When I go, hopefully many years from now, and if it's slow, maybe someone will stand vigil. But alone or not, during those transient hours, I think I will want the music of Sigur Ros accompanying me to whatever comes after, even if that might be nothing at all.
I think you're right, there's something empyreal about much of their music. I live in a fairly rustic mountainous region, and I often have Sigur Ros on as I'm driving narrow winding passes, or beside rushing streams, or through the small villages crowding around a valley lake, or on a mountain's shoulder with a cliff to one side and open sky to the other. I find that whatever's going on that day, that hour or so in my Jeep with them playing and surrounded by this beauty that our little floating rock in the universe can offer, I can appreciate it in the moment and find peace in it. So, for me, their music offers a perspective of the significance of beauty in the mundane. A simple drive to and from work can be a beautiful thing, if you want it to be. If you allow it to be.
In any case, I appreciate your perspective on Sigur Ros. I'm glad you've found something profound in what they do. Take care, be well, and enjoy your day.
