Was using a 10 year old plastic Sony Vaio until very recently. Same experience as yours. You can speed up your old laptop with a RAM and SSD upgrade btw. Its very easy and the changes are phenomenal.

I was in the first semester of my college and already in awe of a macbook air that a batchmate had. However, I didn't have the budget to buy but I still wanted to buy a good laptop. I did all the online research but it wasn't that helpful. So, I started to accompany anyone who was going to buy laptops 😁 I took a lot of visit and saw a lot of different laptop as part of these visits. Then it happened, love at first sight. I saw the newly launched ho pavilion dm4 😂. It was a beauty, had a feel of Apple macbook air but a bit cheap. I still had to beg for that huge 50k but I ended up with. The laptop was a metallic body and the perfect partner. Lots of movies, lots of studies and a lot more of research for next five years. It was the perfect friend and savior. It survived a lot crashes, both physically and technologically. But it was worth it. Thanks for the video, it just got me thinking about those good times 😁

So, let’s get to the real thing. MacBook Air is actually terrible for developers and programmers. It can handle basic coding but if you wish to create apps and websites or want to do video editing/music production/graphic design then please go for MacBook Pro or some performance laptops.. Don’t buy the MacBook Air for coding because really, it sucks.. Trust me, it will have heating issues, will take ages to run your code and stuff. If you are not from the CS section and just want a laptop for Netflix & chill, emails, projects etc then by every means MacBook Air is your choice... Conclusion is that buy the Pro if you need something to code in/edit videos on/development purposes etc and buy the air if you need a laptop to check emails, watch videos, write essays etc. Because if you want to android development then air will lag a lot. Same with iOS development for which you need to learn swift and use Xcode which won’t even run properly. The same goes for the other softwares Rest is up to you if you want to buy it.
Tejas Goyal I can help you but for that I will have to know the budget. If you have enough money like 2lakhs then you should buy a MacBook Pro. If you need a budget laptop which most students need, you can go for laptops like ASUS TUF, LENOVO LEGION, HP Pavilion gaming, etc. Most of these have high speed and high performance. The only drawback of them is the battery. They last like 3-4 hours on one charge. I guess that won’t be much of a problem though. If you want to do video editing I suggest laptops with enough ram [8gb for 1080p, you will need 16gb for 4K video editing to get smooth experience] and enough graphics for fast render of videos (2gb minimum for 1080 & 4gb for 4K). For coding, these laptops are pretty good as well.. If I knew the budget I could have suggested the perfect laptop..
Now... In the range of 60k to 70k... You can easily get hexa core processor with 4gb 1650 and 16gb 3200mhz RAM upto 32gb... 512gb m.2 nvme SSD... Backlit full keyboard, finger print unlock, type c port, hdmi, 2 usb 3.0 ports, 1 usb 2.0 and RJ45 means ethernet LAN port.... Okay .. now you might be thinking about the laptop name... I have used Dell Inspiron 15 for 9 years now . And it faced no problem besides changing the screen cable. It was a good experience.
Now we should not buy Macbook (with intel) because there is a transition going on , and it is expected that they will stop supporting intel ones

So, let’s get to the real thing. MacBook Air is actually terrible for developers and programmers. It can handle basic coding but if you wish to create apps and websites or want to do video editing/music production/graphic design then please go for MacBook Pro or some performance laptops.. Don’t buy the MacBook Air for coding because really, it sucks.. Trust me, it will have heating issues, will take ages to run your code and stuff. If you are not from the CS section and just want a laptop for Netflix & chill, emails, projects etc then by every means MacBook Air is your choice...
Conclusion is that buy the Pro if you need something to code in/edit videos on/development purposes etc and buy the air if you need a laptop to check emails, watch videos, write essays etc.
Because if you want to android development then air will lag a lot. Same with iOS development for which you need to learn swift and use Xcode which won’t even run properly. The same goes for the other softwares
Rest is up to you if you want to buy it.

Tejas Goyal I can help you but for that I will have to know the budget. If you have enough money like 2lakhs then you should buy a MacBook Pro. If you need a budget laptop which most students need, you can go for laptops like ASUS TUF, LENOVO LEGION, HP Pavilion gaming, etc. Most of these have high speed and high performance. The only drawback of them is the battery. They last like 3-4 hours on one charge. I guess that won’t be much of a problem though. If you want to do video editing I suggest laptops with enough ram [8gb for 1080p, you will need 16gb for 4K video editing to get smooth experience] and enough graphics for fast render of videos (2gb minimum for 1080 & 4gb for 4K). For coding, these laptops are pretty good as well..
If I knew the budget I could have suggested the perfect laptop..
Now... In the range of 60k to 70k... You can easily get hexa core processor with 4gb 1650 and 16gb 3200mhz RAM upto 32gb... 512gb m.2 nvme SSD... Backlit full keyboard, finger print unlock, type c port, hdmi, 2 usb 3.0 ports, 1 usb 2.0 and RJ45 means ethernet LAN port.... Okay .. now you might be thinking about the laptop name... It's Acer Aspire 7 Ryzen 5 5500u... And also Acer Nitro 5 Ryzen 5 4600h... Go for it... 😉🔥
