Hey so Idk if you guys picked up on this or if it was intentional, but [SPOILERS] When Bill has his solo confrontation with Georgie and his child self in the flooded basement, I think one of the things Georgie initially says is "I'm sorry, Bill, I lost your boat. Please don't me mad at me." And Bill assures him it's ok. And then later when Eddie has his breakdown at Niebolt house and says he was scared, he ALSO says "I'm sorry, Bill, please don't be mad at me." And I thought that was why Bill was so quick to drop his anger cuz that memory snapped him out of it. That could just be un-intentional phrasing on the part of the writers but I found it very interesting.

The Stanley letter Is different for every loser, like Richie letter said "be proud, be you" Stanley and Richie are the best friends in the book so maybe Stanley knew about Richie's little secret
Footage for an appearance of Maturin was shot, but was cut. After defeating his scenario created by It, Bill swims underwater alongside a giant sea turtle. He briefly sees the first quarry scene in Chapter 1 from underneath the water before returning to the cave.
I think the reason that they kept the scene with Bev and he husband was juxtaposed to Eddie because they both basically married people who are or resemble their parents.
Pennywise: I'M THE EATER OF WORLDS! My head: He's got the whole world....in his hands, he's got the whole wide world...in his hands he's a got the whole world in his hands.

@@Zalgo1408 IKR?! It's so strange to me that what seems like 90% of people or more can't *bear* to even see or hear of the tiniest detail in a film they haven't yet viewed. It's very intriguing.
That Guy agreed. The first ones a lot better, but I consider it a masterpiece. Honestly though part 2 is a really good movie and I felt way more emotionally invested in the characters this time around. But I think I'd be more likely to pop the first one in if I wanted to watch a movie.
I was blown away in the theater by the thing that you thought must be a reference, because there's a part you unfortunately forgot that makes it unmistakable. SPOILERS: When Stan's head turns into the headcrab from The Thing, Ritchie looks right at it and says "You gotta be fucking kidding". Like....it's not even SUBTLE, and I loved it.
I loved that I also love Richie's line when they see the saliva trail from the ceiling and richie looks up see's the stan crab head and just goes "Oh there he is" while making bricks in his pants lol
I think the whole memory issue, is less of The Losers memories being erased, and more of the memories being repressed, not just through trama but some other supernatural means tied to Darry and Pennywise. When Mike calls all the individual Losers their memories start to vaguely return, at first with the memory of the promise and the fear tied to that promise, and from their just becomes a slow drip. Basically their lack of memory is less of a locked room they aren't allowed to access, but more of a hidden one they forgot was even there.
I had similar thoughts. It's amazing what your senses can do to trigger memory as well. Talking to Mike triggered it but once they arrive there's certain sights and smells that would trigger repressed memories. I guess it's kinda ambiguous and can be interpreted by the viewer.
For those confused and curious: The Ritual of Chud is basically a psychic battle that Billy has with Pennywise on a mental plane that's so chaotic that it cracks the dark tower that houses the multiverse. (It's basically a battle of wills between two telepaths).
I believe that too. I was thinking about it but since Henry directly killed Belch and Vic that that’s the reason why it’s Patrick. Plus Patrick is about as fucked up or even more fucked up than Henry
I just got out of watching the movie it was f***ing amazing. If you are reading this and haven't seen it or heard the podcast go watch it. If you sh*t your pants buy a new pair Edit: My adrenaline high has gone down. This movie had a lot against it with a phenomenal first movie, a convoluted plot in the book, and a awful and boring original adaption. I was worried I would not enjoy it but it is my favorite one of the two.
James, if you didn’t notice, the guy speaking at the meeting when Mike calls Ben was actually played by Brandon crane. He was the original kid Ben in the mini-series.
His best works were written under the influence of drugs/alcohol. If people could have control and it not be addictive drugs are good in some instances to help expand your mind. Most great artists wether it's authors, musicians, etc are better while under the influence. That is if the drugs don't kill them bc they over do it. Eminem was certainly better under the influence bc most of his work since sucks.
@@dontdiscriminatehateeveryo9263 I don't think there's a way to "not over do it" because drugs are inherently damaging to the body. I guarantee you there are lasting effects that everyone sees to this day. People's art may be better under the influence, but if that's the price for good art, is it really worth it?
This is one of my go to podcasts when I wanna have something fun playing in the background. Amazing job. I love how this movie is like, "bullying works!"
I'm one of those people who can't watch flashing lights in movies because I have seizures and there is so much flashing in movies now. I appreciate you, James, brining it up.
I just watched this movie before watching this video. I actually preferred this one to chapter 1, but I understand why people would prefer the first one. One thing that I expected to be in the film that wasn't was that in the book, which Chelsea sort of mentioned, at the end the town of Derry is flooded as you see throughout the book that Derry has a large amount of rain fall. Have to acknowledge the little details that they included however. It's my favourite moment in chapter 1 during the opening scene with Georgie. When Pennywise first appears he has bright yellow eyes, but when he moves forward his eyes turn blue. This happens in the book, but in the book it's explained that when IT's eyes turn blue it's the same blue as Bill's and their mother's eyes. Pennywise's eyes turn back to yellow just as he goes to attack Georgie. I love that they included these little nods to the book.
The actor for older Mike really stood our to me,he played his charecter so well and I feel like he was a little better than the others,he acted like the little like so well and he made the movie truly awesome to watch
34:22 That's what I feel about the start with the gay couple: It nevers pay off. Yes, it can be argued that it's a parallel to Richie and Eddie, but if them are going ALSO to end in a tragedy why bother putting a parallel in the first place? At least I wanted those abusers paying for what they did, but they never show up again, there is 0 need for that scene. It's gratuitous. I would love Eddie to live on because, contrary to the miniseries (and the book I'm guessing) he is not only one of the bravest before the final encounter (He CHOKED TO DEATH HIS FEAR, LIKE, NO OTHER CHARACTER DID THAT) but also he now has a life to live; in the miniseries he is deep down in his past (he still lived with his mother) he was also still weak and alone, and that's why his sacrifice made sense even tho it still felt bittersweet (Like Stanley's sacrifice in this movie, actually) he didn't have anything to live for except his friends so his sacrifice for them is validated. In this movie all of that changes; He is brave as fuck (so when later he is show as a coward feels so contradictory) and he had live past his mom (Even tho he is in the same "my partner is my parent" thing with Bev) and now he also (as Bev again) have a life to live: With Richie, who loves him. His death here makes so much less sense, not only bc of what I said, but because he also dies in a way that feels accidental and clumsy??? He didn't have to die if he were more careful, he saved someone and then died, instead of dying while saving someone. It's just dumb and makes the Richie being gay plot and the start of the movie seem just a way to tear up appart the audience using the classic "LGBT tragedy" trope that movies love to use. Maybe I'm biased because I love Eddie and I love his relationship with Richie but... He should have live, man, he EARN it. Liked the movie an all but this made me sooo mad
Nah, you are totally right. Eddie is such a parallel to Adrian, and yes it would have been a huge difference from the source (a lot of things in the movies are, so why not this?) and have Eddie making it somehow, and thereby give us a happy ending to this romance, where Don and Adrian ended in tragedy.
Mike mentions that It has learnt from the last 27 years. When Pennywise kills the girl under the bleachers, he now knows to introduce himself first unlike it did with Georgie. Nice little touch.

