GRAPE APE! Been asking for this. Mike I completely disagree with the comments. I believe you’re 10x ballzier with the thumb throttle. It’s what you know.
Idk how your boy doesn't wear googles, that's wild. I ride tighter single track but I've taken so many branches and rocks to the face. Even bugs. All that shit would end up in your eyes, no wonder he can't see.
Even though it’s still hits so good. And you can tell it’s gonna be real healthy when jetted. Man so awesome! This is still the most unique yz125 out there I think.
It looks like you're starting to have much more fun on bike the more you ride Mike. I don't ride as often enough as I should to get my skill up so I still suck at riding. There's no place to ride around my house. As for where we do go riding it's not a good idea to ride alone. It's best to have someone with you incase something happens. Everyone is just so busy.
Alot of my friends thought I was crazy when I did the thumb throttle but when they rode it (yeah) change there mind didn't wanted to give me my bike back..but yes you have more control of the bike
JD jetting has a kit for the yz125 they give you a new custom needle worked really well on my 05. Also, just from hearing the sound you need to go down a size on the main jet as well. What 2 stroke oil do you usually run I am curious
Hey, man great build sounds real healthy. Have you ever thought about selling the plastics graphics kit as a file, cuz man the grape ape looks soo good.
I'm guessing your in north jersey because theres tons of riding in south jersey. We dont have large wooded areas with lots of trails like this, everything is broken up. Half of the fun is exploring for trails man. There's the tiniest patch of woods 5 min from my house behind a bank and someone built a legit mx track there. I'm always scopin out spots because for the most part, all woods have trails. Whre i live, if your willing to help maintain riding spots, people are cool letting you ride there. We cut new trails in the spring every year. Everything local is small tho. I mostly ride the railroad tracks and electric lines because theres less police encounters. You can ride west all the way to PA. Use Google maps and look for wooded spots, then plan a route to get there. I'm in Morris County. Good luck dude.
I think you don't really need the clutch shifting up through the gears either, keep her in banging off the top and slap them gears. I used to rip my kx80 that way lasted a long time wish I never sold it.
I just want to see dyno charts for a 144 big block 125 to see if it is worth the money. My yz125x does great, but never know what your missing out on til you try, exept for a thumb throttle on a dirt bike i wont ever have that.😂
Dope ride 🫡🫡🫡 def gotta burn that sand up together one time, I can’t wait I just got my r304 silencer to pair with the platnium 2 header . Sploogey or not she still looked to be a fun ass time tho 🔥😶🌫️😶🌫️💨 I’d def love to run that thing down in the sugar especially the roller/woops
Yup. Tuning carbs can be tricky for newbies. I bought my first 2 stroke a few years ago from some dude that just moved from PA down here to FL. The jetting was so far off it would barely run or start and there were no jets in the factory spec manual that worked either. I bought an aftermarket jet kit and played with it. What a difference. Had to lean it out from a 48 pilot to a 40 and dropped the main 4 sizes. Totally different atmosphere down here with the heat and humidity.
I have an insane build for you to do I have a 92 lt250r quad racer and a lt500r quadzilla engine and I would like to put the engine in the 250r chassis. How much would it be for you to do the fabrication. I can dm you
You need to ditch the thumb throttle on that bike. You are literally going to eat shit one day with that setup. Jump up to a yz 250 2 smoke. ....way more power but much more manageable as in you don't need to ring it's neck as much to have fun.
Hey man I bought a 00 yz125 but blown top end so I bought a “99” for 400 and it was beat up but almost good motor so I got it together and have a 00 with a “99” motor turns out it was a 98 because I bought v force reeds and they didn’t fit and I looked the difference up do you have any extra good parts for a 98 like fmf pipe or something? Or even better a 00 top end? If so I would love to buy them
I was the dude that commented about starting a flipping business on the last video. I am wondering if you guys have any bike suggestions so I have flipped enough dirt bikes to make some money that I put to the side so I can make a personal bike I recently got a 2023 KX 230 R which is my trail bike. I’m looking for a motocross bike now I’m about 6 foot 220 so what is a good bike I’m not a beginner. I’ve owned motocross bikes before I say I’m close to being an expert
