    Victoria wanted a seperate dining room from the Rosthschilds and their guests because society considered them nouveau-riche Jewish upstarts and she wouldn't give the impression that she approved of their lifestyle. The main reason for her visit was to see how he decorated his house.

    • @BB-xe9oj
      @BB-xe9oj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're not considering that period in time. The average life expectancy of a woman in the 1890s was about 48 and it was even lower in 1819 when she was born so *for that time* she WAS elderly.

    • @leavingitblank9363
      @leavingitblank9363 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BB-xe9oj "Average" is meaningless. So many children died before they were 10 that it brought the average way down. If a person could make it past childhood, they lived well past their 40s. But yes, at that time people still didn't live as long as we do today, so 71 would have been at the top end.

    • @BOB1974_
      @BOB1974_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leavingitblank9363 So in one breath you tell me average is meaningless and in the next breath you tell me why the "average" was so low. What difference does that make if the average is "meaningless"?!!! The average of anything is still the average, no matter the cause. Average is never meaningless. And as far as people living "well past their 40s, yeah, tell that to Prince Albert and at least 2 of he and Victoria's children. I don't know why you responded to me like that but if it was to make yourself look stupid, you succeeded.

      @leavingitblank9363 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BOB1974_ Good grief. You didn't read very carefully. Otherwise I don't know why YOU responded... First, why it's low is precisely why it's meaningless HERE. (Pardon my exclusion of ALL possible uses of a mathematical average.) Second, did you notice I removed children from the equation? (No, obviously.) In any statistical analysis, you have to choose the proper data set. If you're considering the average life span of an ADULT (which is what we're talking about here), then all the numbers on children need to be removed. If that's not clear enough, I could explain in more detail, but since you were so rude in your reply, I'm not going to bother. Back under your rock.

I know the Brits criticize Americans for being “obsessed” with teeth, but seriously, do you people really think it is OK to see someone with a gap toothed mouth of rotted teeth?