Footage for an appearance of Maturin was shot, but was cut.
After defeating his scenario created by It, Bill swims underwater alongside a giant sea turtle. He briefly sees the first quarry scene in Chapter 1 from underneath the water before returning to the cave.
And it has to have James and Chelsea sitting on Maturin’s shell high-fiving. Please.

Well, according to tonight's Kill Count, they're now engaged!!
I think the reason that they kept the scene with Bev and he husband was juxtaposed to Eddie because they both basically married people who are or resemble their parents.

I went to a double session (IT 1 and 2) at the cinema, almost 5 hours non stop and it was so worth it! I loved both of them, and I am so happy they've made this awesome movies out of the awesome book Stephen King wrote (it's one of my favs and even though the movie it's an adaptation and not exactly like the book, for once I didn't care bc it was great).
SPOILERS:
When Stan's head turns into the headcrab from The Thing, Ritchie looks right at it and says "You gotta be fucking kidding".
I was interested to see what their thoughts on “Bob Gray’s” appearance after Beverly escaped Kershes demonic form.
I hadn't thought of that connection till I read your comment. That does make sense for that scene for it to be Bob Gray.
Bob Gray’s fuckin SCARY. I think he freaked me out way more than the Mrs. Kersh monster.

Zombie vic? Its actually zombie patrick. Henry even says “hockstetter?”
Joslin Lopez he corrects himself later in the podcast but yeah I noticed the mishap too
To be fair, in the book it was Vic and Belch. So that might be where the mix up came from.
Caller: Is this Zombie Vic?
Patrick: No, this is Patrick!
Eddie not only married his mother, they're the same actress!
I believe it was Patrick Hockstetter who came to Henry and drove him around. I wish they would’ve had Belch instead since it’s his car
Maybe it's bc It killed Patrick but Henry killed Vic and Belch. It probably has some kind of control over Patrick. Just a theory.
I believe that too. I was thinking about it but since Henry directly killed Belch and Vic that that’s the reason why it’s Patrick. Plus Patrick is about as fucked up or even more fucked up than Henry

Yeah we can tell
Your Friendly F.B.I Agent this made me snort, thank you
I loved this movie! Many cool references and cameos too
Especially that refrence of “the thing”
James, if you didn’t notice, the guy speaking at the meeting when Mike calls Ben was actually played by Brandon crane. He was the original kid Ben in the mini-series.
IT was written during King’s 👃 phase
His best works were written under the influence of drugs/alcohol. If people could have control and it not be addictive drugs are good in some instances to help expand your mind. Most great artists wether it's authors, musicians, etc are better while under the influence. That is if the drugs don't kill them bc they over do it. Eminem was certainly better under the influence bc most of his work since sucks.
don't discriminate hate everyone equally I disagree with the Eminem remark
But I do agree that his stuff hasn’t been as gud
@@dontdiscriminatehateeveryo9263 I don't think there's a way to "not over do it" because drugs are inherently damaging to the body. I guarantee you there are lasting effects that everyone sees to this day. People's art may be better under the influence, but if that's the price for good art, is it really worth it?

"his cop dad, cop friend for killing his cop dad" so many redundancies
Am I the only one who doesn't watch horror movies at the cinemas, instead I wait for James's kill count?
I always found it funny when ppl would hate on the movie for having comedy.
Lol the original series was almost all comedy
It doesn't smell like caca to me señor
Richie Tozier was a stand up comedian in the miniseries as well. He was just performing on a late night talk show.
When Ben and Bev were kissing under water, I really wanted to them to cut to a shot of Richie just sitting there waiting.
The actor for older Mike really stood our to me,he played his charecter so well and I feel like he was a little better than the others,he acted like the little like so well and he made the movie truly awesome to watch
I’m sad the bully’s in the beginning of the movie didn’t show up for the rest of the movie and didn’t get murdered by pennywise
I imagine they went to jail.
51:57 I just Saw chapter 2 yesterday and I’m pretty sure that Stanley was the only one to say its back so its not really a problem
Code Black Saw?
James' Bill Hader impression is seriously spot on!
