    Great video, I’m thinking of getting one and a Sony a 7C for my first camera set up. I’m thinking this is going to be as close to an iPhone camera as I can get? While being an upgrade. I don’t want the shot to look drastically difference to my audience and I don’t want to have to change my frame or my set up. I just want some better control over the f-stop with some higher quality looking images along the way.

    • @switchunboxing
      @switchunboxing ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m just not sure this is the right way to go because I was looking at a 24, but maybe this will be closer to what my iPhone has been seeing. Only thing is, I think my iPhone crops in on the sensor. Also, I think this gives the illusion that you can bring objects closer to the camera than you really can so I might run into a problem with minimum focus distance.

    • @SuperCommercialDude
      @SuperCommercialDude 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Faster aperture is definitely a plus, and one of the biggest advantages of prime lenses like this. Another reason is optics and sharpness. Prime lenses tend to be significantly sharper and have better image quality than zoom lenses. A high-end zoom lens is usually similar image quality to mid-tier prime lens.

    • @whoismatt
      @whoismatt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I decided to go cheap and get a Rokinon lens 35mm F1.4 AF although there is some downsides to it, but as long as the picture quality is sharp that's all I care about. having a button or aperture ring on the outside is not important to me, and I can deal with the weight because it is a pretty heavy lens. the autofocus and picture quality is really good some people say it's better or almost as good as a Sony Zeiss. I did a few tests with it but as far as long-term test I guess I will find out. so far I'm happy with it I don't think Sony 35mm GM is worth the 1400 price tag when you got a $600 lens thats good too or maybe almost as good I don't know. I would love to see someone do a comparison between those two lens.. another reason why, I got it used on Adorama almost like new for $399 even better couldn't pass that up.. awesome job on the video review Matt.

    Very good job Matt as always! I just wished you mentioned this almost perfect lens has a big flaw for video work and that's focus breathing, Dn't say you can't live with it but I think personally I still prefer the 35 1.8 G for videography considering it's lighter weight and I think 1.8 still can give enough subject separation for most scenarios plus having no focus breathing.

    The image is so good but the focus breathing is so bad. It’s really concerning for the G Master line in my opinion. So sharp and punchy though.
    This lens is pretty solidly a photo lens that looks great in video unless you have moving subjects or need to rack focus.
    The price is right but that’s a pretty serious trade off when creating video content.
