quick and to have good passing power. But it’s not geared for canyon carving. Still... If Zach drove it for a week and the car learned his behavior -and he shifted manually, from time to time-, the car might shift more to his liking.
great info, thanks. I drive 90% manual and when I do auto, it bogs due to early shift. this is due to mileage regulations by EPA. RPMs = fuel consumption, builders counter that with early shifts. to beat the bog and the regulations, shift manually. from someone who has driven semis, articulated transit bus, and '73 Chrysler Town and Country, the Charger is not too heavy to have a blast in the twisties. when entering a curve, flick the paddle down shift and the rev match happens automatically. keep rpms 3500-4000 and your at peak power curve coming out. bog makes the car feel heavier. so keep the rpms up and the car feels lighter, more tossable, and nimble on its feet. Ü woof
That Eddie Hall reference was a real streeeetch. Stick to the car Zack... but I'm sure you know this already... learning curve - Matt was cringey back in the beginning... and I would be much much much worse lol
Honestly if Zach was a foot taller, weighed a hundred pounds more, was named Matt and didn’t constantly sound like an annoyed sarcastic asshole, I would like him a lot more
Man Zack is so hard to watch he’s so bad at this, he’s boring as hell and he talks with no enthusiasm, and he doesn’t drive fast or confident, we need Matt back.
Why compare the handling of a Charger SRT 392 to a Challenger Hellcat? Apples-to-apples would be a Challenger SRT 392 to a Charger SRT 392. By the way, the challengers weighs less - isn't it safe to assume that the Challenger handles a little bit better being a slightly smaller car and lighter car? And he said it himself, there's only a 1% difference in the weight distribution.
Good review by Zack. There's a lot of haters here, but I appreciate the low-key review that doesn't make it sound like your puffed up opinion is the only opinion to rule the land (ahem). Also, thanks for driving considerately/safely around the cyclists! Not all driving enthusiasts have to drive like a-holes...
Too low in 3rd? That's funny, with 6.4L you're never too low. Why keep making excuses? It's a good car with a whole engine (not half 4 cyl) which is rare now
How’s the fuel consumption on one of these? I doubt most concern themselves with that but if I do get one of these I’ll need a ballpark figure since I put about 35k a year on my car lol
This car is still using the Mercedes E class chassis from the 90’s. its literally a cheap amg. This video is so awkward because the car is not a canyon carver so it’s not exciting to drive on a curvy road they look like two cops on patrol. Also the owner hasn’t modded the car much so there isn’t anything good to talk about. He bought a fast car that’s good in a straight line that’s basically it. I don’t know why they bothered to review this car on this road.

I don't have a problem with Zack and I think he gets more flak than deserved, but this video was hard to watch. The passenger was definitely not interested in what was going on so i'm sure it was hard for Zack to even engage him in the lack of conversation. Would of been better if Zack went solo and just talked about the car.
This was one dead-buried-down-the-cemetery review ever! "uuuuuuuhhhhh......yeeeeeeeeeaaahhhhh, heeeeeeavyyyyyyyyy, ...." etc etc.....
That road has no weird bumps.
looks like a "Brad" type of car....maybe even Chad, Thad, or Kyle
This would make a great winter daily!
Even though I like the dude hosting, I couldn't help but to wonder how he is at wine tasting events.
Ü woof
If that's a socal only car, ditch those all seasons and get a UHP summer
What a BOAT. A real Charger has two doors!
Thanks Zack. I appreciate your work.
Make one take great again! Bring Matt back.
That's not a discount AMG, it's a discount Hellcat. That being said, I would take that SRT 392 over my Hyundia Azera any day.
Devon Akpom charger 392 still using W210 Mercedes chassis from the 90’s. It’s a discount Amg.
That Eddie Hall reference was a real streeeetch. Stick to the car Zack... but I'm sure you know this already... learning curve - Matt was cringey back in the beginning... and I would be much much much worse lol
This passengers voice makes me wish the driver had an eject button..
I’m in the market and they are not cheap...I found a few used ones with low miles and they run around 40,000
My dad's friend's daughter has a Dodge Challenge...
Honestly if Zach was a foot taller, weighed a hundred pounds more, was named Matt and didn’t constantly sound like an annoyed sarcastic asshole, I would like him a lot more
isn't this the exact brad that would have an automatic charger
you cant say "hey guys real quick before we get to this video" every time zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Pretty sure if you hold the esp button for 5 seconds all traction and stability control comes off.
Thank you for donating to the fire efforts!
Oh man this video was horrible!!! In clicked because I love the car . Man these two together is better than nightquil!
Good review by Zack. There's a lot of haters here, but I appreciate the low-key review that doesn't make it sound like your puffed up opinion is the only opinion to rule the land (ahem). Also, thanks for driving considerately/safely around the cyclists! Not all driving enthusiasts have to drive like a-holes...
matt please come back 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Brad/B-rad...the type of dude that shakes your hand like a girl.
Is the "Charge" the new Tesla? Asking for a friend.
Tell me about the SVT Contour in the background ! Cool "old" car - nearly forgotten ...
What SRT Driving School? The Bondurant Driving school went bankrupt and closed its doors.
4 mins in , and Cant take it anymore. Thank you utube for suggesting a waste of my time.
Zack and his weird fucking analogies
And Chrysler continues building these while GM and Ford stop making cars. Well done Dodge
Hey there keeping sport sedans alive. That's awesome In my book, cause honestly there dying out.
This video was fkn awkward man. I feel bad for the owner, im surprised he didnt kick that AMG lover out his fkn car.
U spent the first minute begging for money and still misspelled the title
The passenger looks like Paul Walker
from a fun factor standpoint only, is it this or a hellcat?
As far as handling goes, which one is better the Lexus GSF or 392?
Lexus most likely
should i buy a charger srt 392 orrrrr a jeep grand cherokee srt?? HELP
these sound woderful with some good long tube headers.
someone has to manual swap this man
Chassis derived from the W124. Mercedes best chassis ever!!
