    One of the best winterizing vids !! Thank you so much.

    Before I watched your informative video I sprayed Sta-Bil fogging oil into the Air horn (based on another YT video...) on my 2019 Mercruiser 4.3L MPI for about 10 seconds until it smoked. Should I wait till October when I'll be using the boat again or would it be better to get it serviced to address any damage to the MPI fuel injectors and sensors?

    Don't you have to warm the boat to operating temp to get the antifreeze to move through the thermostat?

    Something doesn't make sense here: You open up the drains to let the cooling water out, then hv to start the engine again and let it warm up, sucking water from the outdrive as shown in the video before adding antifreeze... Why drain first then, and aren't you ending again with water in the engine cooling system?

      Absolutely correct!! you either drain "or" you fill with anti-freeze via muffs.

    Great Video , Love all of the DIY projects done on the show, thanks for the easy instructions. I guess in the video editing process , the block should have been emptied "after" the special fuel mixture has run through the system. Then run the antifreeze thru the system while still using the special fuel mix. Am I correct ?

      @johnropeleski6006 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that`s correct.the engine block always has to be drained of water before you add the anti- freeze.

      @@johnropeleski6006 What I'm I missing here? You drain the block than start it up to warm up and open the thermostat to run the Antifreeze thru? This is my 1st winterizing with a Mercruser and the Air Pump One Point Drain System.

    First rule: Never use ethanol fuel in ANY boat.

      Where can I buy ethanol free gasoline though?

      @@Redline_Garage Literally every fuel station around me offers ethanol free premium.

      @@braaap2065 well, you’re lucky I’m in Northern Illinois and it’s impossible to find. Most pumps got 10-15% ethanol

    The BOTTOM blue wing plug does not need to be removed. The only reason for removing it is if the bottom drain hose is stopped up and not draining when opening the upper ROUND BLUE faucet type valve. The multiport distribution housing is only made of plastic and is EASILY broken. MAJOR issues in accessing and replacing with a $200.00 plastic replacement housing.

    Wondering if you recommend pulling the bravo 3 and checking alignment each season?

    The guy in this video is holding up a sample of fuel with water separated from the fuel. This is incorrect and impossible. Years ago we are all familiar with a product called :Heet" used to remove condensed water in fuel tanks in our family cars. This is nothing more than Isopropyl alcohol or IPA. Before we had ethanol laced fuel, an 8 oz bottle poured in the tank absorbed all the water and served as a carrier of all the water while also mixing in with the fuel. The fuel, IPA, and water were all burned. With the advent of ethanol alcohol added to fuel, the sales of Heet or other products designed to remove water from fuel tanks has fallen off dramatically. There is zero moisture in our fuel tanks due to the alcohol in ethanol, but there are other issues with ethanol due to its corrosive nature, but these are not being addressed in this video. I'm going to use marine Stabil 360 to treat the fuel in my tank by adding it and following up with fuel being pumped in behind it causing it to be mixed in the tank. This will prevent the fuel from turning into varnish. I will also run the 454 MPI so the Stabil 360 will be in the fuel lines and inside each injector preventing varnished from forming and gumming up the injectors. I follow this basic procedure with our collector cars and lawn equipment using Stabil. Everything will be good to go next Spring. Gosh, I hate this time of year knowing the snow and cold will be here soon.

      I am fairly new to boating. So when you follow the procedure that you outlined here....do you still fog your engine using that complicated process that describes in the video??

    • @braaap2065
      @braaap2065 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or just don't use fuel with ethanol. No issues then. Pretty simple solution.

    20L of gas to run the engine for a few min?? Seems a bit much to run the engine for a min

      You should keep the fuel tank filled over the winter to minimize potential condensation.

    • @braaap2065

      @@tedschmitt178 Hes talking about the small portable tank. No need to mix up that much fuel to run the engine for 2-3 minutes.
