Good information, but yeah I'm curious where you hid yours. I've got two hidden, one's inside the battery casing and the other under the seat. However, I guess I have to do something about the speaker.

I did this to mine and you can still hear a very quiet beeping sound. It’s not as loud as it is with the speaker. Does anyone know how to remove the sound completely?

Interesting, I’ve done this to a few and have not had that happen yet. Mine are completely silent.

Same happened to mine it’s almost like a second speaker but super quiet but loud enough you could hear it.

This won’t work anymore. Apple has a precise finding feature now if you have an iPhone 11 or newer even if the speaker is removed someone can locate the AirTag and take out the battery, look at getting an EUFY tracker, it works just like the Apple AirTag, but does not have the precise finding feature, with some slight modification, you can take the speaker out, and this will be a completely silent tracker with no precise fighting feature, and it works just like the AirTag on the AirTag network

We will have to look into an EUFY tracker. Thanks for the tip. As for the precise finding feature, as of last week, in our testing the precise finding function has only worked for the owner. We’ve been testing them pretty extensively with different phones, people, places and times. So far, with any phone we have tried, precise finding isn’t an option unless it is the phone that activated the tag. All other phones we have tested, even iPhone 11 and newer, can only see the map in which the device has traveled with us, and is given the option to play a sound.

@@VoltVlog That is interesting, Apple did release the precise finding feature for an anti-stocking feature and it’s listed on Apple’s website. When I read this, I was really bummed because I thought that the AirTags were going to be a perfect way device to hide in my car if it ever got stolen. I was able to set up an AirTag to another iPhone with a different iCloud account and then I walked around with the AirTag in my pocket and I got a notification that an AirTag was stocking me. I had removed the speaker from the AirTag but I was able to see the precise finding option on the iPhone that was not registered to that AirTag

Wow, so far we have not been able to do that. We have not been given the option to use precision finding in any of our scans and notifications. We are still testing them out, so this is another layer to look into. Maybe some firmware updates are in order on our end. Hmmm.

@@VoltVlogMy find my iPhone app on my iPhone 13 has an “Identify Found Item” feature. It’s designed where you found someone else’s air tag, you can hold your phone over it to see if the owner left a message. Thus, it appears all a thief needs to do is move their phone around a bike, car, etc and it would tell them if there’s an air tag there. I haven’t tested it yet with someone else’s iPhone but I will. Also, I’m not sure how close you would need to have your phone to the air tag.

Haha! Okay, okay, I'll tell you. But don't tell anyone else. It's located on the bike.

Insurance doesn’t get my bike back. Not to be all Pee Wee Herman on this one, but my bike is not like other bikes. It’s special.
