    I paid $40 for the newest mode. My luggage was tracked from Atlanta to LAX, to Singapore. One bag got left behind at Changi Airport, but the airline was faster and alerted me that my bag was delayed. Still, I'm glad I bought them.

      Wow! It's a bummer that your luggage got separated (hope you got it back)! But having to track it's transit with the Smarttag is an extra layer of comfort - especially how the airline handles it, well worth the $40 I'd say! Thanks for watching!

      @s.wvazim6517 hard to say. I'd say it would work intermittently in transit due to the fact its shipped and probably secured in metal container? Other than that, once on land it should be fine to track since the bt signal and population of galaxy phones nearby would be greater. Cheers!

      Good price if that's the Galaxy smart tag+ or the Galaxy smart tag 2. The basic one is a waste of space unless you're only wanting to use it near your phone (BT only), hence why the battery lasts longer. Hopefully the version 2 will improve that somehow. × my legs, eyes and digits!

    Thx. for the video. Can you clarify the following please?
    * if you put this device in a hard shelled baggage does the signals still work?
    * if you are travelling with this to another country, do we need to have their SIM card installed in the phone or have an international plan for it to work there?
    I always have a hard time locating my bags while travelling (especially coming from the conveyer belts). This is especially true when travelling in developing countries where all the baggages are piled up in a spot and you have a hard time to locate yours.

    • @squishyhammer
      @squishyhammer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The device will still emit signals kept inside regular luggage. You will only need an internet connection to view the device status / location in the SmartThings app. When you arrive at the destination airport they may just have free Wifi you could use, or you can rely on the App's bluetooth range finder temporarily if you have no internet available (the luggage will have to be within a certain range). The bluetooth range finder will help you pinpoint where the device is.

    My mom got a couple for free when she bought her Samsung phone but she just left it in a drawer sealed for over a year till I came across it when cleaning the house.
    Been using it for a couple of months and I like that I can use it as keychains.
    My biggest gripe with the tags is I can't use or register them on my non Samsung phone! The app refuses to let me access the tags even after registering them on my Samsung Tab S8. So if I'm outdoors and need to check the tags, I would have to have my tab with me AND internet connection for the tablet.

    I'm new to the Smart Tag and have a question. How do you either turn off or conserve the Smart Tag battery? Thanks

    • @squishyhammer
      @squishyhammer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The SmartTag uses really low power bluetooth to conserve battery power even when on, however, a direct answer to your question would be just to remove the battery. This will allow your tag and phone to still be paired to your account when you insert it back in. It may also "notify you if left behind", in which case, you can easily turn off in SmartThings - App, Find, Select Device, More, Switch off notify.
      There isn't an easy button unfortunately due to the nature of the design. You can try removing the tag from your account and going as far as resetting to factory as I detailed in my other video: th-cam.com/video/p0ZC0Lz1k1U/w-d-xo.html but just removing the battery I feel is best solution. Cheers!

  • @Zommee
    @Zommee ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you tell me honestly what is the difference between the Regular Smart Tag vs. The Smart Tag+?
    When I Google the Smart Tag+ it says it has "Bluetooth capabilities" and states it can reach 130 yards from your Galaxy phone.
    And, that brings me to my next question, if the first model is the one you recommend (or either....really)
    How can anything be found (especially beyond 130 yards with the Tag+) when the item may be way too far away from your phone?
    Like example: trying to find lost luggage - after flying on an airplane? (or did I misunderstand?)
    I guess I'm wondering if I put one of these tags on my cats and they wander off?
    Or have one kitty stolen & driven 5 miles from home & kitty free's herself & gets away - her collar was left behind at the place they were at - 2 years later a person found her collar & called me wanting to return it, not sure she was alive or not, but felt either way I would want her collar back. That's how I knew how far she was taken - (this happened a few years back - luckily my kitty found her way back home, it took her 3 weeks, but thank God she made it!🙏🏻💖)
    But, will I be able to see the location? And, not just items in my home (or 130 yards away w/the Tag+)?
    Thank you for your time & the Great video!
    God bless!
    ~Sarah

    • @squishyhammer
      @squishyhammer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sarah! Thanks for watching! Yes basically the "plus" includes a tech called UltraWide Band similar to Bluetooth but a slight improvement in terms of range. However it does use up more battery and your phone must have a UWB chip to utilize it. Also the tech does allow you to use augmented reality on the app to locate your phone more visually. I myself, aside for the range, would prefer the battery life and simplicity so I choose the non-plus.
      Oh wow thats a story! So glad she returned safe!! A smarttag would have definitely helped in this case - as the smarttag works by being "pinged" by all OTHER Galaxy phones - not just your own. So it works like a wide detection net and your smarttag would be the beacon.
      And since you'd register that unique smarttag ID to your Samsung account, once detected, any nearby galaxy phone will upload the general location of where they both were located and show you directly on your app - so you generally would get the area where it was last seen by any nearby Galaxy phone in the world. That's basically how it works in a nutshell 😄
