Thanks for using our knives lads, entertaining video. Few things tho: Dalstrong knives use 7Cr17MoV high carbon stainless and German steel, which is comparatively hard, sharp, and durable. In comparison, the other knife is made of cheaper, thicker, and lower carbon steel. It might be tougher, but it's not gonna give you the same sharpness and precision as the Dalstrong, and it's not meant to. (It shattered anyway as well). Now, when it comes to cold weather, it messes with the properties of steel. The high carbon steel in the Dalstrong knives gets a bit more brittle in the freezing cold. It's because of the higher carbon content, which makes the knife hold its edge and stay sharp, but also means it's more likely to break under crazy force like a gunshot. The other knife, made of lower carbon steel, won't break as easily because it's tougher and less hard. But there's a trade-off: it's not gonna be as good at holding a sharp edge, so it's not the best for precise cutting. The other knife by the way is not made in the US, it is designed in Serbia, made in China and sold out of US. Dalstrong is designed in North America, operates in the US and we also have US made (and German, Swedish and Japanese) steel in many of our products.
the only sponsor that looks feels and sounds real. not people talking about headphones they will never use or a vpn that most likely does nothing and costs a subscription. more in person sponsors ! this was great really added to the video
Iv been there and rode the ferries wheel :) good memories. also one of my first driving experiences was around there, when I was using my permit and I had a driving instuctor who had me drive from like mt rose to over there in sparks and take the double round-about XD I didnt know what I was doing good thing he grabed the wheel as I crossed into the other lane lol. but why would you take someone there on there first time driving XD
It’s not often that I don’t skip the sponsor portion of a video but I actually enjoyed it. Being in the mid west I’ve never heard of Scheels but this make me want plan a trip to the nearest location. this is how you do a sponsored portion. Good job guys.
Scheels is what Cabela's used to be back in their heyday before they were bought out by Bass Pro Shop. Scheels gun selection is good but I wish they had a selection of milsurp, that would make it even better.
LOLOLOLOLOLL SO EPIC YOUR REACTION IN THE GUN SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOTH OF YOU WERE LIKE YOU WERE IN SANTAS GUNSHOP!!!!! I AM TOTALLY LAUGHING AT HOW BLOWN AWAY YOU ARE!
I used to go to that store all the time. I knew you filmed in Northern Nevada. I recognized those hills from the moment I first started watching your videos.
COLD weather, very brittle, but they're all the same temp. The one you liked at the end, is the best all together knife. If you just had that stuck in the woods, it is versatile , can even use it as a hammer or cook on it, but meat can be kabob over fire. Yeah, illegal in the city, quite useful in the sticks. The store is exactly the same as Cabela's, in Dundee Mi. It's so huge, there wasn't a Farris Wheel in it, but was big enough for one, it's probably all the silly state code they always run into. but It had a long tunnel fish tank.
I recommend watching the Scheels video at the end. Amazing store. The closest one to me is three hours away, but I will certainly be ordering online from them.
You need to get an armor sponsor for a ricochet shield! Ricochets are no joke. My buddy took a ricochet to the leg a few range trips ago and had to get the fragments removed. Someone else hit the bottom of a target stand :-/
A harder steel will shatter and its also a better quality so they don't need to be as thick. I also watched an old episode of crazy Russian hacker with you on it he was doing liquid nitrogen.
OMG - my daily dose of Scientific Experimentation plus a visit to "Scheels Heaven on Earth" ❤. Living in Australia, we can only dream of visiting a store like that.
Great video, but as myself is very safe with rifles I would have put targets closer to the mountains as better backstop but that’s just me as I would not want to shoot some lost rambler
You see the problem with shooting knives is most knives are tempered heat treated, and the heat treat process makes him very brittle to hold a hard edge. That explains why they were breaking, but very good video Edwin.
The entire knife shouldnt be hardened. The edge should be. Also the steel types will natively be different hardnesses... so the chinese might be a cheap stainless just hardened, all of it, making it a quicker job. The thicker one might be carbon steel and only edge hardened.... too many variables going on here without more info. its just a fun video :)
@@jameswick8358 I skipped some words, they were breaking because the entire knife was hardened and or a different steel type and entirely hardened. Where as the one knife might have been carbon steel and only edge hardened. Either way, fun video.
Steel is steel, the only thing that matters is its grade, (alloy qualities) and tempering. The fact a blade it is japanese doesn't make it good, Price range is the only limiting factor on a good blade. And if you're referring to how japs fold the steel, just know that they do that to remove impurities and even out inconsistencies in the metal. It is a method that increases the quality of poor quality steel, from a time when japan's smelting technics lagged behind other parts of the world. Genius yes, but won't do anything to modern foundry steel, or even a lot of the high end steels used in medieval Europe.