A lot of the older bikes have become more popular again in recent years. Look for any decent MX bike from the mid 80's to late 90's when the suspention started getting better. If you're wanting mostly 2-trokes then deffinately stick to those era's. Also do research on model year and look for bikes that have good parts availability. Avoid first year models of bikes when they transitioned from air-cooler to liquid cooler with power valves. Some only lasted a year until they were refined the following model year. So replacement vitals are near impossible to find and are expensive when you do. Also avoid the year models known fo issues. Bikes like my younger brothers 93 CR250 is so easy to get parts for you can literally buy a full endgine rebuild in a box that comes with a crank, piston/rings, needle bearing, wrist pin, bearings, seals and gaskets for $700-ish. I'm partial to the old 70's and early 80's bikes because of their simplicity but finding parts for some of them is near Unobtainium. So restoring something like that would make them more expensive to sell. Some people who know what they are would be willing to pay the price and others might not. It's no different than working on old muscle cars. If you can find good deals on vintage big bore 2-strokes to fix up and restore those fetch a hefty price tag. A CR500 in good clean condition can easily fetch $8,000.
@@Slane583 this info was very helpful and you’re right about the older two stroke, motocross bikes blowing up recently ever since the pandemic they’ve been skyrocketing
@@James-xq6kg Indeed. In my area it's hard to get a beater KX250 to fix for less than $1,200. Anything that's clean and runs goes for $2,500 all day long. Some years go for more. I was lucky to get my 1976 Yamaha IT400 for the price I did. Even if it is beat up, missing stuff and is a mish-mash of parts. But it's a 50-something year old bike so I can't blame it for being rough. Though I've been procrasinating on getting it running. I don't consider myself an expert in anything. I'm just a tinkerer who tries to do it corrently. :)
@@James-xq6kg I remember back when $1,200 got you a decent bike that needed very little work. Decent fixable beaters usually went for $600. Everyone sells their stuff like it's a block of gold. It's hard to get deals that good these days but they are out there if you look hard enough. I'm not a bike flipper, I just want something to ride on. For the most part I have it, I just need to get my lazy butt in motion to work on it. :)
That kawi will pull that yz everyday and twice on sundy . And I’m a two stroke rider. These new 250&450s are just so torquey that a baby 125 just can’t hold up. All depends on the rider of coarse but if you put 2 capable ppl on those two bikes, the kx will wax the yz everytime . Now a 250 2 stroke that’s far far different but even then their so close look at last year motorcross outdoors. A Yamaha 250f factory star pulled a yz250 on the hole shot. And both riders are legit fast .
You definitely look a lot faster on the YZ, I think the powerband forces you to ride faster. You look more comfortable too, I think it's because it's lighter than your KX, you need to start riding that KX like that YZ
GRAPE APE! Been asking for this. Mike I completely disagree with the comments. I believe you’re 10x ballzier with the thumb throttle. It’s what you know.
Thing just sounds like my childhood weekends in the trails with my buddies.
I felt that….. times have changed
2 stroke over 4 stroke any day twice on Sundays
Gosh dang I love that bike so much it’s unreal.
I love this bike❤❤❤
Finally a video of the yz 125 love it i picked up a 01 not to long ago love the 125s they got a special place in my ❤😂
You always say you suck at riding dirt bikes but you're actually pretty damn good!!
The Grape Ape is still a little badass, Beagley Beagley! BulTaco!!
Nice work bro new subscriber
I love 125's so much! tons of shifting, screaming thru the gears, its the most fun you can have on a motorcycle!
I have a yz125 I’m 240 and it rides great with me you getting better on the bike, just got me a yz250x that I’m about to take it out on the trails
Love the bike but man it needs a twist throttle. You'll gain a lot more control. Absolutely love the grape ape tho. Can't wait to see it rip tuned up.
Idk how your boy doesn't wear googles, that's wild. I ride tighter single track but I've taken so many branches and rocks to the face. Even bugs. All that shit would end up in your eyes, no wonder he can't see.

Grape Ape riding little grape Ape ! LOL 😂😂😂
Haha dude, you were ripping that thing bro. Omg at 15:43 😂😂
Thumb throttle has to be the move, I suck on a bike so it would be one less thing to have to adjust to from a quad lol such a good looking bike too
He see's a mud puddle and hells oh no sounds like me 😂😂
You should totally get a cardo for you and your buddies. Its a game changer for trail riding.
I just brought a 2000 yz125 I love it 🇦🇺🤙🤙
she sounds really good
slap a smartcarb on that bad boy and never care again haha

sounds like its time to send the kx suspension over to rocket ron. suspension makes so much of a difference on a dirtbike

Why would he crash because of the thumb throttle
🔥🔥🔥
