  • Chef Rosemary Shrager and antiques expert Tim Wonnacott visit the Royal Pavilion in Brighton to reveal the story behind 19-year-old Queen Victoria's visit in 1838 - the year she became queen.
    Tim shows us the extraordinary Chinese style interior and reveals just how it was styled in this way thanks to one of Victoria's predecessors. He also discovers that when Victoria wasn't in the mood for these interiors, she would retire to her own private apartments where the decor is much plainer than the rest of the house.
    From her diary entries we glimpse how reading Dickens helped shape her thoughts about her subjects and we have an insight into the serious-minded queen she was becoming.

      It's because paintings usually take hours to make. Try holding a smile whilst standing completely still for 15 minutes, and you'll see why every portrait looks like they're uncomfortable.

      @Alexis Kyle Same goes for almost all of the pictures from the wild west, also 1800's. For SOME reason, NO smiling. There should be a fact about it. Let me know, if you do.😉

    Nothing better to whet your royal appetite than have your fancy jellies accompanied by an excerpt of a literature piece describing the hell for the poor and underprivileged that you helped to build. Bon appetit!

    • @OstblockLatina
      @OstblockLatina 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are banana cultivars according to scientific definition. They are not so called "cooking bananas" but they are still a subgroup of the genus Musa just like cooking bananas are.
      Also, I suppose it requires some rather specialistic botanical knowledge to tell whether it was banana or plaintain leaves painted on that ceiling, and the host doesn't probably have it.

    I hate how they depict Victoria as some constipated Puritan frowning on everything. She and Albert obviously had a lively sex life for one thing. And they enjoyed having a lot of fun at family occasions. She enjoyed her horses and dogs, the countryside and fireworks, etc. Just because someone is not yucking it up publicly and mugging for the cameras does not mean the person is a killjoy who wants to piss on everyone's parade or disapproves of anything that might be the slightest bit funny. As for that wobbly pudding... I'm trying to figure out what's 'rude' about it. It's not like there's any part of the human anatomy that is a stepped cone. I think the giggles about that say more about the puerility of the presenters than Victoria and Albert's sense of humor. Or are all English people infantile in such matters nowadays?

    KING JESUS is coming so soon to take all those in Christ out of harms way in the blink of an eye friends then the 7 year tribulation will begin when God will open the seals and pour out his Judgement so if you do not want to be left behind in what the gospel describes as the worst time ever in the history of the world then by faith pray and ask Jesus to save you and forgive you of your sins by his finished work on the cross so you can receive eternal life in the kingdom of heaven and have your name written in the book of life . John 14.6 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me [ we are in the end times and the beast is rising the satanic elites are resetting the world for the future antichrist and the mark of the beast in your right hand or forehead to be able to buy and sell [ NEVER take the mark or worship the beast it is a one way ticket to hell ] and ALL bible prophecy is coming to pass every single day God bless and help you all and those in christ have nolthing to fear . Matthew 24.40.42 king James version
    40 then shall two be in the field , the one shall be taken , and the other left
    41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill , the one shall be taken , and the other left .
    42 Watch therefore , for ye know not what hour your lord doth come .

      If you don't believe in every good ever known to humanity or in unicorns and dwarves, you are a partial atheist. Also prove to me other gods than Jesus don't exist and I'll use your method to disprove your choice of a bronze age fairytale.
