  • In this video I tell you every detail I can possibly remember about my Disney character audition process for the DCP (Disney College Program) for Fall and Fall Advantage 2016. I talk A LOT so fair warning, but there was a lot to this audition process for Disney, and I know before I went to my auditions I wanted every detail I could get. I hope this helps those of you in the DCP who are auditioning (now or in the future)! Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them for you! Be sure to like this video if it helps you at all!
    Overall, regardless if I make the role (*update-I made character performer!), this audition process was so fun and I don't regret doing it, even if I don't make character!

    Question: My daughter always wanted to be a face character. The problem is she's VERY petite; she stands at just 4'11". The characters she wanted to play are Wendy, Tinkerbell or Alice. I've read where shorter people can play these characters, and I've also read where, if you try out and you're short, more than likely you wind up in one of the hot costumes (Mickey, Minnie). So can you try out as a face character when you're short? Or does a short stature automatically toss you into the realm of the mascot-type character?

    • @dnava339
      @dnava339 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      saffie girl 4'10 - 5'3 are the heights for Wendy, Alice, and Tinkerbell I believe!

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone winds up in the "hot costumes" regardless if they get face or not. And there would be several options of characters for her to hang out with in that height

    Hi Elise, I hope you are having an amazing day! I am a junior in high shool and I am looking at doing the DCP! Just like you, I have been obsessed with DISNEY for forever! My dream has always been to be a character in the park. With that said, I have a few questions. The first question is: Did you apply to the DCP before your addition? and the second question is: When you do the DCP program do you go to a college/ University of your choice located around the park or do you take classes directly from Disney! Thank you so much for your videos. They are so helpful! I also think you just have the best personality. I can definitely see why Disney choice you.

    I auditioned this past week and I made it to the second dance and animation! They took my photo and my height and I filled out a worker paper. I have heard other people say face characters had to read scripts as part of their audition, but it sounds like you didn't have to? Im confused because I was not asked to read a script. Do you know if it is possible to still get a face character without being asked to read a script?

    • @itsmeelise

    I'd like to say that if you are auditioning at a dance studio you should really get ballet or jazz shoes to wear there. If you wear tennis shoes on the floor where people dance, it gets dirty and it is really unsafe for dancers. Not to mention marley is hard to clean.

    Hi! I'm attending the NYC audition next Monday. I was wondering whether or not I should bring a headshot or not. Also, I have my phone interview this week so I have not been accepted. Would that hurt my chances since they asked you if you'd already been accepted? Thanks!

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah sorry I'm seeing this so late! For CP auditions you don't normally need headshots. And they usually wait to give you an offer after auditioning if they know during the phone interview that you will be auditioning.

  • @Thebabysittersclub15

    Hi! I had a quick question. I applied for the DCP for Spring 2017 about a month ago. I haven't heard back yet, but I am attending an audition in about a week for character performer. I have a tattoo on my wrist that they asked about during my phone interview and I told them about. However, I just made an appointment to get it removed in November. It won't be off in time for the audition but if I made it through the audition and was considered for a face character (which I don't know if I will because i'm not a dancer), could I let them know I am getting it removed or will they tell me no? Thanks!!

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Emily Loeb If you get to a point where they ask you about your tattoo then be sure to tell them about the removal. It shouldn't affect anything really up until that point

    Hi! What was the timeframe of your entire DCP process in terms of - applying to the program, getting accepted, & auditioning for a character role? Thanks!

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +fitchly23 I applied and submitted my resume about the second week of February. A day later I was offered a web based interview. A day later I took it. A day later I was told to schedule a phone interview. The earliest date for me to do a PI was two weeks later so I had my PI on February 22nd. I got an email two days later of my acceptance (this is rare I hear) which was originally the role of housekeeping. My audition for entertainment was I think the 16th of March? I can't quite remember, but then we were told we would hear back starting April 1st up to April 15th about performing roles. I hear back around the 10th I believe. I arrived June 13th (the last available arrival date for fall advantage) and I will be leaving January 5th

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They did not ask for headshots or resumes. I hear for more serious auditions, such as for Tokyo and Shanghai they sometimes ask, but for CPs it is rare they ask. If it makes you feel less anxious to have one, then go for it, but it’s not something you should stress over

      Hi +Morgan Bellavia! You do not need previous dance experience before auditions. They do help a lot in the second round, but the instructors are great and several of my friends without dance experience were hired as performers. And this audition is for both! I was originally accepted as housekeeping but when I got accepted as performer, I chose to switch roles, instead of doing housekeeping. Some people who were auditioning hadn't even been interviewed yet, so it all depends on where you are in the process

      +Anisa Zepeda Hey girl, I might be moving there after I graduate! You need to be able to do some basic combinations. Ball changes into turns, and things like that. For us they didn't use a lot of traditional dance moves, but it was kind of a quick pace that made it slightly difficult , if that makes sense

    I love this video so much! I'm auditioning for DCP next thursday and im SO nervous! I'm a little under 5' 4" so I think that I can be used for a decent amount of characters. My only concern is dress size. I'm comfortably a size 12 but I could squeeze into a size 10, but dress sizes are so different where ever I go! Do you know what the measurements for dress sizes are?!

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dress sizes vary from size 2-10, with 10 being the absolute highest. For some, the biggest size is only is 6-8. I am normally a size 4, but wore size 6 most of my program because I'm a little "bustier" as they told me, than most, and that way the size 6 didn't "accentuate my assets" so to speak . It also allowed me to not worry about anything pinching me while moving and jumping around

    • @itsmeelise
      @itsmeelise  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      also, GOOD LUCK! Just have fun and try to have the best time possible! It really is a learning experience :)

      I believe the size 10 thing is kind of generic. But you wouldn’t have to worry about going up a size at all because parade costumes aren’t nearly as revealing!

    I will be auditioning for fur character roles very soon and I’m very excited :) (I would love to be a face character, but I’m quite ugly haha)
    I have been getting into shape and going to basic dance classes for a while just to prepare. I am experienced in moving in a large costume, and I have wanted to perform as a suited character ever since I was a small kid- Even if I’m not considered I’ll be very glad to have had the experience!
    My only worry is that my English is not very great- You can probably tell from my comment haha ^^ I hope that will not be an issue!

    • @itsmeelise

      +Allie Cosplay Animation is the most important part. You can have poor dancing skills, but animation is the most important. But they work with you a lot on the dancing, and most people are really nice and will help you as well. Most of the time you are there you spend practicing.