I love how you specifically say North America instead of US leading me to believe it's Mexican.
@@SunnyDementia Designed in Toronto, Canada and Tampa, FL, nothing to do with Mexico
My husband (he's from toronto) gave me a Dalstrong Hori Hori knife as a gift. It is the best blade I have ever used.
I would have loved close-up's of these shatters! That looked amazing!
and SloMo as well

Sauf le 50 bmg 😂
Split a tracer round.
I want to see a triple split…..
Talfledermaus did it!!
Bro have you seen his aim!? Video would be about 2 hours long 🤣
I really enjoy watching you two guys, Thank you.
Shatter = good, it can not get dull because of bending, it is not soft. Just don't drop in on ceramic floor.
I love the china joke, shout out here from the Philippine Islands!!
I really enjoyed the long walk through the store! Thanks for keeping it in and not editing it down! :)
15:34 While Edwin was climbing into the Jeep, I hear "What grade are you in?" lol!
I've purchased from Scheels online but I had no idea that their stores were so big.
Love the China remarks! 🤣 I'm in 100% agreement.
Wow, never heard of Scheels. They look like the new Cabelas. Nice!!
Edwin invokes true American spirit
Erwin ,been shopping at Scheels store and on line for 25+ yrs !! Like will match any price on exact same item cheaper anywhere else !! Guaranteed !!
Oh man Scheels!!! That is my favorite place to visit when we go up to Reno. It's right next door in Sparks and so many restaurants too.
Edwin needs to collect all the scrap steel he generates and go to the scrap yard to get some beer money.
It’s not often that I don’t skip the sponsor portion of a video but I actually enjoyed it. Being in the mid west I’ve never heard of Scheels but this make me want plan a trip to the nearest location.

Same here, I wish more people would promote their sponsors this way when possible, it makes it feel less like an ad and is actually interesting
Scheels is what Cabela's used to be back in their heyday before they were bought out by Bass Pro Shop. Scheels gun selection is good but I wish they had a selection of milsurp, that would make it even better.
Great video! I love Scheels bought many nice guns and accessories there, including the new SFAR.
Nice knives....😎 You Two are just plain Awesome 😎
Best sponsor ad ever, one of the few I haven't skipped through...

You're right!! They shouldn't! New top favorite channel.

Scheels is the schit! Loved going there when I lived in SD.

That Scheels store looked AMAZING… you guys are so lucky over the pond, I’m VERY jealous!!! 😢
that sponsor video is golden, literally just the boys having fun lmao
I recommend watching the Scheels video at the end. Amazing store. The closest one to me is three hours away, but I will certainly be ordering online from them.

That's like the Cabelas store on the East coast.
Those are some pristine quality blades, Absolutely amazing
Sheel's looks awesome. I'm gonna go check that place out. Idc how far it is.
This is why we love The Science Channel!
Cool video. Sure wish there a was a Scheels in TN, very cool store.

Hey Edwin, where's the knife brand in the description?
Great content Edwin keep it up
You guys are hilarious. I’m gonna watch the video after.
Magnifique boutique 😍

I still have a ricochet in my foot from a .40cal was wearing "Combat Flip Flops", ✔ them out... This was 3+ years ago.
Your buddy used to be an adventurer like them
I wish Scheels would open a store east of Atlanta, we need a good outdoors store here.
A harder steel will shatter and its also a better quality so they don't need to be as thick. I also watched an old episode of crazy Russian hacker with you on it he was doing liquid nitrogen.
They are opening a Scheels near me this month. I will check it out.
Great video!
That is Scheels? They are building one in Chandler, AZ right now. I can't wait to see all those guns!
That promo at the end looks and sounds like it’s from the late 90s. Great video also.
Scheels reminds me of Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops we have in Texas.
Should ALWAYS buy American 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
You’re in the big time now!!
I love Scheels. We have one 30 minutes away and we go all the time
OMG - my daily dose of Scientific Experimentation plus a visit to "Scheels Heaven on Earth" ❤. Living in Australia, we can only dream of visiting a store like that.
Amazing video as always guys!!! Hi from France 💀👍
Scheels sure got some bang for the buck. 4 times longer than agreed upon.
That lever action rifle is awesome.
Great video, but as myself is very safe with rifles I would have put targets closer to the mountains as better backstop but that’s just me as I would not want to shoot some lost rambler
What’s the knife??
"Are Chopping Cleavers Bulletproof?"
A crucial question! hahahahahha
The cleaver that survived last was from Coolina.
That store is amazing
awesome time as usual guys
don't support china they're sending balloons here that line is osm🤣🤣love from india ❤
Tour was Great!
Crazy big store. Never heard of them!!
Yes you guys provide some science but the entertainment is priceless.
Scheel’s is Awesome!
never heard of scheels store. im in canada so i doubt we have any. but damn that store - mall looked nice
China is sending balloons 😂😂😂
that is a crazy shop they have more in one shop then al our shops all over New Zealand have combined
Good video love u❤❤❤❤
Cutting tools require a hard & brittle metal for the sharpest edges. A drill bit will work, but not by shooting it out of a hi-powered rifle! :)
Amazing shop
Oh sh*t, that's my local Sheels! Like your video

Idk how cold the metal was but that could be a factor. All are most likely hardened steel. Cool video. Take care Edwin and Jaspareeee.
Hey Edwin, where's the link for that awesome cleaver/knife?!
your shooting in the cold too, that makes metal much mmore brittle
Poderia fazer esses testes com marcas diferentes e países também
Very clever video idea
My kind of Store 😊👍"Scheels"👍👍
Just so that I don't forget the Kid in me 😁😁😉🤙
What brand are each of those i wouldn't mind picking them up, love your channel you guys.
please try japanies and italian cleavers they are realy tough .
That's my store! Awesome!
"Don't buy from chi nah! They're sending balloons over here! 😂😂
Coolina knives are ba in the kitchen, at camp etc etc. Holds its edge very very well!
The store is great, but unfortunately, as I am living in Germany, I can't buy any shotguns in their online shop.
Straight up don’t follow us 😂😂😂 I love it
You need to do a Japanese steel knife aswell . The method they use is beyond any other
