I was just asked to paint the same sled for my folks - did you gesso the sled before you painted? I couldn't find any clear Gesso at Walmart today and wondering if this step is 100%. VERY amateur artist here with no real technical training for 20 years now
Hi thanks for your comment! No I went in kind of slap dash. I should have prepped the surface beforehand with something but what I ended up doing was just sanding the area I was going to paint once I ran into problems. I then sealed it afterwards with a clear sealer. You should be fine sanding it as long as any old surface treatments are taken off and then giving it a good wipe down. You might get better results with gesso to start but i dont think its necessary
It's cute!!
Thanks!
